I love love love this song. A nice surprise today! Everything about it-the guitars, the bass line, the harmonies…and they’re old men here. It’s just a bit slower than the studio version, which I recommend. You’ll feel AMAZING afterwards.
The Eagles were, and still are, one of the best bands out there. There music not only transcended genres ( Some of their songs charted on the country list) but generations. All of them can sing and play their instruments. AND we can thank Linda Ronstadt for getting them together!!!
This live version sounded fantastic! I've notice several of the Eagles concert performances that were filmed sound better than the records. That's not always the case with some artists and bands. But then again these guys are so fun to watch, both in the early days and later! Glenn sounded as good singing this here as he did when he was young.
The Eagles … Iconic Band. One of my All Time favorites. Saw them 3 times in the 70’ in my 20’s and never stoped enjoying the Band This live performance was planned and rehearsed ( including at the Rod Laver Center ) in advance of the concert. It featured many other Top Notch musicians on percussion, keyboards, violin, guitar, trumpet, saxophone…you get the idea…it was EPIC. IMO the Best technically executed live recording I have seen. I’ve seen many …I’m 74. What a Band and what a Joy-to watch these guys bring it live at the highest levels of musical genius. A true masterpiece. RIP Glenn Frey you were the bands front man and I miss you.
The other musicians with them on stage are their session musicians. When they perform live they tend to have more than just the four of them so they don't sound too thin. The extra guitarist on stage is Steuart Smith, who joined the band to replace Don Felder, who was fired (a very controversial move), but their session percussionist Scott Crago has been with them for ages. They've had horn sections and string sections because some of their songs (like Desperado, Wasted Time, etc) had session orchestras when they were recorded and they need to have strings live.
This was the called the 1St Farwell Tour. Live recorded in Sydney this was engineered and reheatshed to perfection. I have the Blu Ray and you can hear and see what a concert can be. Love this Band and this song.
The guy with the red guitar is none other than Joe Walsh ( Funk #49, Life's Been Good, Rocky Mountain Way, etc. ) and bassist is Timothy B. Schmidt, who used to be with Poco ( they have some good songs too, but I think he had already moved on to the Eagles by then), and the other guitarist I can't remember his name, but he's been with them a long time and they still haven't made him an "official "Eagle. He's a damn good guitarist.
You're right there are two additions to the group at this time, the bass player, and the guitar player in the dark jacket he took the place of Don Felder, great song great band best rock group ever!!!
Fist-face Suzie? Scuza? Travis can say the most outrageous sheet, and Suzie, well, you make me laugh so hard, my stomach is sore the next day! Love you two, keep it up!
Good that you younger folks are checking out some of the best rock music of the '70s! The Eagles were very popular back then when I was a teenager. Other songs of theirs you need to check out: Hotel California -- their signature song; Lying' Eyes; Life in the Fast Lane; Witchy Woman; and Take it to the Limit. All classics! Rest in peace, Glenn Frey, he was one of the founders of this awesome group.
that was in 2002, in their farewell one tour- they had a full brass section plus orchestra. i saw this concert in greensboro- it last three hours with 28 songs plus three encores- there is a double dvd of this show!
This is from their Live In Melbourne 2005 concert. 12 musicians on stage, an extra percussionist, 2 keyboard players, and a 4 man horn section. The concert is amazing. Sometimes you can find the entire concert on TH-cam.
this video is from their farewell one tour in the early 2000s. they had a full orchestra backup on this tour. i got to see it live- three hours, with one luittle intermission, played 28 songs a 4 encores. best show ver
the original bass player Randy Miesner replaced by Timothy B Smith and Don Felder was fired from the band, here are all the backup players on that tour in 2005 Steuart Smith: guitars, backing vocals (primarily replaces Don Felder who was fired from the Eagles in 2001)Michael Thompson: Keyboards, accordion, backing vocalsWill Hollis: Keyboards, backing vocalsScott Crago: Drums, percussion, backing vocals, sound effects (e.g. car horns and brakes on "Life's Been Good", and clapping sounds in "Heartache Tonight")Bill Armstrong: TrumpetAl Garth: Saxophone, violin and percussionChris Mostert: Tenor and alto saxophoneGreg Smith: Baritone saxophone
Your mom and I would have gotten along just fine! Even though I mainly listened to hard rock/heavy metal....everyone that I knew loved "The Eagles!" I had Hotel California and their Greatest Hits on cassette to listen to them in my truck! My little sister....who was born in 1970....used to sit on my lap and sing along with The Eagles, Elton John, or whatever album I was listening to, while I was doing my homework when I was in High School! She still sings a lot..mainly now in her church where she is the lead vocalist in the church choir! She has an amazing voice, and she has told me many times that her love for music started when she was very young, sitting on my lap, listening & singing along with the LP's!
I think was on the "Hell freezes over" tour, years after the band broke up fans were asking when we could expect the band to reunite and do a show and Glenn Frey said "When hell freezes over" years later they did reunite and do a tour aptly named "Hell freezes over"...
No, not on the "Hell Freezes Over" tour. Don Felder was still with the band on that tour. In this video, the other guitarist (besides the legendary Joe Walsh) is Steuart Smith. This would have been after that. Not sure where the video is from. It might be the Melbourne "Farewell" tour.
All of the ones I saw on stage were The Eagles. After their initial fame I think they all went on to release their own successful solo albums. Some in the singular and several in the plural. They were a “Super group” in reverse, and came back together again.
Joe Walsh, the funky lead guitarist hails from Kent State back in the 70’s. His bands were regulars around NE Ohio, and he was a regular on the Drew Carey Show (Cleveland native)…
As I stated in other reactions, my friend and I were luckily enough to see Eagles in concert in Miami in 2002. Eagles played in Miami for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday). My friend and I see them on Saturday's show. They played over 3 hours that evening ending with an encore of Desperado.
Even though these guys are about 30 years older than when you saw them doing Hotel California, they sound every bit as good 😂. I love watching you guys. They switched out members over the years. Timothy B Schmidt (bass player) replaced Randy Meisner, Joe Walsh (guitar god) was a great addition. They morphed a few times and just got better🌺✌️
Joe Walsh sang a song called One Day at a time that he wrote about his issues with alcohol and also they did a version of hotel California which is very good at this same concert
Looks like this is from the When Hell Freezes Over tour. I saw them from the nosebleed section in Miami...but good weed made it very enjoyable! They're incredible live! How Walsh has an icon sound!
Not "Hell Freezes Over" tour. Don Felder was still with the band during that tour. In this video, the guitarists from left to right are Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Steuart Smith. Smith replaced Felder.
Spectacular dispettoso Sir Tra I have to say ! Thanks Man . Guys this are Legends of Blues-(Folk) Country Rock . Classic beasty guitar solo very old quality style
I have the Blu Ray disc of this Concert. The Eagles spent a week setting up to creat a magnificent audio visual recording. The fidelity and video editing was phenomenal.
What a group for all time. Saw them 3 times … always great. This live recording was a masterpiece because and the week long rehearsals and recording efforts. This is the best live concert recording I own. Already Gone was a highlight in the concert.
When my boyfriend broke up with me in high-school, I'd blast this song in my car! Always made me feel better! Kept the tears ar bay too! I had a cougar, it's in my profile pic!
Check them out live at the Capital Centre from 1977. You won't hear a tighter show from anyone. Vocals hat will twist your face inside out. Enjoy all!!
Maybe when you do overdubs in the studio, you need more players to make it sound right on stage? The studio version on the album also has a key change done so smoothly and that I would like to have seen done in this video.
it would take an hour to explain the history of this band....most bands like this will have six or seven members but take horn and strings and even a piano on tour...
Actually Don, Glenn, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner were the original members. Timothy B replaced Randy and Don Felder replaced Bernie… My favorite driving down the highway song along with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Call Me The Breeze
I was living with the hottest girl ever.she used to get hired to impersonate Marilyn Monroe ..But a girl like that desires attention all day long . One day the hurt overpowered the beauty and I left. As I was driving down the highway I turned on the radio and to my surprise this was playing. That was the only time I left a woman and was happy about it.
I love love love this song. A nice surprise today! Everything about it-the guitars, the bass line, the harmonies…and they’re old men here. It’s just a bit slower than the studio version, which I recommend. You’ll feel AMAZING afterwards.
The guitars in the studio version are magnificent.
The EAGLES...In my opinion they are up there with the icons like Zeppelin, the Beatles, etc. 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍
Me, too... always were going back to early 70s...Desperado, Peaceful Easy Feeling....so many great songs.
Imo the eagles are better than both of those bands
Lynyrd Skynyrd and the eagles... Two best American bands, of at least that era.
100% agree with you.@@DirtRoad83
I grew up as a teenager in the 70's and loved the eagles and loved this song!!
This is a great Eagles tune that often gets overlooked. Thanks for this!!
The Eagles were, and still are, one of the best bands out there. There music not only transcended genres ( Some of their songs charted on the country list) but generations. All of them can sing and play their instruments. AND we can thank Linda Ronstadt for getting them together!!!

One of my favorite Eagles songs of all time. Haven't heard a good live version until this one.. Thank you!

Best line in this song Then you will have to eat your lunch all by yourself. Love the Eagles...best highway driving music ever.
Thats it!!!

Happiest break up song ever… gotta love the eagles.
Don Henley, Glenn Frye, Linda Rondstat and Jackson Brown lived in the same apartment in LA

That Timothy B. Schmidt on bass. He was an amazing replacement when the great Randy Meisner left the band

And I might add all members had amazing solo careers
Saw the Eagles in 1978 in Boulder, CO and it was fantastic 😍 It was their Till hell freezes over tour.
the original bass player Randy Miesner replaced by Timothy B Smith and Don Felder was fired from the band, here are all the backup players on that tour in 2005 Steuart Smith: guitars, backing vocals (primarily replaces Don Felder who was fired from the Eagles in 2001)Michael Thompson: Keyboards, accordion, backing vocalsWill Hollis: Keyboards, backing vocalsScott Crago: Drums, percussion, backing vocals, sound effects (e.g. car horns and brakes on "Life's Been Good", and clapping sounds in "Heartache Tonight")Bill Armstrong: TrumpetAl Garth: Saxophone, violin and percussionChris Mostert: Tenor and alto saxophoneGreg Smith: Baritone saxophone
And yes, there the greatest American rock band. No one else is close.

this was the Eagles first radio play ever.....early 70's.....before that, they'd been Linda Ronstadt's backup band
I saw them back in 98. Great concert
Looks like this is from the When Hell Freezes Over tour. I saw them from the nosebleed section in Miami...but good weed made it very enjoyable! They're incredible live!

One thing about the Eagles was that they were one of the few bands that was just as good live as they were in the studio.
Rock In Peace Glen..
Love the way you stop it start it stop it start it ..............
This is a good one its cool and laid back vibs you 2 rock
You missed Don Felder, who brought this tune to life with his outstanding lead play.
LOL extra members, there the band. Too funny there always there.
Eagles farewell live from Melbourne Australia. Axstv shows the concert
My wife went to this show but I didn't - I had to work, so her bestie used my ticket - you win some, you lose some.
Opening song they played at Ozark Music Festival in Sedalia, Mo , in summer of 74..
My all-time favorite road trip song. This makes me want to kiss all the toxic people back hone sayonara, and just head to a fun place.
I am glad you guys reacting to one my favorites Fam. . Great reaction🤘🏿
When my boyfriend broke up with me in high-school, I'd blast this song in my car! Always made me feel better! Kept the tears ar bay too! I had a cougar, it's in my profile pic!
I really like this song..good job guys
Try "7 ridges road", what was a pre concert vocal harmony exercise, became an epic song.
I think this was preformed not too long before Glen Frey (lead singer) got sick and died. What a loss.
NO THATS THE WHOLE EAGLES BAND INCLUDING GLEN FREY BEFORE HE PASSED R. I. P.
They are replacements...two guys left. This is a reunion tour!
check out the video of this concert- a double dvd - eagles farewell one tour from melborne-
Perfect break-up song.
My favourite is the capital center performance of new kid in town.
Joe starred in the legendary James Gang, then had solo success, then joined these guys.
Check them out live at the Capital Centre from 1977. You won't hear a tighter show from anyone. Vocals hat will twist your face inside out. Enjoy all!!
Hotel California live!!...
Great job reacting to this!!!
My favorite song...With ❤From Ukraine
RIP Glenn
Maybe when you do overdubs in the studio, you need more players to make it sound right on stage? The studio version on the album also has a key change done so smoothly and that I would like to have seen done in this video.
they still performing in 2023

Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Glen Fry.... how can you go wrong?!
it would take an hour to explain the history of this band....most bands like this will have six or seven members but take horn and strings and even a piano on tour...
Kent, Ohio's Joe Walsh mugs ingratiatingly. I don't think he had yet joined the band when the studio version was recorded.
The Four Horse Men - Rocking is ma Business
Don, Glen, Joe and Timothy B are the original members.
Actually Don, Glenn, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner were the original members.
Timothy B replaced Randy and Don Felder replaced Bernie…
My favorite driving down the highway song along with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Call Me The Breeze
If you haven't reacted to it, seven bridges road, is another great song by them.
And....the Eagles wrote their wedding song!
(Lol’ing forever at Susie Q) 👰🏻 🤵♂️
I saw them 3 times
Great song.
Has listening to these old songs affected your own songwriting?
You need to check out The Eagles DIRTY LAUNDRY on TH-cam, you would love it!
This is the sort of video that makes me consider dropping $200 to sit near the roof at a live show...
Glenn has a very southern accent for a boy from Detroit. Must be South Detroit
RIP Glenn Frey..
F A B U L O U S !!!!!!!!!
Should have done the studio version
Where can I find this video?
There huge on the radio its a break from all the metal need that some time need to do BOB SEGER NIGHT MOVES song Laid back too
a great band made even better with joe walsh!
The man to Joe Walsh's left playing lead use to be Don Felder's spot, but Don is no longer with them due to conceptual differences.
Extra musicians? They fired Don Felder, and that man is not easily replaced.
Legs Diamond - Woman
Joe Walsh is badass
They pretty good huh
Glen Frey was the best!
You guys should listen to some of his solo stuff!
How does someone get a reaction and how long does it take to see it?
It depends on when you took the pill and if your pants are down.

Steuart Smith. He swaps lead guitar duties with Joe Walsh.
