South Korea investigators attempt to arrest impeached president for second time | BBC News

  • South Korean investigators are trying once more to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol following a failed attempt earlier this month.
They had tried to arrest Yoon on 3 January but had to turn back after being locked in an hours-long stand-off with members of the Presidential Security Service (PSS).
The arrest is expected to be carried out with the help of veteran police detectives, local media reported.
Lawyers for Yoon have criticised the planned use of police officers, saying it was a betrayal of the public.
Yoon's impeachment trial, which will decide if he is removed from office, started yesterday but ended within four minutes because of his absence.

South Koreans are showing the world in live TV right here that they are capable of excercising peacefull DEMOCRATIC process. Anyone who is liable to breach the law must stand at court even if that one is the current president. South Koreans should be PROUD that due democratic process is taking place peacefully and I am comfident that South Korea will be ever more resiliant coming out through this.

Actually, he was a president who fought against systemic corruption rampant in South Korea.
During the past five years under the previous administration (current opposition party), a cartel gradually formed under the current opposition party, paralyzing the functions of state institutions and monopolizing power.
This group weakened national security by promoting industrial espionage in the country’s key industries and deliberately leaking the personal information of intelligence agents. They also politicized judicial institutions, undermined the South Korea-U.S. alliance, and sought to withdraw U.S. forces from the peninsula. Furthermore, they monopolized power, misused national finances, and distributed subsidies to their supporters and organizations, thereby seizing control of the media and civil society groups. In contrast, the president pursued unpopular policies, such as strengthening exchanges with Japan, for the sake of national interest.
Now the cartel leveraged illegally issued arrest warrant by corrupted judges to get to the president and succeeded.
I am sharing this information to provide a clearer understanding of the situation.
Younger generations in South Korea are waking up to these facts and a lot of them are taking to the streets in support of the president.
In short, the president is democracy, the opposition party is criminal cartel.

EXPLANATION FOR ENGLISH VIEWERS (please upvote): the democratic party (opposing the president) took 190 seats in the house/senate (we have that shit combined doing election fraud and umm ... they won't pass a law that can punish ANYONE other than north koreans from spying so there was this chinese that was spying on US military installations with drones and we have no laws to punish them because under our espionage law only north koreans are considered "enemies" and shit. and um... now theyr'e going to pass a law that says that if you question the integrity of the election you get 10 years or up to 1 0 years in prison. It was a shit storm, so Yoon declared martial law while seizing the election office servers. They're worried the forensics results will come out, so they desperately enacted this warrant. voice of america (korea) a US govt publication mentioned how they're arresting people sending money to north korea. anyways, the democratic party leader's codefendant was convicted of that, sending 8 Million there. he actually lost his first trial, in korea there's three trials. law division, appellate division, supreme court. he got 2 years prison in the law division, preventing him from being president. if he can get the current president out and get into power before the appellate division ruling comes back, he's saved. that's why they're speeding things up. If you need any further details please let us know

The true reason that president Yoon declared martial law just for 6 hours is to investigate alleged election fradulent which gave a big win to demogratic party (left-wing party). Election department and more than half of Korean media are on the side of demogratic party, president Yoon could not proceed any investigation but declaring the martial law. And among pro-impeachment protesters, there are many North Korean and Chinese spies working with because demogratic party is pro-North Korea and pro-China. Majority of Koreans now know the truth, president Yoon's approval rate has been rising up. And last 5 years of president Moon's period (democratic party), quite much of confidential information got leaked to China and North Korea. Further investigation is necessary but democratic MPs are delaying and preventing the process.

The ruling party (with Chinese Communist Party) is attempting to arrest the president to make him appear guilty before the second trial of the ruling party leader, Lee Jae-myung, on January 23, for charges of bribery and illegal remittances to North Korea. • @saiyedakhtar3931
      @saiyedakhtar3931 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

@123four... my point is that the process is silly. He's either he is the president or he's not. In the US, impeachment is a political process and is solely the jurisdiction of Congress. The House brings the charges to the senate and the senate votes to impeach. That's it. Once impeached, the person is no longer president and stripped of all power and is an ordinary citizen. The vice president takes over. The custom in America has been for the new president to pardon the ex president. This avoids the circus that could happen. Unfortunately, it could abd should have happened with Trump, like with Nixon. Anyway, there is no need for the president to show up. It's not a criminal process. After impeachment, criminal charges can be brought through the normal process like any accused. The impeachment process plays out like a trial in the senate where evidence from all parties discusses the issue and nature of charges. The president does not have to be present. Basically, the idea is that the people's representatives decide if actions are justified. This allows the political question to be decided completely. Again, the custom has usually been to pardon because after impeachment, you can never hold office again. Any office. Forever.

The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) went to the Western District Court, where the chief judge is a judicial training classmate of the CIO chief, and obtained an illegal arrest warrant. Without any investigative authority, they unlawfully took the president into custody. The CIO was established by the Democratic Party, which also passed a law stripping prosecutors of their investigative powers. With the president's arrest today, South Korea now faces the risk of becoming a second Hong Kong.

"I would like to explain the current situation in South Korea.
The country’s legislative branch is dominated by the Democratic Party, which many people view as resembling a communist party. There are widespread claims that the control was gained through election fraud facilitated by the National Election Commission. Despite calls for external investigations, the Democratic Party and the Election Commission have refused to conduct any inquiries and are now preparing laws to punish those who question the election results. Additionally, the Constitutional Court, judiciary, police, labor unions, civic groups, and media are all under the control of left-wing forces.
In this context, the president, as the head of the executive branch, tried to uncover the election fraud but found no way to do so. His only recourse was to declare martial law, and he immediately lifted following a lawful vote in the legislative branch after 6 hours. And then the Democratic Party attempted to impeach him on charges of treason. They realized that such a charge would backfire, so they stirred public opinion by labeling the situation as treason, and later changed the charge to one of external rebellion, accusing the president of aligning with China and North Korea. This inadvertently exposed the Democratic Party’s pro-China and pro-North Korea sympathies.
Moreover, an agency known as the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, which is aligned with the Democratic Party, illegally investigated the president, despite lacking the authority to do so. They obtained an arrest warrant from a district court in the western part of Seoul, which had no jurisdiction over the matter, and arrested the president illegally.
The president’s approval ratings are sharply rising, and there is a growing public demand for his return. In response, the government passed a law to punish anyone who expresses opposing views through platforms like TH-cam, Facebook, or KakaoTalk, mirroring the actions of the Chinese Communist Party. South Korea is now in a situation similar to when Hong Kong was taken over by China. While the people are waking up to these issues, key institutions have already been compromised.
I hope this explanation helps you better understand the situation in South Korea."

The impeachment, arrest, and detention of South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yeol are entirely constitutional measures, reflecting that democracy governed by the people is alive and well in the Republic of Korea. Yoon Suk-yeol, who unlawfully declared martial law, deserves to be held accountable for his actions, and citizens around the world witnessed these events live through the media. Stop spreading delusional and misleading comments to confuse the global audience. Don’t behave like a senseless, fanatical anti-communist.
