This has got to be the most challenging run I've ever seen. Extremely narrow, really steep, and oh yes, it's slanted off to the left I remember my first experience at Stowe, looking up at the National thinking that it looked so small. That was until I got on the trail itself and couldn't believe how steep it really was! That's the thing about Stowe - it looks so much smaller that it actually is. Great video!
@ezpznoob8092 Not quite. Check out videos on DJ's Tramline at Cannon. THAT'S truly as difficult as eastern ski trails get. That isn't to say Goat isn't nonetheless extremely difficult.
Well done. Stowe is where I have my ski house. On this run, I ski glades just to the left of goat. It very think at the top, but opens up to some nice lines.
@@stevenbudnick1252 If one keeps skiing down from the left glade side of goat, you will come across the zip line station. On big powder days, we ski off the ceiling. Need to hit it and land to the right, otherwise deck rails might split ur pants...lol
@@skibumalldasy cool ! My buddy from Essex Junction, Vt took me in there somewhere it was -5 out. When we finished at the bottom we had STEAM coming off our backs ! we named it Goat Sweat !
@@stevenbudnick1252 Goat will test your legs no fucking Doubt. I've only seen a handful of skiers run down without a break. That's why I like the glades, lots of fresh lines and still enjoy the steep.
from what I understand, the front four don't keep snow very well. I only ever skied Starr. I think Goat was closed. but they get skied off VERY quickly. comparing video of Goat to my experience on Starr, I think Goat is more difficult because the head wall isn't straight (similar to Catwalk at Killington), and it appears to last longer. When I did Starr, we (my father and I) navigated the head wall in maybe 10 criss crosses of the trail. it was more exposed ice whereas this video shows more exposed rock, but the middle of the trail was un-skiable except to cross over in certain spots. that said, the head wall on Starr was shorter and then it was just an amazingly fun mogul field (relatively shallow pitch). Goat looks like it holds its pitch for a longer run. /2cenets
Skied Goat MANY times. Love the trail. When there is a lot of snow one of the best trails in New England…. If you like steep narrow bump trails like myself and my daughters.
What has been the best time of year, for conditions to ski at Stowe? Been a long time since I skied there. Been skiing out west, skied Goat when I was 15.... along time ago😂 nice video
This is hilarious. I should make a video so that people can see how this should actually be skied. It only looks difficult when you're taking your sweet old time, I suppose.
@@philipgardiner2003 true that! Also one of the biggest factors that plays into difficulty on any trail is snow conditions and we know how that goes on the East Coast most of the time
Grew up in the east and live in the west now. Goat is legit one of the hardest trails out there. Narrow, steep, long and usually no decent coverage. I’d rank it right up there with anything in the west.
you have no idea how steep goat is... star is steep too.....the video makes it look flat....they are both cliffs.....it is terrifying....this is coming from a skier who spent 15 years racing in vermont at smugglers notch/madonna as a 3,4, and 1 and 2 skier...one slip on these trails and you dont make it home!!!!!

That isnt a run,that is s noose.
This is as hard as it gets, At least out east

i had the chance to do this a few weeks ago. one of the hardest trails on the east coast for sure.

That looks exhausting ! Tough trail !
snow conditions look really good
Listen to all that ice , ug . Glad I live in Denver now !

Hey Steve … Strong Work ! Upper Goat is always a challenge. 😊
Thanks, John!!

I always recommend early March for a Stowe visit! Though it has been hard to say over the last couple of years…
The Front Four at as I think Goat and 3 other trails are called ski lots better with snow on them...LOL
Not a chance I’d attempt that ,too narrow rocky and icy
The goat is one of the hardest trails there kinda suprised that you didn’t die
😂
I’ve Seen goat before when I went down and there’s a caution thing saying experts only
Yup

Pretty good work... really tough trail!
Are these Sky 7s?
Soul 7s
Exposed rock AND ice? Nope.
😂
Please tell me this is marked as double black.
It is a double black.
@@stephenbeattie6606 Looks pretty steep.

@@stephenbeattie6606 Yeah sometimes hard to show how steep things are in video or photo. No doubt this one is wild.
Just doesn’t look fun at all lol
This would be equivalent to a regular black diamond in the west coast.
Having skied plenty on the west coast, no lol. If you can ski double diamonds on the east coast you can do anything on the west coast
Nope.
The west coast has couloirs that are steeper and narrower but there’s only on Goat, just like there’s only one Alf’s High Rustler. 😂
