Her father was a maestro. When she was a kid, he didn't want her to be a famous singer in America so she could live a normal life in the Usa. So she was a famous kid singer overseas mainly in Europe and South America.
Saw u 4 the first time @ Prince's concert @ the Forum I believe 2011. AFter that I downloaded all your albums! I am a BIG Prince fan and many artists TRY 2 cover His songs and Fail . I believe Prince would approve of your version of His song! :) God Bless Nikka !
Fell in love with her when I saw the Like a feather video on BET, and was very lucky to see her soon after at Paisley Park. Years later I got lucky again, and saw her perform in this very tiny room in the basement of some club in Venice, Ca.
I love Sinead O’Connor’s version. It is beautiful and perfect. This also is amazing and perfect, but in its own incredible way. How two versions could be so unique and so perfect is amazing.
FINALLY got a CD copy of the album this song originated from just a few days ago 😁🎆👍! Took a while to track one down, but it was indeed well worth the effort. I now have all of Nikka's essential work and couldn't be happier. She's a living legend as of today, but it's a shame her talent has been greatly underappreciated here in the States 😮💨😔. Only three things left for her to do at this point in her career: 1) plan a long-overdue US release of her one true breakthrough "adult" album (1996's 'Butterfly Rocket', available only in Australia unfortunately), 2) put out a DEFINITIVE CD reissue of her 2005 album 'Can'tneverdidnothin'' with those 3 omitted tracks that were previously featured on the 2004 advance promo copy version: "I Don't Think We've Met", "I'm Gonna Leave You", and "The Last Time", and 3) GET A LIVE CD/DVD SET OUT ALREADY!!! That said, glad to have Nikka as a permanent fixture in my ever-expanding/evolving music collection! 😉👌
