After all this. Im so happy and shocked to see Belle , The Sleeping Car in the Broadway version of SE. I hope with great optimistic love this role is not only included but given more stage time. I love this role.
I love this solo song and this particular performance. From a dramaturgic point of view though I dont really get why belle is even in there. Whats her purpose here really?
@@alexanderkegel593 In the original plot, Rusty didn't have a partner for the heats, so Poppa suggested he use Belle, who was washed up and even Rusty (who was looked down upon by the other trains) thought she was too old. Thus, this song is about her heyday and convinces Rusty to race with Belle.
A lot different from the lyrics I know Im belle belle belle the sleeping car Doesnt matter who you are Just climb aboard and lie with me And when you wake I'll make you tea A pullman car when I was made I went down by the seaside trade I'm peeling now, the lights too bright I wear dark glasses day and night I had crystal lamps, Irish linen To set off my red velvet dress Those who rode on me compared me to The Orient Express.... That was excessive Now they climb aboard undress Don't wait for me to whisper yes Just hit the light, dont say goodnight And worst of all roll over and go straight to sleep Once I Was a real mainliner Enjoyed the occasional smoke Now I hang around the fuel dump Sniffing the coke It really chokes me.. I'm Belle Belle Belle, the sleeping Truck I'm down at heel down on my luck I may not be first class But I'm not yet worst class I can till warm you when the nights are cold I'm a sleeper with a heart of gold
Bunnyinthebasement hello! No problem. Sadly there is no video footage of AC/DC. As this bootleg starts at the very end of the song. There is audios of AC/DC from broadway though!
Belle is so underrated imo! I’m writing a junior version of the Bway script, and giving Belle more purpose in the show! She’s amazing!

Im belle belle belle the sleeping car
Doesnt matter who you are
Just climb aboard and lie with me
And when you wake I'll make you tea
A pullman car when I was made
I went down by the seaside trade
I'm peeling now, the lights too bright
I wear dark glasses day and night
I had crystal lamps, Irish linen
To set off my red velvet dress
Those who rode on me compared me to
The Orient Express....
That was excessive
Now they climb aboard undress
Don't wait for me to whisper yes
Just hit the light, dont say goodnight
And worst of all roll over and go straight to sleep
Once I Was a real mainliner
Enjoyed the occasional smoke
Now I hang around the fuel dump
Sniffing the coke
It really chokes me..

I can till warm you when the nights are cold

Might be the original West End lyrics. But I don't know for sure.
@@annivombach1101 yeah, West End and Broadway had different lyrics during their runs
Yea its the west end lyrics (which are the best in my opinion)
Thanks for posting. ^^
Does anyone happen to know if anyone might have footage of the Broadway "AC/DC"?
