Richard Friend i think they started with x-men #62 for carlos pacheco then they did some uncanny, I think. Surely they did the hunt for xavier storyline
bruh...i want these comics...this is bringing me back to my childhood. there was this comic back in the day called vampi. they used to have different artist do alternate versions of their covers. this one in particular stood out to me and ive never forgot it. i always think of it when i remember this series. when you introduced steven platt i realized he is the guest artist that drew the vampi cover. i knew it was the same artist instantly by that insane style. at the time i didnt know it was him. (more so forgot reading his name in the credits, but i still didnt know who he was.) very cool video. i like how you go in depth with showcasing the art and info of the artists.
SPLATT is killer!, be cool if he returned and crowd funded a new comic. I'm missing issue 2 and 6 of Soul Saga would dig seeing. Also Francois Schuiten would another for the super detailed series.
I agree. He is amazing. Always thought he had a TON of potential to be the best of the best. And thanks for the recommendation for Francois Schuiten I am nearly sure I have at least 2 or 3 graphic novels he's done. I will for sure look. Thanks!
Tom McWeeney did the best inks over Madureira, he really managed to translate the organic quality of the pencils into inks, I'm a huge fan of tight and controlled looseness in art, you have to be a real master to be able to do it.. Tim Townsend in the X-Men comics was too mechanical and robotic but he did great on the BC issue 7 years later. Shame people don't give McWeeney more praise, I've read that he damaged his wrist and stopped inking due to pain. My dream is to have enough money to one day buy a BC page that was inked by him.
His back was creating hand pain I think. I was good friends with Tom. He was amazing on Joe as you said! Kwan (Chang) has some great Joe and Tom pages on his site.
I’m a huge Stephen Platt fan, I have a lot of his books. Check out the cover E.V.E ProtoMecha #2 and the back cover to ElephantMen #32 yes the back cover lol
@@RedCapMan I think part of that though is his inks on himself were very cool. So it kind of set the mood for his art...when he's not inking himself it can vary. (still great drawings I just mean the inking style can vary)
The crowdfunding that was supposed to fund the game and also the comic, the comic never happened and last news was years ago and it was being drawn by another artist instead of Madureira like it was said. He also took ages to give the fans the sketches that people paid for them years ago after the crowdfunding for the BC game ended. Needless to say the comic fans are beyond annoyed with Mad.
Yeah I was never able to cop a lot BC individual issues because of Mad's inability to hit deadlines. Lmao. I remember buying (and losing) a hardcopy of trade years ago in college not even realizing the original series had that many issues.
Hey Richard! Joe has been a major influence on my artwork since I was in my teens. My goal for this year is to try and reach out to him at airship for a type of mentorship as I continue my pursuit into mastery of drawing. Since you know him a little, do you think he would be open to sharing his techniques on how he goes about his art style, drawing hands, the faces, silhouettes and so on? I know he must be a very busy guy, but in terms of at least getting a response with some guidance would be awesome.
sure I can understand that. My tastes change a lot over time too...I think overall their best work for sure looks awesome (to my eyes) and occasionally it's too much for me!
Im really liking your videos alot of inspiring work! I recent discovered this french belgium artist olivier ledroit. Please check him out his done alot of european comics and is awe inspiring. I suggest check out his work with pat mills (judge dread, and slaine) on requiem vampire knight.
He's been suggested a few times in the last few days. I will for sure try and hunt down a few of his books. (Ledroit) and I might have some Pat Mills art here already. I will for sure look. thanks you!
I like to listen and watch, but I don’t commute by train anymore and don’t have time to sit for long periods to watch videos. So I find that I like 10-15 min videos. I may be in the minority though.
Joe mad and Stephen platt are like my favorite comic artists
Platts one of my favorites & Richard your work is 🤌 amazing stuff man
Liquid coloring the x-men book in the mid-to-late 90’s was great
I am not sure I saw those. do you know around which issues they were or what pencilers they were over? let me know!
Richard Friend i think they started with x-men #62 for carlos pacheco then they did some uncanny, I think. Surely they did the hunt for xavier storyline
Really appreciate all the videos you've been pumping out, Rich. Thanks.
no problem. thank you for being here.
Dude, Soul Saga is honestly unbelievable! It might be the most beautiful comics I've ever seen!!
Christian Lichtner apparently moved on to video games as well, Diablo 3, Darksiders... He is active on Instagram, "liquidology".
thank you Markus. I will look him up. He's amazing!
Amazing art
definitely! thanks Mike!

34:08 To me it looks like the weirdest thing in that drawing is how short his legs are.
yeah that could be. I might have been too focused on the arms! hahaha Thanks!
Chris has gone on to video games. Most notably, he was the Art Director on Diablo 3. Not sure what Aron had been up to.
oh nice. thanks for the info Nathan~!

I will look those up. I feel like I saw the Eve cover. Not the Elephantmen one though! Thanks
Richard Friend There’s a lot of books that Stephen Platt has done, people look at his Moon Knight and Prophet stuff but he has so much more
@@RedCapMan I think part of that though is his inks on himself were very cool. So it kind of set the mood for his art...when he's not inking himself it can vary. (still great drawings I just mean the inking style can vary)
Richard Friend that’s very tru
Richard Friend Have you seen his work for Awesome Comics Judgement Day books? Bram the Berserk? Some cool stuff

hey rich. when you resume non blaster kid vids. can we get one on just splatt
I used to like this kind of color when this style was still flashy and new, but its too ''loud'' for me now.
sure I can understand that. My tastes change a lot over time too...I think overall their best work for sure looks awesome (to my eyes) and occasionally it's too much for me!

I prefer shorter videos. :)
what length? I think why (some) people like the longer videos is they draw to them...but that's one part of the subs. so let me know! thank you.
