Man I miss this TH-camr. Your videos are so informative as a mt07 owner for 4 years and now wanting to do a lot of performance mods to make the bike interesting again. I wonder why you went awol
The usage of Johntron and Iron Man. Subscribed. Pure genius. Also, for anyone that wants a quickshifter but doesn't want to buy a tuner or quickshifter, just let off the throttle for a split second and shift. Works best when accelerating harder. It's quite clunky at low speed and harder to master. Also, you can quick downshift. Blip your throttle just a tiny bit as you gently push down on the shifter. You can even clutchless shift into neutral. Bonus points for coasting to a stop and throwing down your kickstand and never putting your feet down.
There is a catch actually. That while working with something that have a rotating part it can actually tear the glove a bit, pick up a thread and pull your hand towards it. Had and accident with some guy and an angle grinder (he got REALLY BAD CUT on his hand). So its wise to either wear nothing or use gloves with two pockets, one for four fingers and second for the thumb that guys on the steel mills use and probably have its own name even. They arent comfy at all yet you can drop them very fast in an emergency
It seems pretty fiddly. I installed a HM Quickshifter to my MT07 and didn't need to flash the ECU. Plus they come with custom rods which was the right length for my bike. It has a little control unit which sits under the seat where you can change settings too. Seems to be a better solution although a bit more expensive! Nice video though.
The main con for me is simply : With a bit of training you can achive the same with clutchless shifting ! RoyalJordanian did a video about it, he's even faster this way on the Nuda than with his quickshifter equipped S1000R haha !
Shifting from 1st to 6th isn't being faster than a quickshifter. It's a useless feature. I was someone that thought that quickshifters were useless for the road, until I tried one on my bike It's fun
I never upshifted without the clutch before installing this. I occassionally get missed gears and it doesnt always feel that smooth... almost as if I am just rev matching manually. No need to lower the minimum rpm, activation, or next shift delay?
The healtech qs requires you to have a bunch of wires running to your ignition coils and you need to find space for a control box which just adds more clutter imo. Just like healtech you can adjust the timing in every gear and at every rpm, plus it would have been 140 dollars more than ft ecu. I just like when everything is done on the ecu and there no wires everywhere :)
Nice to see a new vid! 👍🏻 so why don’t you rev match gearing down ? Ik someone with a quick shifter that gears down... finally getting some nice weather in Ontario, I’m bout 2 1/2 3 hours from Toronto ✌🏻
Thanks! Im not sure what you mean but, the MT-07 doesnt have electronic throttle, so it wont be able to blip the throttle on downshifts. I have to do it manually by hand (and I do rev match, for some reason its really quiet on video. Otherwise my rear tire would be skidding all over the asphalt). And the weather is finally getting better 😎 Thanks for the comment!
Hello. I have quickshifter installed on my mt07 with the default sotck values. Activation delay 05ms Next shift delay 0500 ms Sensor type NO The problem is When the gear change is activated, the engine shuts down for approximatelly 2 seconds haw can i solve that? I attach a photo. Thank you
Is it truly worth it? Does the bike really even need it? I mean, it's an FZ07 not exactly a racing bike or a track bike. Don't get me wrong i love my FZ07, but there are at least 3 other components I'd spend money on first. New mirrors, new exhaust, fender delete kit. But i like the video. Thanks for all the info :)
Hi. I installed ftecu flash and quickshifter. I have a problem. When changing gears, the engine shuts down for a long time. 1 second approximately. Do you have any idea what the solution is?
Hmm, I've never encountered any problems, I flashed the bike tenths of times. The only thing I could think of is the kill times are set for too long that is why bike shuts off when you change gears. I dont think thats the problem though. Id contact them directly. Here are the kill times Im running ibb.co/c6TJ427
I also have a quickshifter on my MT07! i wanted to ask you how hard do you have to push on the lever for it to change gears,i found out that with my setup i have to shift with quite some force for it to engage the next gear, have you had similar problems? i saw your kill times posted, maybe i'll try those! love your videos btw!
Hmm quick shifter shouldn’t decide how hard you have to press to shift. I had similar issue on my mt10 however, if your shift lever is too low instead of ur foot lifting it you will be pushing it. So my only advice is to lift up the shift lever by spinning shift rod and that might fix it
only up. The FZ-07 is cable throttle so it can kill the injectors/spark for a split second. But it can't blip the throttle. You can blip your throttle and push down on the shifter to clutchless downshift. But go easy. It's pretty aggressive and can chirp the rear wheel.
Hi! Did you end up adjusting the kill times in the end or kept the default? I also noticed you have flashed QS 1.0 and when I checked it right now says QS 1.1! I also ordered the ftecu qs despite their bad support/availabillity, however i noticed they moved from An old ticket system to An forum, so maybe they respond now :D, Lets see!
Hey, the stock kill times are okay. In certain situations it would jerk, especially if you shifted without accelerating. I also had a problem where my bike would jump down to 4th after quickshifting into 5th which was pretty scary. Most of that got fixed by increasing the kill times. Here is an image of how I have it set up ibb.co/c6TJ427 and its working pretty well. I also have a video coming out on all the settings, I use for the FT ECU but not sure when Ill get it done.
@@TURBOTWINKIE thanks :-), I am looking forward to it :D. I have Read indeed that the 5th and 6th gears can be tricky, some even modified the gears physically. I noticed that the QS v1.0 is a little different from QS v1.1, in QS 1.1 you don't have to specify killtimes per Gear per rpm! I read it uses the internal ECU ticking system to time it perfectly... You should try it :-) (ofcourse keep An copy of the old one), I think v1.1 gets loaded once you download a fresh copy of the stock/unrestricted ecu. Which pcv mapping are you running BTW? With stock or unrestricted version? Is it running fine? Did you do the Throttle body sync? I also would love an video on valve adjustment 🤭
Quickshifters are basically the same as you would clutchless shift your motorcycle. Instead of blipping your throttle by hand, quickshifter does that automatically. There is 0 damage in the long run. To reassure check out this vid on clutchless shifting a bike and the effects it has bit.ly/2H3lWH9
nope, not on FZ/MT-07. You can only quickshift up. It's a throttle cable so you can't do it. You CAN clutchless downshift by blipping the throttle and downshifting. You need a bike that is throttle by wire like a FZ/MT-09, R1/MT10 etc.
First thanks you for this video!! I've been waiting this video since i have my flashtune installed, now i can really decide shold i get this quickshifter on my fz-07 or not
Well you actually can shift without clutch, up or down regardless if you have a qs. You just dont have to blip, or release throttle when shifting with quickshifter. But yes, MT-07 doesn't have electronic throttle so the quickshifter wont work on downshifts. Hope thats not too confusing :)
Probably will get mt10. The cool thing is if I get mt10 I can just swap this quick shifter into the other bike and enable autoblip on downshifts :) so kinda works out for me

nope, not on FZ/MT-07. You can only quickshift up. It's a throttle cable so you can't do it. You CAN clutchless downshift by blipping the throttle and downshifting. You need a bike that is throttle by wire like a FZ/MT-09, R1/MT10 etc.
