I just finished studying my professor's lecture about PAD and PVD. My professor didn't really explain what the difference was between the Jobst compression stockings and the Ted hose. Thank you so much for explaining the difference clearly.

Hi Sarah! I was trying to find the video where I had commented letting you know that i was going to school for Medical Assisting and that your videos helped me a lot. I took my certification this past Saturday and I started work on Monday morning. I got hired where I did my internship. (Cancer center infusion) I remember how you wished me well and I just wanted to tell you that you are awesome! Keep up the great work!! I can’t believe I’m finally a Medical Assistant!!!! With an associate degree! Hope you have an amazing year!!!!

As a CNA and a nursing student and I had been wondering about this... I may actually invest in some because I have some spider veins as well. My legs hurt after a shift, and kill after a double! It definitely makes it hard to sleep that night (or that morning depending on when my shift ends!). Thank you for this informative video.

I use to have the same exact problems, but when I started wearing stockings....it quit and the spider veins didn't get worst. Those 12 hours shifts are brutal on your legs. Thank you for watching the video and for taking the time to leave a comment :)

Thank you Sarah! I have been working as a CNA for over 2 year and I noticed my ankles and knees on my legs would hurt when my shift ended. I also noticed I had blue veins showing from behind my right knee and above the back of my right knee (not varicose vein bad, but they would be noticeable if I extended my leg) I bought a pair of Betsy Johnson brand 8-15 mmHg compression socks. Are those recommended for my legs? I guess they would fit under your 15-20 range (light). Please let me know. Thank you. My dad had varicose veins and its common in his family. My blue veins behind my knee are considered in the early phase as to what my doctor stated. Thank you.

So I developed a varcos vein. From what I know the compression sock will help prevent more but what can I do to try to repair the tissue damage from the swollen vein? I'm a broke college student so I can't afford surgery but who you know of anything else that would help?

TED hose are virtually useless, as they are made of long stretch elastic. Ankle pumping or SCD's are MUCH more effective at DVT prophylaxis for immobilized individuals. Long stretch elastic is NOT considered appropriate for true compression stockings. Unfortunately TED hose are referred to as compression stockings, and that is misleading to patients. They think that they can use TED hose for chronic venous insufficiency/edema management, and that is wrong. CVI/Varicose veins/lymphedema must be managed with short stretch elastic, whether that is in the form of compression stockings, or other devices, such as Circaids. I instruct nursing, physical therapist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, and MD/DO students in their clinical rotations. Unfortunately none of their didactic programs include this type of information. My channel also has videos that address compression management skills and products. Thank you for your channel, as it is spreading the word on appropriate indications for compression stockings.
