It was over 20 years ago. There's a mod to make it more accurate now and it makes a lot more sense like Shadow saying "That was Chaos Control" after the Bio-Lizard warps to merge with the ARK where as the dub has him say "Is that what Chaos Control is" when he of all people should know what it is.
This isn’t even the only instance of a human consciousness being cloned to another thing. SCP-1192 “Timmy” is a Cockatoo with the consciousness of a still-living 8 year old.
Use the Claw SCP to put that guy's soul into a robotic/human body. The issue stands in the identity story that shows how things were made by the group that experimented with imprinted memories on an AI or/and even human(even both then they switched lives) that they thrown away strangely due to being concerned about the experiment's results.
Now this is something I didn't expect would have a sentient mind. Then again anything can possibly be anomalous. The origin of it kinda reminds me of SCP-1192 Timmy. Where it's mind and personality have the same possible imprint as the same person its based on. Fascinating SCP here. Keep up the great work on covering SCPs. Weather we heard of them or heard not much about.
I'd like to see a scenario where the foundation finds more anomalies like SCP-1192 and SCP-1966 and finds the root cause, maybe an idea signature-swapping noospheric entity, or a society of body snatchers who live in the Alps. If I remember correctly, at the end of SCP-1192 there was a detail that Timmy (As a parrot) said that the thing inside his original body "wasn't him", implying something took it from him, so, in theory, this could make sense.
This one really brings back the elements of “dr Bob” being a researcher and I love it! Feels like it’s been a while since dr Bob has talked about his own experiences researching a subject
God airports are the worst. The crazy long and unnecessary lines, the violation of personal space. Sentient machines bugging you through security check. What at annoying way to travel.
It isn’t as terrible as it used to be. Obviously it’s not the same for everyone. But it largely depends on if there is any reason for you to be stopped and checked (like the man with the insulin pump. Which btw I’m really sorry to hear about that. That would suck). I’ve had to fly a lot lately and it’s not nearly as bad as it used to be. Though during tests I’ve heard the TSA failed the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of ever catching any of the actual dangerous substances. BUT HEAVEN FORBID YOU WANT TO CARRY ANYMORE THAN 3.4 OZ of a liquid! OR A FULL THING OF TOOTHPASTE! TBH thats the only things that ever really bother me. But having to check your luggage with all that isn’t the end of the world.
She's probably thinking how great this story is and how her article she's writing would help her career. Sometimes we get caught up over the novel or unusual circumstances and we forget that there are people attached to those stories. It can often be seen with med students seeing a rare and impressive tumor
I have a list of SCP’S Dr Bob that he needs to talk about Scp-743- A Chocolate Fountain Scp-1499- The Gas Mask Scp-323- Wendigo Skull Scp-3199- Humans, Refuted Scp-4000- Taboo Scp-457- Burning Man Scp-4608- Appleseed Scp-4173- The House On Hadley Hill Scp-701- The Hanged King’s Tragedy Scp-239- The Witch Child
This SCP is why most of the early SCP's are the best. No long winded, overly drawn out gigantic blocks of text. Not a reality destroying god being or some outlandish end of the world scenario. No sense of 'I wrote this to be totally more scary and overpowered' than the other guy's keter level universe ending threat. Just an oddity. A tragic oddity at that. Something to sit and ponder and think about. Something to try and figure out what it is and how it came to be.
I think the possibility for that machine to have a similar Consciousness to Mr J. In the story of course, would be that there is a similarity in the circuitry or the neural network. Cuz there is actually a theory about how Consciousness occurs in the human brain. Depending on the structure of the microtubules of the brain, it essentially can absorb a consciousness existing within the theoretical Quantum field. Which means that each individual brain fingerprint is literally a access code to one's own soul.
I remember the first time I said “No!” too a boss. It helped matters a great deal that he was asking for something literally impossible. He wanted to see if I would work an hour early and since I’m an hourly worker overtime isn’t something I often complain about, but he’s “offering” me this an hour and 24 minutes before my shift is supposed to start. Also it’s a 38 minute drive to work not accounting for red lights and traffic, and I mentioned it was over a half hour drive from work to there to that very same boss the previous night. Now he might’ve just forgotten and the timing could be a coincidence but I wouldn’t put it by this guy to do that just to mess with me. But as much as I hate him he did help me start building a spine. He was the first boss to whom I used the phrase, “Oh fire me!” with whenever I was done listening to crap and didn’t care if he wanted to fire me or not. I wasn’t bluffing about not caring if he fired me much of the time but he really wouldn’t dare. I was by far their best employee and they were understaffed so firing me would really have been shooting themselves in the foot! I would’ve had to do something completely crazy to get fired from that job!
Is it not possible that the Mr. J in the machine was ripped away from a parallel universe, his own history being identical up to the point where he loses consciousness and gets trapped in the machine.
SCP-1966 thinks it's a regular human, and it knows that it's not defenseless, so what does it think is happening when it attacks someone? I bet Mr. J's daughter's birthday wish was "I wish daddy was a wobot and he can see thwoo things!"
0:05 Oh that is still the case, just not for us peasants. About 5 years ago, a rich friend invited me on vacation with him, and we flew first class... its a whole different experience from "lesser people" fyling...
There seems to be a plot hole as to how this particular scanner machine was ordered, where it was delivered from, and who manufactured it and where, and under what circumstances. An investigation into its orgins like this would be interesting to hear about
The most unrealistic part of this is a company promoting from within, especially doubling an employee's salary, and certainly never promoting a people pleaser willing to take on the workload of multiple people.
It makes no sense that the Scanner thinks he is human but also threatens that something bad will happen if one continues upseting him. If he knows abuot the Radiation weapon, he actualy knows of his true form, is only an actor of Mr.J. and wants to make others suffer. Neutralize him, there is no need of 1966 to survive as the real Mr.J. is still alive.
A sentient scanner. Looks cool. But what does it scan that's so anomalous. Anyway the SCP community is the best. I saw a car yesterday that had SCP foundation on it it was blue and white lettering. It was so cool. Anyway thanks again Dr Bob for ur awesome content. U never disappoint
My theory would be that it’s a Mr. J from an alternate earth where he somehow got caught up in an anomalous incident that transported his consciousness, collateral damage so to speak
reminds me of that jerma clip where he pretends to be a sentient bus who doesnt know how he got there and why he is a bus just screaming confused and in pain while causing havoc in traffic
15:58 Why the hell did the foundation not look into the day scp 1966 claims it blacked out? You could literally interview everyone that was there right now but nope.
Here’s my issue with this SCP. If it can feel pain, can it also not feel that its body isn’t human shaped? Or does it just have no awareness of its own body?
To quote a certain cartoon hedgehog. "Even if my memories aren't real, they're all I have.".
"Even if my memories are not real, they're still me" is the quote iirc. Slightly different wording but a vastly different meaning
@cwcpants140 That's the English version, Sonic Adventure 2 doesn't have the best localization so the scripts make more sense in Japanese.
