Very helpful tutorial. Couple of pro tips that were left out of the video: There is a gray plastic keeper on the door handle switch that must be rotated to the right in order to remove that switch. It is very fragile so be careful. It also serves to secure the switch in place when you reinstall it. Do not pry it outward, whatever you do. Also, when realigning the door panel along the top, be careful that you reset it so that the rubber seal is in the correct position. If not, you will fight to get it realigned along the top. Just make note of how it looks before you take it off, and put it back on the same way. Last tip, the four screws that are removed using the torque screwdriver are different lengths. There are two long ones and two short ones. Make sure you know which ones go back into which positions.
Props on the video! I would let folks know the window plug on the driver's side has a clip that slides over the plug to get it disconnected. Aside from that, your video saved me hours of stress. Thanks, man!
While I really do appreciate the effort and time taken to make this video, I'm a little bummed that you skipped the prying parts, especially for the rear manual side curtains. Yesterday I tried to remove them but they seemed a little too snug and I didn't want to risk breaking anything. Sadly, I haven't found any other video on here that shows how to pry them off. Yours is the closest, but again, the actual scene is skipped. Despite my trying to pry them where you said to, I got nothing. But otherwise, thanks a lot for the rest, I was able to sort out the front doors without issue!
Agree with others that just saying 'do this' and then magically skipping to where it's done makes the video pretty useless. A couple of key points. The top trim panel has the tab as mentioned but also has a hook on the left side so needs to be slid to the right to remove. Unplug the door switch is not straightforward, it doesn't just pull out, you will break it if you try that. There is a handle at the top that needs to be rotated down and to the front of the switch in order to remove the plug. As you rotate it forward it will push the plug out of the socket. Lastly getting the door card back can be a real pain. To reinstall lift it above the sill line angle downwards and wiggle it under the treble speaker in the corner. Then lower the other corner until it fits neatly into the slot. To remove the switch holder/handle don't use pry tools or you'll scratch the leather. Just push it out from below, enough pressure and it will just pop out. When removing the screws holding the switch holder there are two long and two short, remember which goes where when you take them out. Also when putting the new piece back in the door make sure the top is properly seated before trying to put the screws back in. If the top is not in properly the screw will go under and just push it out.
I did my driver side only and your process was right on the money and very helpful. I had the most trouble popping off the handle cover. Everything else went pretty much as expected. Thanks for this.
Did it man... Good video appreciate for taking time explaining each, one thing to add on IF THE REAR DOOR HAS CURTAINS THEN NEED TO REMOVE THE REAR SMALL GLASS CURTAIN TRAY BY POPING OFF USING FLAT SCREWDRIVER AND THERE IS NO NEED TO REMOVE THE REAR DOOR LONG WOODEN STYLE COVER, THERE IS NO SCREW INSIDE
Mine are nearly to the point of sticking (they don't do that yet), so I recently bought only front ones since rears were in mint condition, never been touched before. Driver door handle was the worst, passenger handle has wear. Once I will get a chance to go to a garage, I will do this job, looks to be rather simple (have done these things with previous cars for audio upgrades so I am pretty familiar with the door panel removal process, just needed that little bit of insight to not mess up in the removal process)
Thanks bro, I really appreciate this tutorial. II changed mine today, looks ,and feels so much better. No more sticky rubber getting on my hands. Took me and hour.
Thanks for this video. I like that you show all the clips and screws. The only scary part of a job like this is breaking something or a clip, then you have to find a replacement. When someone makes a video like this we see where all the clips are and where to pry, so it makes it much less likely to happen.
Removed the 4 screws on the back of the door panel but cannot figure out how to release the connector, and to fully pop out the plastic assembly without breaking something. Anyone have any insights, hints?
Nice...your video was helpful...first time I took off a door panel as a woman lol and it was a success....I switched my parts out with carbon fiber to match the black BMW 535i interior...Thanks for the upload!!!!!!
After 4 years am watchimg this video.. and BASICALLY its very informative video. as I own 5 series in Qatar which am facing the same issue of Sticky door handles and melted rubbers.. its really disgusting!
Awesome man thanks for putting this out! I have to replace my front passenger pull handle (all other items are fine thankfully). But the cheapest I found that thing for was $139. So this kit at a FRACTION of the cost I get the 1 part I need, PLUS everything else for down the road when they all EVENTUALLY will get gummy and crapped out. Great find!
where did yall get all four pieces from? Bmw should compensate all owners and replace them no charge bc this is obviously a factory defect.. i replaced my driver side that piece ran about 30 bux off ebay
Follow up question. I am seeing a lot of these kits out there that seem to have the larger rear switch covers. I know your 1st kit had those as well. Do they fit and just cover more leather or could you not get them to fit at all? Seems weird with a good amount of these companies including them.
Great video, I just followed it. Worked great but my dumbass broke the gray lock piece on the connector, when plugging back in. Any idea where I can get the plug, or what the part number is? Thank you
Basically you’re basically telling me to basically to remove the basic buttons and basically it looks cleaner and newer and basically looks basically new. Basically easy.
Does the Amazon purchase come with all the tools to install? I purchased all the parts from Amazon for $70 and only the actual parts came without any tools. Thank you for your video!
Oh hell no lol well I’m can’t.. hmm maybe I can but don’t want to do all that 😩 my 535 is doing this. I have black on black. May use some black tape somehow lol make it look pretty 🥴😩 lol mines just started so idk. Trying to think of something else that would mold around it. 🤔 Oh well.
Awesome guy, gotta do that to my '13 5 Series. Gonna go with the carbon fiber kit @ $189. I like the way you didn't waste time taking off AALLL THE FRIGGIN' WIRES, just the ones that mattered, BIG time saver right there!!! I wonder if BMW ever corrected this deficiency with the melting rubber coating on these door handles?!?!?!
I can’t seem to find where I can order the parts & have the installing tools included. I purchased from the Amazon link but I don’t have the proper tools. Do you know where I could get these?
Damn man seems like a lot of work, my driver side door has that sticky part in the door where I keep my change. Lol I really don’t want to take apart the whole door! Lol
Great job! I was just thinking about doing this video and posting. You beat me to it! I have the same Mocha Brown interior, but I'm thinking of swapping out to black handles. I love the mods. Keep them coming and check out my F10 535i on my channel.
Thanks for the video! How long did it take to replace the drivers side? I've ordered the piece on Ebay, but I might be a little retarded to do it myself. Just wanna know how much I'd have to pay someone so I don't screw it up
Bro all this stuff is super easy man you just need to get just do videos where you show the like before and after… Anyways I’m starting to ball off outta control in my TH-cam channel I’m doing my Ftin in five but I got 700 Ru wheel horsepower so it’s beyond to be leaf since I follow you you should probably follow me in and represent a fellow are in five owner learn how to support people

I appreciate this comment 😅

This was very helpful! It does take a while, it’s not easy as it looks but once you get there it’s all worth it!
I did my driver side only and your process was right on the money and very helpful. I had the most trouble popping off the handle cover. Everything else went pretty much as expected. Thanks for this.

doing it and recording by yourself is hard man.
Bro I’m doing it as we speak and I can’t get the white clip detached frm the old peace help!!
Help ?
Tnx for the instruction. Did it yesterday on my F11 and worked perfectly.
Helpful video, showed it to my mechanic and had no problems switching it out
Removed the 4 screws on the back of the door panel but cannot figure out how to release the connector, and to fully pop out the plastic assembly without breaking something. Anyone have any insights, hints?
À modern day hero! Thanks for the tuto, step by step, very clear.
Now I need the front air unit replacement tuto 😅
Nice...your video was helpful...first time I took off a door panel as a woman lol and it was a success....I switched my parts out with carbon fiber to match the black BMW 535i interior...Thanks for the upload!!!!!!
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Anthony awesome. I did the driver side but I am having issue with passenger side switch and clips. How did you dis onnect it so fast
You don’t realize how many times you say “basically” and “as you can see” until you record a DIY vid, great vid!!
Haha definitely, thank you!
After 4 years am watchimg this video.. and BASICALLY its very informative video. as I own 5 series in Qatar which am facing the same issue of Sticky door handles and melted rubbers.. its really disgusting!
Excellent block of instructions, I recently replaced the ones on the front doors of my 2014 528i , Thanks for your tutorial !!
Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
Good video showing how everything is fastened and connected!
(I think the "basically"-counter would lose to a "guys"-counter. 😉)

Great video! Thanks so much for taking the time to post it.
Great video, very helpful, thanks! I believe that there is a way to deleted non-sensical comments on TH-cam..
Basically a good video that will basically help me to basically finally replace my door pull which has been sticky for basically about a year ;)
How to find the specs of screws? Last owner just lost all of then.
"Guys" counter = 10 times in 1 minute and 30 sek. Good enough 🤣 Thanks for your video! Helped me a lot 👍
would you disconnect the battery before doing all this?
What color is your interior and what color was the door handle that u ordered
Bro ! i just got my replacement after years of putting it off. thanks for the tutorial !
Thanks bro! I bought the same pieces for my f10 but couldn’t find a tutorial anywhere!
Glad I could help bro! 🙏🏻

Yeah I don’t understand that either bro they don’t fit at all the hole is too small for the switch cover that they provide
After I changed my door handles driver side master window switches are not working. What should I do?
Thanks. Very informative, made the job easy. Good stuff!
Do the classic YT catchphrase count. “guys” count infinite.
I replaced my 528 handles but now the window buttons don't work and the mirror buttons don't work anymore on the driver side
Great video, I just followed it. Worked great but my dumbass broke the gray lock piece on the connector, when plugging back in. Any idea where I can get the plug, or what the part number is? Thank you
Thank you!
Thank you, mine has the same problem but thankfully only on one door
Easy fix!
Good vid. Easy to follow. Thanks man
Mine is beige color, it has lots of dirt and dark stuffs on it. Just horrible. I might need to replace the handle also.
Definitely makes a big difference!
brilliant thanks, was able to complete my passenger door 😊
Thanks for posting. Easy to follow along and didn’t take too long at all.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for the video. It really helps me understand what it takes to do mine.
Great explanation and well explained.
Excellent video. I too have the same problem. Could you please tell me what Ebay store you got the kit
Thank you bro! This is the exact one I got. www.ebay.com/itm/173991231421
Hey Anthony, I followed your video to replace my rotted switch cover too. Worked like a charm!
Glad I could help 🙏🏼
Bro how long did this take? I found a matching bicycle handlebar wrap and wrapped my passenger handle. It actually looks nice and much easier to grab.
Without recording maybe an hour or so
Thanks. Very helpful vid.
Where did you buy the back piece? What's the part number?
if you buy a carbon fiber trim kit will it have these in tehre?
Basically you’re basically telling me to basically to remove the basic buttons and basically it looks cleaner and newer and basically looks basically new. Basically easy.
Thank you that is very informative! Btw did you have to unplug the battery?
I did not unplug it
I got mine changed thnx to you.
"Basically" counter... hilarious 😂
Does the Amazon purchase come with all the tools to install? I purchased all the parts from Amazon for $70 and only the actual parts came without any tools. Thank you for your video!
For the most part yes, In the video I explain what other tools are needed
Good video, really in depth with excellent angles
Thank you sir ! 🙏🏻
Hey man sorry I’m late but would you recommend disconnecting the battery
You definitely can but you don’t have too
Thank you. I really struggled with the door pull trim breaking a bottom clip on each one I tried. Do you know where I can buy these?
Great video! Very informative and it made my job that much easier. Keep up the good work!
Glad I could help 🙏🏼
i believe this is common issue on F10 models? i have to replace mine too
Yes, most definitely
Oh hell no lol well I’m can’t.. hmm maybe I can but don’t want to do all that 😩 my 535 is doing this. I have black on black. May use some black tape somehow lol make it look pretty 🥴😩 lol mines just started so idk. Trying to think of something else that would mold around it. 🤔 Oh well.
Did you cook Crack in your door handle?
Awesome guy, gotta do that to my '13 5 Series. Gonna go with the carbon fiber kit @ $189. I like the way you didn't waste time taking off AALLL THE FRIGGIN' WIRES, just the ones that mattered, BIG time saver right there!!! I can’t seem to find where I can order the parts & have the installing tools included. I purchased from the Amazon link but I don’t have the proper tools. Do you know where I could get these?
You should just need torx bro, you can pick some up at your local auto store or Home Depot
Where is the "guys" counter? 😀Thank you man for the guide!
Oh yes I have this exact issue on my F10
Once I replaced the nasty driver side handle, I was satisfied and I gave up 😂
Hopefully BMW fixed this issue on newer cars.
Yes hopefully lol, it shouldn't even be an issue to begin with
Well done mate
Thanks! 🙏🏼
Damn man seems like a lot of work, my driver side door has that sticky part in the door where I keep my change. Lol I really don’t want to take apart the whole door! Lol
Hm, not too much work. Just a little time consuming
Good video, thank you for taking the time!
That you for watching!
Very helpful thankyou!
