I suggest you replacing the PCV valve once you replace both cam plugs in order to avoid getting liquid oil instead of vapor oil in the manifold, it must be cooked after 200K miles
I am so thankful for the simplicity and simple problems of my 1987 300d. In the process of new flex discs. Carrier bearing. Cv boots. Parking Brake Shoes. And rear suspension links set. But I started out just doing cv boots. I am sp glad I dont have all the over ingenered problems of modern mercedes. Good luck with her. Sounds like you have your hands full. When I was young my father told me if it has tits or tires it will give you problems. He was a wise man. 😆 🤣 😂
I wonder if you have a green button in your trunk door. I wonder if that is sticking and not releasing. Ive seen that keep the door from closing. Ppl just have to work that switch and it starts working. Its like it gets corroded and never used so the contacts corrode up. Another thiught was what if you have to sit in the seat befkre the front trunk button works. I am just trying to thinknwhy the difference from the fob button.

Probably needs a new washer reservoir pump ,,,they are quite cheap and easy to replace.
Eventually they leak internally and then drip.
