Guys most important feature you need to check is if the timer holds the settings in event of power outage. You might want to pay a bit more for those with such capability. You wont regret doing the reprogramming every time your house experience an outage :)
Your tip on the electrical tape ultimately solved my problem. I was transposing the Line & Load. The tipoff was the tape the contractor electrician left on the Line wire. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hey Robert, yes unfortunately where I was installing it was not for a 3 way. I did talk about how to use it in a 3 way application which is super easy as you would just need the traveler wire that is connected at the other switch and connect the other end of it into the traveler port on this timer. Hi Adam very simplified video thank, the only thing is i'm do not have natural wire connection in that box and not sure where to connect the jumper. it's only 1 socket switch for the porch with 3 wire, ground, load and line. ground, black and white. any tips on what to do. i connected everything like u did without the jumper and light didn't go on. thank you.

What I'd like to do is to have a couple of sockets permanently rigged up to be operated by a timer for outdoor holiday lights. No there is an internal battery. But now that I’ve had mine about 4-5 years, the batteries seem to be wearing out and I have had to reprogram some of them.
I just replaced a Defiant DTM-0024 timer switch with their model 32648. The older switch is a countdown timer that can be programmed up to 24 hours in one minute increments. I replaced it with the 32648 because I was under the impression that in manual mode the 32648 would bypass the timer/program modes completely and function as a regular SPST switch. However I noticed that when I put the switch in Manual mode it functions as a countdown timer, the same as my old switch. I've read through the instruction and searched online to see if I can get a definitive answer, but I'm afraid the 32648 won't do what I want. I haven't been able to find a customer support number or website, either. Thoughts? Thanks
Adam, I've tried 3x to install this Defiant timer. Seems I have a mixed up incoming power or something. I can connect & program, but it doesn't do anything but stay running 24x7 or I can do the manual on off. I'm no electrician, but seems it should be working unless the box itself has screwed up in/out wiring.

I believe this switch is the same as the GE SunSmart digital switch. Same hardware and design, same functionality. The only difference I can see is that the Defiant model sells for about $10 less than the GE unit. Also, I'm not sure if it was clear how to determine which black wire is line and which is load. The black LINE wire is HOT when tested with a multimeter. The black LOAD wire is NOT HOT. Of course, this is before you turn off the circuit breaker.
I did everything that you have said. However, when I connect the neutral jumper to all the neutrals in the wall, my circuit breaker does not turn on the panel. When I remove the jumper from the switch the breaker now works and the display is on but I cannot turn on/off the light outside. Any suggestions?
We installed this unit in June 2022, but when the power goes out, it loses everything and have to reprogram it. It’s was installed to turn on the front porch light. Can you please tell me why it doesn’t keep the program when we lose power. This United is only almost 3 months old. Thank you, Cindy
I set up my Defiant timer light switch. After I set up the Dusk to Dawn for my area and set that up for my area, do you stop there and will my lights turn off and on with dusk and dawn settings? Or do you have to program the lights as well for the days of the week in that setting?
My old switch only has 2 cables hooked up to it (2 blacks) which I’m guessing one is the line and one is the load. My grounds are all tied up together as well as my neutrals. Does this mean i have to jump my ground as well?
I am adding a Defiant programmable #32648, but the light switch has only a black wire (hot) and a white. The ground copper bare wire is not connected to the light. There are no neutral or common wire on any of the 3 light switches: 1 to the porch lights, 2 to dining room chandelier, & 3rd to ceiling foyer light. Went to Home Depot to ask what to do, was asked to just add a common wire hooked up to either a electrical outlet or ceiling light. I am not clear to where i add the common wire to the digital programmable Defiant?
I installed the timer and it works but my lights are very dim and when I push the on and off button, the lights come on really dim. And go off but stays on. I use led lights for my out side lights

Hello. I have a GE inwall digital timer #15806. I programed it and it works fine but it keeps flashing the word "timer" next to the clock display. It had never done that before and the instruction sheet says nothing about why it would be doing this. Can you explain this to me and how to fix it. Thank you.

Hey, if you shut the circuit breaker off that supplies the electricity to that light and then go inside and flip the switch on and off and the lights don’t come on like they usually do then you can be pretty sure that the power is off. There are some rare circumstances though where this might not be an accurate way to do it, for example the switch is broken or a wire came loose. The only way to know for sure is with a multimeter or voltage tester. As long as the two different light fixtures are currently being controlled by two 3 way switches then this should work. Just make sure to follow the instructions and diagram in the instructions as they won’t be wired exactly like your typical 3 way switch. I hope this helps! Thank you for the feedback!

has your switch stopped working yet? once the internal battery expires it will no longer hold programming, then it becomes a regular switch and you can't fix it.

I also have more than one of these installed. There is no way to sync them perfectly, outside of setting the time on one of them and then timing out a minute and then setting the next one. It probably won't be perfect but it can be darn close. Good luck!
If I have a duplex light switch for a hallway and for outside and I want this to control only outside light, does it mean I have to have 2 switches for each light, inside and the outside? What time Zone do you set for California. The options sre NOR, CENT, SOU, & PRI. So, which one for California?

In order to be on a timer and a dimmer, you would probably need to buy a smart switch that can be programmed on your phone.
If the load and line wire sometimes are different colors would the red wire be the line wire or the other way?
Use a multimeter to measure voltage

Yes you would need 2 separate switches in that case. If it is not lit up then more than likely the wiring was not done correctly.
