Tekken 4 gets forgotten about a lot but one thing people don't realize is how clever and smart the devs were when bringing back Kazuya and Jin to be in the same game for the first time. Tekken 3 Jin fights almost exactly like Kazuya so when Tekken 4 rolled around, they changed Jin's style so that him and Kazuya wouldn't be 1A and 1B. Pretty awesome if you think about it
Tekken 3 was the first game I ever played and it’s what got me into gaming as a whole. Played every single tekken and loved them all. Tekken 4 for me is still beautiful to this day in terms of sound and environment art Now I’m a game designer. My the influence is real here

Living Abstraction there’s also Tekken 5. It was obvious we were stepping into some pretty weird territory with 5 and DR (and I despise Lili as a character) but Tekken 5 gave us Devil Jin, Dragunov, it brought back Eddy, Baek, Armor King, Wang, Bruce, and technically Jun in the form of Asuka, (who although I absolutely love the character, I wish she was the potential helping hand to Jin that I was waiting for, instead of wasting her time on a rivalry that literally means nothing) we got Devil Within (which in my opinion is the superior variation of any of Tekken’s beat-em-up modes) and it showed that certain characters were indeed going places with their stories. In terms of endings, Paul is literally depicted as starting his path to become the toughest fighter in the universe, Wang sees his old friend again for the last time, Devil Jin actually feels more threatening than Jin, Asuka is given a moment to be a hero to Jin and potentially everyone else (albeit in a comedic fashion but it still has a lot of weight to it. Besides, at least it was legitimately funny) and Mokujin, a character I probably may not ever competitively play as, feels like an actual protector of the earth. In his ending, he’s just like “welp, I just defeated something that could destroy the world, so now my job is done. @@3badthebad When I was a kid I used to play Tekken 4-5. Bro these games are so funny. I played too Tekken 6, yeah it’s a good game, but not good like Tekken 4 and 5.
I think it's because they ditched the yin and yang theme to Jin's story as well. By the end of 4, it seemed that Jin had achieved enlightenment (Buddha) by controlling the devil inside of him. You even see the white feather at the end reinforcing the theme. But by subsequent games they ditched all of that completely and Jin again loses control of himself when he turns devil and he views it as something to destroy, not something to control. I know no one plays fighting games for the story, but I think it's a shame as I like the direction they were taking Jin in 4.
@@jerichogm14 Technically tekken 7 brought that back since jin is now kind of back to his original goal, and now he doesnt want to start wars all over the place like in t6

Well, when you're a Shonen Protagonist-type of person who went violent against an alien weapon who is responsible for killing your mom, mixed with getting shot by your paternal grandfather because of his obsession with power (which, in turns, triggers a dangerous impulse feom your dad) it's safe to assume that family relations are strained.
What I don't understand about the whole unlearning Mishima-ryu thing is why did he also lose moves that he got from his mother like the Can Can and the White Heron, because Jin in Tekken 3 is basically Kazuya with a sprinkle of Jun.
The double kick's (d+3+4) official name is Can Can in T3 and, yeah, it's still there so I'm wrong on that one. He still lost White Heron (1+4, 2) and Tooth Fairy (SS+2, which is Jun's f+2). Nowadays only Asuka has those moves, because Jin chose to forget them from 4 onward.
In the canon, Kazuya loses to both Jin and Heihachi. For being the final boss of Tekken 7 and 8, his track record is not looking good as the OG Tekken "protagonist."
Since this ending is canon, it apparently means that traditional karate is far stronger than the Mishima fighting style. Jin literally used it to beat his own father and grandfather, who were masters of fighting, and Jin had fair less fighting experience. Kinda sad on their part, lol
Jin’s design in this game was superb. The yin yang representing his inner conflict, with the light overpowering the dark in this game only for 5 to give him a predominantly black design to emphasise the darkness taking hold of him. Very clever character design.
Except Jin didn’t unlearn Mishima-Ryu, because he can still do it in Tekken Tag 2. I know it’s non-canon but it takes place around Tekken 6 doesn’t it? And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Jin has a secret command that partially changes his fighting style to give him traditional Mishima-Ryu moves, like the dragon uppercut, the wind god Fist, the spinning demon, demon slayer, (maybe stonehead but I didn’t see it) and he even has a seven hit combo that’s unique to him in that style, so tie that in with a wall hit followed up by Jin’s 5/6-hit combo and you should get a twelve or thirteen hit combo. It also changes his stance to be similar to Heihachi’s stance. The command is “During Power Stance LP ~ RK”.
That's a move called "Omen", wich he had also in Tag Tournament 1, it unleashes the Devil Gene within him, but has nothing to do with Jin himself, as the one in control is Devil Jin, who uses the Mishima-Ryu style.
Well I doubt anyone actually looked at this game and just outright said “yeah this is a piece of trash” like how we do with Street Fighter 5. There are actually a ton of things this game has that I’m frustrated hasn’t come back in the more recent Tekken games, I like the idea of uneven stages and stage obstacles, even if it is frustrating to know that some attacks become useless depending on where your opponent is standing, I like the idea of it, both in concept and in practice, it allows for some stronger ways to think about handling combos, and a downward slope when already doing a combo works as an excellent combo extension, in the same vain as a breakable wall or floor, only there’s no sequence breaking. I developed an alternate 10-hit combo with Jin in Tekken Tag 2, so with an uneven terrain, I could possibly make it a 20 or 25-hit combo.
It was hated at the time but this one has a pretty big cult following so idk why they wouldn't either. It has the best story and they could just expand the roster. If they just update the graphics and tweak some balancing (without messing up a lot of the core mechanics. No rage pls) it would be a very solid game.
TBH its the most underrated Tekken, it has the original announcer from my favorite tekken 3, you can move before you fight, and the vibe man its so GOOD. But for me the best Tekken of all time is… yes, is Tekken 5. It has unique depressing and memorable Sub-boss and final boss, Can play old tekken games (ex. Tekken 4), better music… yes ground zero funk is the best, legendary and the best Intro, variety of character and for me better graphic. I think its not all whats good on it but overral its better. I know its my personal opinion cause its my first Tekken on PS 2. Maybe if i play tekken 4 first, i will change my mind. But for now Tekken 5 its the best
4 have better music. T5 soundtrack is forgettable outside Ground Zero Funk and Moonlight Wilderness. Plus the models and designs look worse than Tekken 4 although I'd still rank it above 4 just in terms of overall package. I'd still put 2 above it for aesthetic reasons.
Sir,I have a request. Could you make a video of Tekken 4 that Hwoarang VS Jin Kazama in Airport stage of 5 rounds. I just love the music of touch n go airport stage. Thank you for your concern.
The best part of this game: the ending here. Then the Jacks busting in the dojo, directly connected to the opening trailer of the next game - Tekken 5.
Tekken 4 was on par with 3 , everything else after became just like most modern movies over edited, over produced...classic ps2 vibes from this. Love it
Over edited and over produced? Dude Tekken always strived for a "realistic" look compared the more cartoony Street Fighter (I like SF btw) ever since the first game, that's why the first Tekken games look so outdated.

@@JacOfArts it also has a certain charm that the others lack.
It was hated at the time but this one has a pretty big cult following so idk why they wouldn't either. It has the best story and they could just expand the roster. If they just update the graphics and tweak some balancing (without messing up a lot of the core mechanics. No rage pls) it would be a very solid game.
Fluffy Knight don't forget online multiplayer 😁
@FBI Alypstick That's just FGC turds and Harada fanboys.
Tekken 4 bring back memories.
Tekken 4 was the shit i miss playing this
This game is way ahead of it's time.
4:15 reminds me of def jam
When i first saw this stage it blow my mind. I didn't tought videogames were capable to create a scenario like this
T4, has the best story mode out of all the other Tekken games 💯💯
Jin kazama kyokushin style❤
1:06 how do you UNLEARN something you LEARNED... ik being LAZY is one of them
It's muscle memory. Once you do something frequently, you can erase older habits by overriding it.
as you unlearn a bad habit
@@tfwnoyandere, nobody unlearns bad habits, they just learn to do avoid them

Jin and Xiaoyu are very cute together 😍😍😍
This video game bring back so many good memories for me i love Tekken
My favorite marduk " I'll break your face " 7:58
Manny Perez yeah he sounds a little more vicious in this game
Sts
Jin to Marduk: no u
Sir,I have a request. Could you make a video of Tekken 4 that Hwoarang VS Jin Kazama in Airport stage of 5 rounds. I just love the music of touch n go airport stage. Thank you for your concern.
Incredible game ever🥹❤
Oh my so many memories. Used to do all nighters with my.mates playing this
If they remastered and remade all tekkens in a whole set that would be awesome
That Jin Costume is so nostalgic
My favorite Tekken of all time
My first Tekken game....played when I was 4.
Best music ever in this tekken
Aside from the facial rendering on a few characters the graphics of this game still hold up today which is wild.
لعبة جميلة جدا جدا جدا 😃😃😃😃😃
I came here because of Tekken Bloodline.
9:21 "Freeze!"
ДЖИН, ЧЁТКО ЧЕРЕЗ СЕБЯ ПЕРЕКИДЫВАЕТ!!!
I always thought Jin was so cool! So mysterious! I thought he was Kazuya's little brother when I was younger...boy was I off by a mile!
Same XD
The best part of this game: the ending here. Then the Jacks busting in the dojo, directly connected to the opening trailer of the next game - Tekken 5.
These grafics were realistic asf in them days i remember having a ps2 and this game along side jak 2 and ffx
Like how tekken8 was consistent with that white angel feather
Tekken 4 was on par with 3 , everything else after became just like most modern movies over edited, over produced...classic ps2 vibes from this. Love it
Tekken 5 was even better than 4 actually
Over edited and over produced? Dude Tekken always strived for a "realistic" look compared the more cartoony Street Fighter (I like SF btw) ever since the first game, that's why the first Tekken games look so outdated.
@@crystalalumina Funny thing is Tekken now look more cartoonish than ever as the roster is basically Mugen characters.
9:17 that’s cold wit the echo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Why paul phoenix hair is short in tekken 4 story mode of jin? TFTA
Man, I love and miss the little detail they added after a character loses a round. They get up and swing their arm pissed off awaiting for round 2.
I wonder why they did away with that.
Wow that really used the same grunts for Jin from Tekken 4 all the way to Tekken 7.
Awesome.I will give spirit to you, jin.Hope tekken will be intersting and great
Tekken 4 probably has the best outfits (excluding Tekken 7)
My favorite tekken! Also remember in the mall area you could run up the wall and punch opponents! I didn’t it once and could never figure how to do it again! Did it with Steve Fox
Jin’s drip is a 10/10 this game🔥
What a awesome game! I still have it! Cool video
Does anyone have that epic drum music that plays when Heihachi is getting ready to fight Jin by itself in a video?
We all know why Jin had to train in Brisbane. He had infinite amount of seasoned lads and bogans to fight.
back in march 2003 i was played this game
For me 2005 when I was 12. Got this just only a little while before Tekken 5
