Puffing Billy Train - Iconic Australian Tourist Attraction

Puffing Billy is Australia's premier preserved steam railway and operates everyday except Christmas Day!
The train journey takes you through the magnificent Dandenong Ranges, located only one hour east of Melbourne.
With lush fern gullies brushing past and Mountain Ash trees towering overhead, Puffing Billy makes for a wonderful opportunity to relax and breathe in the fresh air whilst the train makes its way through the temperate rainforest.
Visitors from around the world enjoy travelling aboard Puffing Billy as a stand-alone experience or as part of a Melbourne day tour.

I teared up, with nostalgia, recalling memories of the very early eighties, riding with legs out the window, and, with the driver and fireman, after dad (a metallurgist) having a quick yarn with them.
We'd stop at the Zig Zag railway whenever passing too - I only ever remember riding in a carriage on one occasion - when mum came, took - otherwise, dad would get a ride for the three of us, including my sister, in the locomotive, 'assisting' the fireman shovel the coal...how great it was...
