I bought Butterfly for a tall 4 year old for frequent trips to Disney. At the end of a long 10 or 12 hour day I got frustrated trying to hold a sleepy toddler, gather our belongings and fold a stroller just to board a tram to the parking structure. I can’t believe I waited so long. Love this stroller and doesn’t take up as much space my old stroller did. Smooth ride and steering. Love all the room beneath for jackets and blankets, etc-I don’t have to rent locker anymore.
After watching your review I went to the local baby shop in Australia with my 3.5 year old. She is very tall and 16kg. She sat in the yo-yo, butterfly and baby jogger. We ended up with the butterfly. This provided her with the most room in the chair and height so she didn’t bump her head. The yo-yo was to small for her. Only down fall- doesn’t recline flat or come with a cover for airlines. We used it on our recent holiday and are very happy with it overall 😊
I finally settled with the butterfly. It was such a tough choice but I went with the one with the biggest basket and Bugaboo had a 100 day trial plus extended 4 year warranty at the moment which I just couldn’t resist!
We’ve been using the trvl for 1.5 years with our second. We live in a city and it is our daily stroller. We like how it handles, and can even manage curbs and stoop stairs pretty well considering the smaller wheels (smaller than larger, standard strollers), but it cannot manage cobblestones. The small footprint is perfect for our small building elevator. The one handed closure is great, although becomes almost unusable during the winter months when we add the muff. I can feel that it’s wearing down, too. We also do end up tying a swaddle when the LO naps (or when we want him to), because the canopy doesn’t give enough cover for that. The biggest shocker was when the brake paddle broke and flew off the stroller during normal use a week ago. Apparently this is something that happens to many trvls. Nuna will replace the entire stroller, which is great, but they require that we mail back the broken one first, which will leave us in a lurch between mailing it back and getting the new one. Not cool. Given that, I’m considering whether we should replace the trvl with one of the other two strollers. How do the other two compare on rough terrain? On curbs? Stoop steps? When needing to get into subway stations or onto buses? Would it make more sense at this point to go for a simpler umbrella stroller? I was hoping the trvl would be the only one we’d need this time around, but doesn’t seem like it.
That is so sad to hear about what happened with your TRVL. I am glad to hear Nuna is replacing it. The Butterfly is more "sturdy" over the TRVL, but is not much better on cobblestone. I sadly feel like no travel stroller does awesome on it. YoYo is the TRVL stroller in places like Paris and London, but it has a lot of downsides. The TRVL does have a slightly better push because of its larger wheels, but the Butterfly has a better basket, canopy, footrest, etc.
@@thestrollermom thanks. It’s always a compromise… I’m almost looking forward to the scooter stage, when I’m frantically chasing him down the street and yelling “stop!” lol.
Choices were bugaboo butterfly, joolz aer + and my junior pico2. Ended up with the butterfly. We gonna use it as an everyday buggy. Lightweight, airplane luggage measurements, one hand fold & long seat were my requirements. Our old stroller was stolen so this was supposed the last one for our toddler
I love the TRVL for my daughter who lives in New York (think walk-ups and subway stairs)! She has a 6 month old and a 3 year old who still needs a stroller seat or a universal ride on board to attach to the stroller. Do you have any recommendations for being out with a baby and toddler?
Snacks! Snacks! and giving your toddler a job like holding onto a stroller strap or bringing a baby to take care of. I am glad to hear she loves the TRVL!
Thanks so much for a comprehensive comparison of these strollers! I think you would really benefit from getting a better quality mic. When the volume of your voice goes up, there is significant distortion, e.g. 13:15. I think the quality and value of your channel is already really good and you'd really benefit from better sound quality for your viewers.
This is the first video of yours I've seen but by far the best comparison video. I will definitely watch more of your videos. I think based off of your review, I'm leaning towards the Butterfly
@thestrollermom I watched all of your videos on compact strollers and I was really between the Butterfly and the Joolz Aer. Ultimately, I went with the Butterfly, just ordered it yesterday. Thank you for your videos, I really love them! Now I have to start looking for car seats as my son is growing out of the infant seat.
@@kat0ray You should look at this one: amzn.to/44JMYNf I was super impressed and love that it has no chemical flame retardants like Nuna car seats. Nuna is great just pricy (here is one for $100 off): rstyle.me/+jfKq2Wlb1jMzksymKid6aA
I was about to buy Nuna Trvl but then bought Butterfly. What points I didnt like about butterfly are: i) Difficult to steer, it does not stay in one lane. Ii) the recline is not sufficiently deep/flat and it is also not upright enough in the most upright position. If I buy Trvl, will these points addressed?
Nuna TRVL is very easy to steer. I have been able to pull it really tight to get a pretty good upright seat and the bumper bar helps. In regards to the recline...the seat back is short and has a mesh panel that makes it not great for naps on the go, esp. for older kids. :(
In my country the price of yoyo2 is 10-11 (complete w/o bassinet) while butterfly is 8 and trvl is 4-5. In that pricing sense would your review/recommendation change significantly?
Probably not, out of all the travel strollers I have reviewed the current version of the YoYo is my least favorite. A better compact bassinet option is the Joolz Aer +!
Hi @strollermom please please help. We need a travel stroller but want one that lays flat for naps, we do have the opportunity to buy in Germany (I’m in the U.S.). It’s for older toddlers so would like at least 50 lb max. Would like it to fit in most overhead bins and be lightweight. Does this exist?? On another note have you used the MiaMily carryon?
I would say the Bugaboo Butterfly has a small edge up (esp. for a 12 month old) and I think you will like that it has a taller seat back as he gets older.
Would you say the butterfly could be used as an everyday stroller? I am comparing this and the Cruz V2 for everyday, either one with a car seat for the first months. I live in a non-walkable city - we get around in the car basically everywhere we go, but live in a city so don’t have a ton of space in general (in parking lots, etc). Thanks!
It could if you are in a sidewalk city! The Cruz V2 will be better for varied terrains, where as I think you will like the Butterfly more the older your child gets. This is because it’s lightweight, doesn’t take up a lot of space, and is overall very convenient!
@@thestrollermom thanks! We are still looking into both. I also really like the bassinet add-on for the first months for the Cruz (which the Butterfly doesn’t have), but the super light weight and compactness is definitely a big plus for the Butterfly for just everyday convenience even after the first year. It’s a hard decision!
@@AAandPE it is and I love the bassinet for the first 4 months! But it’s really only 4 months maybe 6 max… it’s so hard. 🤪 you could get the Cruz and sell it and get the Butterfly when your baby is one. They definitely hold their value! I also like that the Cruz V2 allows you to face your baby towards you. Just something to consider. 😀
Have you considered the uppsbaby minu v2? It can use the bassinet like the Cruz v2 and car seat. I love my Cruz 2, but now looking for a more travel friendly size for my toddler.
Best for city life? Bumpy sidewalks and getting in an out of ubers and subways? Also, why does everyone care so much about overhead bin storage when you can just gatecheck and get it back when you get off?
Great question! You can get any of these or the Joolz Aer+ for city life. On the gate check comment, I think it is a preference thing. I have done both and prefer Gate Checking 9 times out 10. :)
In regard to gate checking, I’ve travelled with my stroller once (currently on a hunt for a travel stroller) and I had to wait for my gate checked stroller and I was the last to leave (it really took some time for some reason). I saw on another video that the whole overhead fit is more of a convenience thing, especially during layovers and whatnot, just so you have your stroller on you right away to use it.
@@Shawdiee yes!! It is true that it can be convenient to put it in the overhead bin. I think it’s especially more convenient if you’re traveling with someone to help you.
On paper none. ;) BUT some of the newer planes on airlines like American, have increased overhead bin space. If you take the bumper bar off you will be able to fit it on those planes only. I have always gate checked mine because it's easier for me and my family.
Do you think the Nuna trvl will fit in over head bin if you take off the wheels and the guard? Do you know any travel stroller that reclines almost flat?
I think it would still be a stretch, but maybe. Probably on the bigger airplanes. Check out my video on the Ergo Metro+ Deluxe. That one fits in most overhead bins and has a full flat recline!
It's crazy how reviewers don't comment on seat surface dimension. From the video it looks like the Yoyo seat is smaller (at least narrower). Is that not important? Does it matter? Only saw comments about back height , or how upright. But not how wide or deep the seats are. 😢
I only call it out when it’s worth noting! There are a few other TH-camrs who specialize in covering the technical features of strollers. Thanks for your feedback!
@@LawNerd007 without knowing the age off your kid(s). I would probably recommend the butterfly! It comes with a rain cover which is great for London, well made, good basket, fits in an overhead bin and has a tall Seatback. The yoyo is a classic but lacks some of the upgrades the butterfly has.
