The film is based on ancient Slavic myths and legends, and also inspired by a classic Ukrainian literature masterpiece “The Forest Song” by Lesya Ukrainka. It features a unique female character, Mavka - the Soul of the Forest and its Guardian.
MAVKA. THE FOREST SONG is set in a magical world filled with original characters. The trailer offers a sneak peek into some of the events of the animated feature and its amazing locations and characters: beautiful Mavka, talented musician Lukas, his uncle Leo, Mavka’s friends Swampy the Kittyfrog and grumpy forest noisekeeper Hush, ancient Forest Guardian - Lesh, mysterious water Nymph Ondine, as well as the main villain - the insidious and greedy Kylina accompanied by her minions.

FINALLY AFTER YEARS OF WAITING, i was literally hooked on the first trailer.. although kinda disappointed that they changed her appearance i would still want to see this!!!
You will be able to see this animated film in about a year. If only we could defend Ukraine, which Putin is now trying to conquer. Because the animation studio Animagrad is located in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.

We are holding on for now. The Russian Blitzkrieg failed. We are inflicting enormous damage on them both in military equipment and in manpower. Their army acts rather stupidly, but vilely and unscrupulously bombing peaceful cities, orphanages and hospitals, sometimes trying to hide behind civilians. I just don't know how far Putin, who has apparently gone crazy, will go. Now it is very important to stop it by all possible means.

This story (play) was written by the famous Ukrainian writer Lesya Ukrainka in 1911 . She wrote this masterpiece in just three weeks in Kutaisi in the Caucasus. Kutaisi (Caucasus). Lesya was very distressed about her father's country, and her illness again triggered it. The idea to create a " Forest song" was inspired by the memories of her childhood 💛💙

Дуже сподіваюсь що зможемо подивитись нарешті на великому екрані. Команда молодці! Це був важкий проект, але добро що його закінчили. І коли будете порівнювати цей мультик з діснеївськими проєеєктами, не забувайте що за бюджет який витратили на цей мульт, дісней витрачає лише на трейлер до своїх проектів. Ну і у нас була команда біля 70 людей, а дісней працює по 500+. Гарного перегляду)
Я аніматор, що працює в міжнародному серіальному 2д проекті, і знаю, наскільки важко випускати у реліз проекти, якщо ти не Дісней чи Піксар. Коли дивилася в кінотеатрі Мавку, перше, що спало на думку - який неймовірний труд вкладений у цей проект, яка неймовірна режисура. Мені прикро чути чи бачити в коментарях хейт - чи то не такий сюжет, чи то анімація не та, очікування інші були.. Ваша команда - просто герої, створити такий продукт! Адаптувати сюжет для всіх вікових категорій та сучасних реалій, створити таких НЕЙМОВІРНИХ АНТРОПОМОРФІВ, вірніше, відтворити їх архетипні образи! Я скидаю посилення на цей трейлер своїм іноземним колегам та пишаюся. А найголовніше - моя 7ми річна донька тепер фарбує волосся у смарагдовий, купує блокноти та наліпки, сукенки та шкарпетки - все що можна знайти серед ліцензійних матеріалів "Мавки", це я вважаю, головне визнання) і так чудово що це сукня з Квусем, а не Мікі маусом)

Можливо треба було з"економити на "зiрках", а краще зробити нормальну анiмацiю Лукашу? В нього рухи дерев"янi. Да i концепт не зрозумiлий, то мультяшний то кiношний. Складно було обрати один? Не знаю, як на мене - нi риба нi м"ясо. Краще звiсно за Кожум'яка, але такi сер"йознi ляпи, явно не додають проекту...
I watched it today in the Netherlands. Great, it was available in Ukrainian as well. Loved the movie! If it is in the cinema in your city, don't think twice, buy a ticket and enjoy it!
Коли побачила вперше трейлер нової Мавки, то сильно засмутилася. Але подивившись на те, скільки сил та старань вкладено у цей проєкт, скільки людей працювало, я переосмислила. Вважаю, що мультфільм буде чарівним та вартий переглядів. І готова звикнути до видозмінень, бо бачу, що створювали з душею та наполегливістю. Спасибі за ваш труд, Animagrad!

Although I liked Mavka more in the previous trailer 4 years ago, but I know that a good story changes much. The story and the charachters develope and it's a long journey from conception to the movie theaters.
I am hopeful as the trailer had great vibes.
The animation is beautiful, the forest is magical and the mountains is also very beautiful. The village inspired by easter eggs is beautiful and creative, it's amazing!
I don't know the music of the movie, or the plot (as it's not released yet) but I looked up the Mavka mythology, and I hope the creators really draw much from it.
As for the music I hope it will have at least one song(like 'The Stolen Princess'), but it would be best if it were a musical entirely.
Nevertheless I can't wait for it and I hope the wait was worth it. Respect Mavka! 💚
The creators of the cartoons said that there would be songs, but their main characters would not be singing, but someone out of the picture. But if Russia conquers Ukraine in the coming days, this animated film will most likely not appear at all. Because the animation studio Animagrad is located in Kiev.

Guess there were many on and off in the production. I too find it disappointing. The Mavka I pictured was much more mysterious and magical.
4 years ago a teaser trailer and now a trailer. looks interesting.
They recently wrote about their work on this project, and about the difficulties they had to overcome. In 2017, they released something like a test video, which they called a teaser trailer. Then the project "Mavka" was at the stage of preliminary development and they were preparing for the release of a completely different project.

This literally looks like if Mother Nature had a daughter, this is so beautiful, I love it im definitely going to watch this.
To be honest, I terribly like it. I thought that the first version was better, but at this one mavka seems more humanly. I can't wait to see the whole movie. Four years is a long time, but I think it was worth waiting for.

I prefer the old design of Mavka, specialy the dress and her hair, but the new one is still cute, so it's great. The landscapes are great too.
I don't think there will be a japanese sub/dub for ever, but well, the english dub looks good so I think I will watch this one since I'm not fluent at all at Ukrainian (Unless if there will be an Ukrainian version with English subs :3).

This story sounds amazing. For a couple of years now (especially during pandemic), I have been feeling low and movies help. But what I crave is new animation romance. There is one that helps but it hasn’t gone far. Yet I see this trailer and I have a feeling it will give what I hope for. Excited to see it 😊💞🤞🏻

Totally agree. We need more animated romances out there and thankfully the world has delivered since 2020, and this can add to that. I just hope that this wonderful looking film after all its long development can finally be released. Who knows if it will be delayed now during this war, but would surely be something great for people to raise their spirits at Christmas.

Okay, the animation is so great! Like, this is Disney level good. This actually looks really cool. Always love stuff from other countries! 🙂 Not sure if the English dubbing will give it justice, but here's hoping it does. I'll probably watch both versions.

I just saw it in the cinema yesterday. I cant believe how well this is all came together. I loved it. Certain scenes made me tear up too 😅 but well done. Its a very good movie.

A little reminder for the people who critique the animation harshly. Mavka's design was more complicated and polished before, but due to the limited budget of the studio the animators were unable to render it and keep the quality of the animation, thus leading to this more simple and easier to animate design. Also Ukraine was in literal war during the production of the movie and animators had to work in BUNKERS in order to finish this wonderful project.
Also why do people find the story to be woke? Protecting the forest isn't a new messege, for example respecting the forest and it's guardian the Leshy has been part of Slavic beliefs and mythology for centuries. And considering the problem of illegal deforestation and the global warming the messege is even more relevant now.
And if you are one of the white Americans who doesn't know anything about Slavic culture and dares to call it satanic please do actual research on our traditions, dances and culture.

I've been waiting for this movie for 6 years and I just found out that it was already released (I found out a week ago). This movie is so meaningful. I wish a lot of people will see this movie more. It's a masterpiece. It shows a perspective of what our nature is feeling whenever we destroy it. When we take advantage of nature in a cruel way, in the end the nature will revenge. What you do to it will come back to you. We must be thankful for nature, the forest, the ocean, our source of life. Without them, we will die. The greed for authority, money and power. The sacrifice one must make for their loved ones. The disadvantage of being too kind where you let your guard down. This is not an animation, it is more than animation. It deserves an award and the people behind this.
What I learned: our nature is very important. Therefore, we must not abuse it. Greed causes destruction, short pleasures do not satisfy you forever. Be kind-but not too kind where you are blinded by your surroundings. One will do everything/anything for their loved ones even if it takes something out of them. We are not the only living things in this world so we must not be ignorant.
A 9/10 movies worth watching. Thank you to everyone involved in this movie. You delivered the messages well. Exquisite animation though I must say I loved the first trailer but I think what we have now is also beautiful. I gave it a 9/10. I love everything in it but it's the dialogue that sometimes feel off (to me) but overall it is a must watch movie. Splendid. Bravo, I cannot say more, you all did great.

I just watched the movie it’s amazing!!!
I watched the previous trailer many years ago and was awestruck with Mavka's design. Her hair, her face, and her structure were marvelous. Now, I come across with the full movie while I was browsing on a movie site. All throughout the movie, I couldn't help but admire Mavka's design. She was literally gorgeous. After watching the movie, I went to search the old trailer and saw the difference between her old and new design. People in the comments section preferred the old one, but I've gotta say the new one is better. Not only does Mavka look beautiful, but her appearance matches with her character as well: innocent, kind, simple, and youthful. I so so love her new design, imo 🤧❤️

in 2019, it was news that Koch Films had acquired the rights to show this animated film in Germany and Austria. I don't know if it is final, but at least there is every chance that it will be shown to you. At least this animated film will definitely be shown in the world.

Очень обидно, что образ Мавки так изменился за 5 лет, с момента первого трейлера. Сначала подумала, что это совершенно другой мульфильм. Нет прежней загадочности, таинственности, неповторимости, волшебного очарования. Очень грустно однако.
Ця Мавка виглядає більш сповненою та закінченою. Перший прототип виглядав дуже наляписто та не практично для анімації та перегляду. Ця ж просто красуня. В 5млн доларів бюджет це ДУЖЕ якісна робота , треба цінувати те , що наші намагаються та стараються що є сили вийти на рівень Діснею , не маючи таких техногологій та бюджету як у них. Наші аніматори самі найкращі

Жаль, що Мавка не вийшла в 2015 з попереднім дизайном. Стільки років її волочать. Покоління тих дітей виросло. Зараз під час війни чи одразу після неї збори геть нікчемні будуть. Цей проект ніколи не окупиться. Проте я і мої рідні його таки ждуть. Дуже хотілося б, щоб на стільки довгоочікуваний проект хоч би не розчарував сюжетом. На дизайн і графіку вже майже все одно.
Повністю з вами погоджусь, але бокс офіс може бути хорошим за рахунок міжнародного релізу.

Mavka's dress looks like some kind of curtains, the authors think that everyone loves modernism so much, her hair is bright as green cheap paint, she looks like an American feminist. Also, the eco-Marxism agenda was inserted into the script, the guy was shown as a moron who does not have his brains. Mavka looks like a modern Instagram girl of the 21st century
