Yup, metal has helped me get through the most difficult times of my life. I think I speak for many in our community. What a beautiful community it is too.
Honestly the best times to listen to them is when your showering, going to work in the morning, picking up the kids, grocery shopping, trying to sleep, the gym, before church, and when your relaxing👌🏼👌🏼
While ago i walked 16 Km and i listened two entire albums from Bullet for my Valentine "Poison" and "Scream Aim Fire" and after the walk my mind and my brain was clear from the bullshit and i was more focused
Slipknot is an American heavy metal band from Des Moines, Iowa formed in 1995. The band consists of 9 members, with each member having their own unique mask and number. The masks and numbers symbolize unity and togetherness while performing as musicians. Also, thank you for the Slipknot reaction and you’re very beautiful by the way.
Duality, Vermillion, and Snuff are great songs to get into them. They’re a bit more laid back in screaming but you can hear the range the lead singer has.
Oh yeah, that is so true Because other people who are obviously ignorant and have no idea what they’re talking about and very judgmental think that heavy metal fans are always so angry and so full of hate. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Metal fans are actually the most happiest and most chill people in the world because they release all of their aggression and all and all bottled up emotions through the music. And not only that, but the music has also helped them through a lot of dark times in their life. And I myself can relate to that. The music had also helped a lot of people who struggled with mental health and depression. All and all heavy metal is all about release, freedom, community, rebellion, and fun.
It is impressive !! Lead singer is Corey Taylor. And he is not ONLY the lead singer of slipknot, he is also the singer (during the same time) for a band called "stone sour". And his range is so GREAT. And as a recommendation, stone sour - "through glass" talking about the vanity of the entertainment industry, specifically music industry and it's overall "fakeness" To answer your question. It ranges from anger, sadness, being betrayed, cheated on. But some people listen to it even when happy.
A lot of people use metal for workout music since it's very uptempo and intense, which can help you push yourself harder. Once you listen to this kinda music and even heavier stuff long enough, you can become desensitized to it and it then becomes just as easily listenable as country, pop, jazz, rap etc. It's all about mindset and personal comfort with the soundscape that is metal. There's a TON of sub-genres and each one can sound very different compared to the rest. I applaud anyone willing to at least give this genre a chance even if you don't end up loving it, but from my experience both personally and watching youtube reactions, a lot of people are amazed by how much they love metal once they find the sub-genre that speaks to them the most. Many of us metalheads have our preferred genres but we often listen to many other music genres outside of metal aswell for different reasons. Recently I've been listening to a Russian Indie rock band called Biting Elbows. I also listen to some Russian Deathcore metal like Slaughter to Prevail which is super heavy and also heavily inspired by this band Slipknot. The metal scene is international and a very fun time once you find your niche. Edit: It may also help to read the lyrics after you listen to the song to get the true meaning, a lot of metal can have very deep or philosofical meaning, some of it can be based on drama like getting your heart broken or losing someone you loved. Some of it can be angry "let's fight" music, and everything inbetween. Some metal is even comedic like the German metal band WBTBWB (We Butter The Bread With Butter) that made a song about his scooter and how fast and cool it is, that song is called "20 km/h". If you want some cool introductory bands to try out I suggest "twelve Foot Ninja", "Jinjer" and "I Prevail", they are solid bands with some cool songs to try out.
all the time, listening to Slipknot makes me happy; when im laying in bed, chilling with friends, cooking dinner, driving. it actually relaxes me and makes me feel kinda at peace.
Corey Taylor joined slipknot at the age of 19. He created the band Stone Sour to be able to showcase his singing voice. He has managed to be successful with both bands as well as a solo career.
When I’m on my way to work and the coffee isn’t kicking in yet and I want to be awake and ready for the day. That’s my favorite time to listen to music like this.
She asks what kind of mood do we have to be in to listen to this music. It’s not a mood. It’s a love for the speed and aggressiveness of the music plus how deep the meaning of the lyrics are.
The ones who are singing Psychosocial in the background are Paul Gray (Bass) (RIP) Chris Fehn (Pinocchio) and Shawn Crahan (The one you saw during the drum breakdown

This is one of my favorite Slipknot songs and I can listen to it in almost any scenario. Whether I'm driving, working out, in the shower or just hanging around, it's time for Slipknot. I just don't have it or other heavy music playing when I'm taking a nap, where I have a softer music playlist. And yes, the same singer does the shouting and softer singing, Corey Taylor, who has a great range.
Everyone has a different tolerance to metal, usually based on how long you've listened to it. Like for you, this is probably crazy heavy. After listening to a lot of stuff for like 15 years, this is almost too light for me anymore. 😂 All is to say, people that are into metal can listen to it 24/7 since we've adapted to it plenty. Their song "Before I Forget" is a bit easier as a first.
Absolutely love your content first off! I always love seeing someone step outside their comfort zone to listen to other genres a chance. Life long metal head who grew up with a very musically diverse family learning to love everything from the hardest of metal, to stuff lile Michael Jackson, Prince, NWA, Gorillaz, Sade, etc.... Slipknot can definitely be a little heavy as an early band to get into. A couple suggestions of a few songs to check out that might help ease you in a little are Sevendusts "Denial", Deftones "Change (In The House of Flies), which i think would probably be the most accessible and easy to get into, and Taproot "Poem". I'm pretty sure you'd really love 2 at the very least of those, if not all 3. Keep up the amazing work and open mind. I'm a fan. Sorry for the long comment, btw.
@MiaintheMoment No problem. The Deftones track I think will be a real winner for you musically. It's got this groovy bass line that really sets the tone, with some almost eerie sounds in the background, and Chino their singer has such a unique voice. The lyrics sometimes are a bit dark, but they got good somgs to warm people up to the metal genre. Thanks for the reply. Always love YT who really engage with their fanbase. Hope you're having a great evening, and look forward to more content!
Seeing you react Slipknot got me into nostalgia xD... nowadays I imigrated to a ton of different metal genres and Slipknot was a perfect starting to metal for me. Metallica is a crazy start to metal too! Great video!
I'll listen to Slipknot anytime of the day at any mood, but my absolute favorite time to listen to them is when I'm walking my dog late at night, the streets are empty and it's just me and my music in my head. It's absolute bliss
4:42 always I’ve been listening to them since I was 13-14 y/o and I’m now 36. It’s fuel for my mindset and to push forward in whatever task you have for that day
Just found you and am going back to watch these... I listen to this and others like it while driving by myself. And while running. Great Running music because it keeps a high tempo.
@@MiaintheMoment For you I think a better introduction to Slipknot would be the songs, "Snuff" and "Duality". Psychosocial is usually harder for non-metal fans to get into. It tends to turn them off from listening to more because it's shocking to their senses
As far as what mood you have to be in to enjoy this, I think it's different for everyone. I personally just enjoy it almost any time but it hits different if you're in a foul mood and just wanna blow off steam. I also love listening to metal when I'm working out or just working in general.
I listen at all times, anytime. When I am getting ready in the morning, when I am cruising around with my Grandkids, when I am sad and when I am happy. Whenever the moods hits. Like others have said do Snuff to see another side of this iconic band.
Most reactors do this song but in my opinion i would start from their self titled album with the song “wait and bleed” or in the Iowa album “disasterpiece” -album version
Sometimes listen to try to wake up and get psyched up before work, fuel for when I’m working out, a release from the day on the drive home from work and a soothing melody to fall asleep to. That’s when it’s best to listen.
I appreciate you being open minded. Slipknot was the first heavy metal band I liked. I'm a huge metal head now. When I 1st started listening to Slipknot I liked them but wasn't as into them as I am now several years later. For me as a woman getting into metal was a slow process. Maybe you will get like I am now as a metal head. Slipknot is now one of my absolute favorite bands ever. But it took time for me. My favorite part is the same as yours in this song. I guess I really love breakdowns in metal. I probably also love metal because of some deep rooted anger I have inside from my childhood. But I swear it just sounds better to me now.
i listen to slipknot day and night! they're rly good to start your morning with if u need to feel energised :) but i also listen to them to bed bc i find their music soothing haha
Love how you started to get the hang of it around min 6:11, even hesitated a bit to pause in 6:27 You can appreciate Corey Taylor's voice better with a Stone Sour song, try "Through Glass" and compare the vocal interpretation to this one
Honestly, if you're a fan of the genre like myself, you can listen to this really at anytime. I've had on hard rock and metal while doing the dishes, assembling something my wife bought at IKEA, or even in the ear buds while I'm at work. 😉
Hey, Mia! First time channel viewer and wanted to give a thoughtful answer to a really good question many people ask the first time they hear Slipknot "What makes you want to listen to this music?" There's 3 main times Slipknot is perfect for I'll touch on briefly: Working out - If you want to feel like you can run through a wall, listen to 3 or 4 songs from the Iowa album in a row. Drawing lines in the sand - sometimes life puts us in a position where it's us vs. them. Jobs, relationships, etc. put us in a position where we have to look within ourselves and ask where we're going to draw the line and push back. Many of Slipknots lyrics are centered around a relentless pursuit of truth and fighting for it. Last, when life puts you in a blender and you have no idea how to feel. As you heard in Psychosocial, Slipknot is extremely dynamic. Harsh vocals mixed with beautiful melodies, tempo & time signature shifts, and their overall musicianship really capture the feeling of that every day struggle back and forth between the choices we face. Listening to someone who is also seeking truth among the chaos is comforting because you don't feel like the only person fighting that fight. I hope that helps see it from the viewpoint of someone this music has made a positive impact on. I hope you check out more of their songs and look forward to hanging out on the journey!
@@MiaintheMoment You're very welcome! As far as a road map for people new to Slipknot, I would say that Duality, Before I Forget, & Wait & Bleed are songs that form a bridge between sounds people are more familiar with, & where Slipknot takes their music. I would say songs like Eyeless, Disasterpiece, and Purity are essentials after you've got your feet wet. But are so heavy they can turn people off that might not be adjusted to the overall picture yet. I hope that is helpful and wish you well on your journey into metal!
i think it can be any mood as long as you have this following thought: "slipknot? yeah that sounds fucking good right about now". slipknot is my #1 favorite band, one of the few on my mount rushmore of bands.
Haha appropriate times to listen to this. Lets see driving, working out, doing chores, gardening, cooking, between the sheets, walking, breathing, at any time. Music is playing in my head at all times of the day. Keeps me focused.
why do i listen to this? do you not feel the energy radiating from this song??? Metal music is a wonderful tool to have when you need to get shit done. to me, this is just as good as a cup of coffee.
Somebody said one time that their mind / thoughts are very chaotic and disorganized.. Listening to this puts order to that chaos. Metal music may be seen as brutal or violent but it is surprisingly very disciplined, methodical, and planned. The anticipation of every notes that plays right on time, forces the mind to focus on that and other details, calming it. It definitely calms me down too but i would have never thought to describe it like that, and i believe its real. Now obviously it could apply to any music, but metal is generally more rich in composition and has higher tempos, meaning more stuff to attune our chaotic minds to.
What kind of mood do I need to be in to want to listen to this? Waking up in the morning, making lunch, driving down the road, getting ready for bed. There is not mood. It is in my blood. Being a drummer myself, give me a heavy guitar and rockin beat and I am a happy guy. 😀
Ya know since system of a down and Slipknot were my gateway to metal years ago, i think youd be surprised that this is the more on the "accessible" metal at the time. Also I listen to this on my commute to work, before bed, etc. The aggression is cathartic these days. Also if you havent already you should check out stone sour
Reaction is everything I hoped it would be. I see why this has a ton of views. The wtf face 😆 As a Hip Hop and Metal fan, the mood is the same. It's whenever you need the hype or want to take the frustration out. This over energy drinks and preworkout in the gym for me. Lol
When you are angry. When you need to clean aggressively. lol gym? Tons of reasons. But I like your openness and honestness towards it. Need more people like You in this world.
Folding laundry, driving, vacuuming, shopping in the local supermarket, sewing, down the gym* etc Probably not for sexy times unless your partner is into it and it sorta breaks the vibe during yoga. *Ha like I ever go to the gym
As a horror fan you should listen to some Rob Zombie, I recommend Dragula. Other good choices for horror fans are Misfits "Scream" and "Helena", and Danzig "Mother". Very horror movie inspired.
Hey Mia ! I'm a Slipknot fan (altough not my favorite metal band). I listen to their style of music mostly while TRAINING in the GYM 👌💥. P.S. ->> Tu eres MUY BONITA 😇...

I listen to Slipknot anytime mostly when I clean, exercise, or I'm having a bad day.
Just found you and am going back to watch these... I listen to this and others like it while driving by myself. And while running. Great Running music because it keeps a high tempo.
The appropriate time and mood to listen to music is anytime and in any mood. 🤘
metal can help calm down some of us. everyone thinks metal is all angry music when thats not true at all. great video
I don't need to be in any specific mood.
I like listening to them any time, Metal and Grindcore are calming for me.
thanks for the input, i will at least be putting this song in my workout list
@@MiaintheMoment For you I think a better introduction to Slipknot would be the songs, "Snuff" and "Duality".
Psychosocial is usually harder for non-metal fans to get into.
It tends to turn them off from listening to more because it's shocking to their senses
Pull some lyric page and you can know he is saying
such a good idea, for sure will do lyric versions next time
'
As a metalhead i would recommend from slipknot "before i forget" that seems to be that one slipknot song that everyone likes lol
doing that!
As far as what mood you have to be in to enjoy this, I think it's different for everyone. I personally just enjoy it almost any time but it hits different if you're in a foul mood and just wanna blow off steam. I also love listening to metal when I'm working out or just working in general.
so ture!
I listen to these in the gym as my workouts get more and more intense
omg yes i bet
For Metalhead's we jam our music 24-7 ! Wait till you hear even more heavy bands!!! 🤘🏼
I listen at all times, anytime. When I am getting ready in the morning, when I am cruising around with my Grandkids, when I am sad and when I am happy. Whenever the moods hits. Like others have said do Snuff to see another side of this iconic band.
thanks for the comment! 💜
@@MiaintheMoment Thanks for the reaction.
That’s when it’s best to listen.
makes a lot of sense
People that listen to this type of music are the smartest people you'll ever meet.
But I swear it just sounds better to me now.
thanks so much for this comment
the song was so gOod . but the thing so look gorgeous to me is yOu . From Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭
awww you are sweet thanks babe
@@MiaintheMoment thank yOu babe 😘♥️
Slipknot has always been my go to workout music or just walking about outside. 😮
i listen to slipknot day and night! they're rly good to start your morning with if u need to feel energised :) but i also listen to them to bed bc i find their music soothing haha
that makes sense i will be for sure adding them to my workout playlist
Love how you started to get the hang of it around min 6:11, even hesitated a bit to pause in 6:27
You can appreciate Corey Taylor's voice better with a Stone Sour song, try "Through Glass" and compare the vocal interpretation to this one
omg yes i think i will become a fan. for sure doing more
Some people love to listen to this to while working or before to get them hyped up and ready
totally understandable makes sense
Honestly, if you're a fan of the genre like myself, you can listen to this really at anytime. I've had on hard rock and metal while doing the dishes, assembling something my wife bought at IKEA, or even in the ear buds while I'm at work.
😉
This is just regular everyday any time of the day music for many of us old metal heads. 52 and still pumping it out daily.🤟🏼
Hey, Mia! First time channel viewer and wanted to give a thoughtful answer to a really good question many people ask the first time they hear Slipknot "What makes you want to listen to this music?"
There's 3 main times Slipknot is perfect for I'll touch on briefly:
Working out - If you want to feel like you can run through a wall, listen to 3 or 4 songs from the Iowa album in a row.
I hope you check out more of their songs and look forward to hanging out on the journey!
such a great analysis of thinking. you really exceeded my expectations on what a good comment is. thanks for all that
@@MiaintheMoment You're very welcome!
I think even you would be able to see the beauty in the Vermilion trilogy = slipknot
i think it can be any mood as long as you have this following thought: "slipknot? yeah that sounds fucking good right about now". slipknot is my #1 favorite band, one of the few on my mount rushmore of bands.
Haha appropriate times to listen to this. Lets see driving, working out, doing chores, gardening, cooking, between the sheets, walking, breathing, at any time. Music is playing in my head at all times of the day. Keeps me focused.
lol so anytime love it!!!
Im not a metal fan and the band bangs!! And gym sessions is when you'll listen. The energy is fire!
why do i listen to this? do you not feel the energy radiating from this song??? Metal music is a wonderful tool to have when you need to get shit done. to me, this is just as good as a cup of coffee.
that makes so much sense
It takes years of practice for metal vocalists to scream correctly without damaging their throats
wow i didnt think of that makes total sense
I definitely recommend watching slipknot in hot ones video
This music is my therapy. Fell asleep to this and old hard rock in Afghanistan to drown out the bullshit. Now it's just calming..
wow so glad if gave you some therapy when you were in bad moments
You should definitely check out Vermillion pt 2 if you'd be interested in their softer music.
Part 1 is heavy-ish and part 2 is soft
ok will put this on my list to react too
When im at the lowest of lows during my teenage years, i listen to their songs especially "skin ticket".it somehow calms me down
wow so glad you had an escape for moments you were feeling low!!!
@@MiaintheMoment give them chance, maybe try to listen to their tamer songs like Vermilion, before I forget, killpop, snuff and yen
Now obviously it could apply to any music, but metal is generally more rich in composition and has higher tempos, meaning more stuff to attune our chaotic minds to.
very good analysis that makes a lot of sense, thanks
What kind of mood do I need to be in to want to listen to this? Waking up in the morning, making lunch, driving down the road, getting ready for bed. There is not mood. It is in my blood. Being a drummer myself, give me a heavy guitar and rockin beat and I am a happy guy. 😀
so ANY situation, love it
The lead singer is Corey Taylor, he is really talented and can sing like this live even at his 50s.
i agree amazing voice
Depression.
Anxiety.
Existential crisis.
That's when you listen.
ok that makes a lot of sense
Ya know since system of a down and Slipknot were my gateway to metal years ago, i think youd be surprised that this is the more on the "accessible" metal at the time. Also I listen to this on my commute to work, before bed, etc. The aggression is cathartic these days. Also if you havent already you should check out stone sour
Reaction is everything I hoped it would be. I see why this has a ton of views. The wtf face 😆 As a Hip Hop and Metal fan, the mood is the same. It's whenever you need the hype or want to take the frustration out. This over energy drinks and preworkout in the gym for me. Lol
Slipknot and many other bands in this genre are great to calm down, like driving on the Autobahn for example
makes sense
When you are angry. When you need to clean aggressively. lol gym? Tons of reasons. But I like your openness and honestness towards it. Need more people like
You in this world.
Folding laundry, driving, vacuuming, shopping in the local supermarket, sewing, down the gym* etc
Probably not for sexy times unless your partner is into it and it sorta breaks the vibe during yoga.
*Ha like I ever go to the gym
any mood really. i listen to it while driving at work mostly, but again anytime is a good time!
thanks for the comment!
I listen to this when I’m folding my laundry 😭😭
As a horror fan you should listen to some Rob Zombie, I recommend Dragula. Other good choices for horror fans are Misfits "Scream" and "Helena", and Danzig "Mother". Very horror movie inspired.
Hey Mia ! I'm a Slipknot fan (altough not my favorite metal band). I listen to their style of music mostly while TRAINING in the GYM 👌💥.
P.S. ->> Tu eres MUY BONITA 😇...
