    Great, gritty sounds. Realistic leslie with nice seperation

    That sounds fantastic! I remember about 8 years ago, I got a chance to visit a store here in Houston that sells Hammond organs. They happen to have a new b3 MK2, so I sat down and tried it out. Comparing it to the vintage organ that I had just played, I noticed that the keyboards we're very springy, but I don't consider that a complaint as I'm sure that is what the original organs felt like when they were brand new. And, it was missing that old antique Hammond smell, something I am very keen to since I can't see. That Leslie simulation sounded amazing especially at the end of your demonstration.

      thanks for your comment!
      yes, keys are the same of Hammond SKX, definitely different from my 1964 C3...
      but, maybe for the "magic" of real 9 analog contacts, the feeling is unbelievable, considering it's a digital clone!
      PS: I'm uploading new videos soon, using real leslie or other digital simulations...

    What is the maintenance on these digital organ? I understand they can't be repaired after 6 or 7 yrs. Or it's very costly.

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ciao!
      No particular maintenance for all digital clonewheels (I still have and use a 12 years old hamichord - and many live gigs over the years -, never needed maintenance).
      This NewB3 is a hybrid clonewheel, with full mechanical and analog parts. It just requires the busbars cleaning, but just if needed, and it's a really user friendly procedure (see the manual): no need to open the whole organ/keybed as on my vintage C3 👍

    • @michaeldavis2021

      @@marcoballa I didn't think so. Why would they charge that much if it didn't have a long life? Thank you.

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaeldavis2021 who told it does not have a long life? 😁
      Having full mechanical and analog parts, it should need (or not, depending on "heavy use", dust, etc.) some maintenance, no more nor less than my 1964 C3 (long life 😁, just a complete "checkup" every 10 years, if needed...).
      The high price is due to all that complex internal hybrid digital/analog circuit (the real analog contacts under each key need something really different from all other clonewheels, for example not only a single stereo digital/analog converter, but more than 40 of them, etc.)

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ciao!
      come da titolo, questa è una delle simulazioni leslie interne (solo su MK2).
      nella playlist complessiva (link qui sopra nelle info) lo senti col Leslie 3300W, o col Tornado, o col Burn, o con altre simulazioni leslie. ogni volta il sound è sostanzialmente differente.
      inoltre sul MK2 c'è la sezione preamp audio out totalmente valvolare e volendo, già da lì, lavorando sulla regolazione del bias delle due valvole si può schiarire o scurire tutto a piacimento.

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      inoltre sul MK2 si possono scegliere generatori differenti, può darsi che quello usato qui abbia un sound di partenza diverso (ma poi si possono regolare tutte le ruote foniche virtuali a piacimento)

    • @marcoballa

      ciao, it has a proprietary dedicated connector for the original hammond bass pedaboard.
      also, there is a standard midi out for other midi pedalboards

    Hey there. Is this more like the XK5 in a B3 case?

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ciao!
      This is totally different 😁.
      It's the New B3 mk2 (but, despite its name, it's not new 🤣😁 - it's a almost 15 years old project - ).
      Sound generation is mostly based on samples (Vase III), apparently the same of XK3, SK2, SKX, but the final overall result is really different.
      It has the real vintage 9 analog contacts system under each key (so the keyclick is real, 100% analog). It means that there is not the "symple" stereo DSP processor/converter (as the other clonewheels), but every single contact, under each key, triggers a "single" digital-to-analog audio path, ending in a tube analog preamp.
      It has a REAL vintage-style hammond cabinet (this is the "portable" version, 65 kg weight, but there are the B3 and C3 "complete" version, 90/100 kg).
      Feel free to see other videos with real leslie and other external rotary simulation:

    What is the point of buying this? It costs $27,000, weights 300 pounds and yet is digital. Why not just get a vintage B3 to get the classic sound. Or the XK- 5 which is much cheaper and lighter if you want digital.

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for comment! 👍
      I own a vintage C3 (feel free to see my other videos).
      I tested ALL existing digital clonewheels (including the XK5 with the "fake" analog contacts - nothing comparable to the real mechanical contacts -).
      It's hard to consider this New B3 strictly as a "clone".
      Yes, it has samples. But with the real mechanical contacts and tube preamp the keyclick is REAL and the phisycal feeling is something definitely different from all other clonewheels.
      Don't know about price in USA. In Europe it costs about 1/3 of what you indicate (maybe you refer to the B3 version - not B3-P - including bench, full pedalboard and leslie?). Yes, it's still an important money amount... 😁

    • @brianellis5164
      @brianellis5164 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcoballa Yea, if you have a C3 why do you need this? Prices must be different in Europe. A vintage B3 and Leslie costs 1/3 of this one in the US.

      I checked the specs...
      $27.000 and 290 pounds are for the New B3 (digital) with vintage cabinet, bench and pedalboard (weight includes bench and pedalboard).
      The portable version, without pedalboard and bench, costs about 1/3 and weight about 120 pounds.
      (My original vintage C3 is about 350 pounds - just organ -)
