I really adored this film, it made me feel nostalgic for an era that I didn't even live through, and the performances are so powerful and charismatic, especially by the child actors.

After seeing the movie Belfast recently, I am really surprised, sad and disappointed that it did not win the Oskar for best movie! The storyline the acting of the brilliant actors all deserve an Oscar of their own. The film is beautifully made and directed, it takes you right into the heart of Belfast and lets you experience the real things that happened. I am in tears as to why the film was not given the best picture by the Oscar comities .
I liked this film, had some problems but a lot of nice little bits. Like how the boy couldn't figure out what to loot, and told him mom, "it's BIOLOGICAL!" And everyone using their normal accents & tone, refreshing.
I'll be watching this next week. After watching this video, it reminds me of stories a friend of mine, Brendan Kelly has told me of his own families experiences during this time.

Catriona is excellent, but also Judie Dench, she is great, and above all, it is a true supporting role, not like Catriona who is practically the protagonist, Dench is my favorite to win the award (although she will not win it)

Without the whole cast the movie won't exist not only Balfe character, without Ken grand parents or his PA the movie won't be as it is. Period

Something I noticed about this year's movies, with a few tweaks (where's Da?) Licorice Pizza could've been a sequel to Belfast.
