    What's up guys!
    It's been snowing a lot in the U.K. and I decided to make a coat for myself.
    To start off the coat making process, I show how to make the main front panel, the collar & the lapel.
    I also plan to line this coat, so I will be making lining patterns as well.
    I hope this video is useful to someone.
    Enjoy ^.^

    omg this just saved my life lol I made a coat 2 years ago with my grandfather (because he's better at sewing than me so he helped me) and we followed a pattern I bought. The collar off the pattern is really oversize and round and I don't like it but it was the only pattern I found so we used this one. I wanted to change this part of the pattern and make one for this type of collar but had no idea how so we followed the real pattern to the end. The coat is nice but I don't wear it a lot because I don't like how the collar looks. Fortunately I have a lot of fabric left so I think I am going to follow this tutorial and finally have the perfect coat!!!

    Love it , been sewing sence 11 years old, Worked in Fashion Inductory more then 40 years.. But love to see others do things there way because you can allways learn something another way.. your explanations are really great I did not learn to make patterns professionally. But I had no choice in to teach myself. And it's funny cuz I worked off some of the biggest designers in New York all over 7th Avenue Couture sportswear activewear and everything in between. But there were very few black people involved. Every time I went to work somewhere I was the only black person in the room. I'm glad to have found you my sister

    1. Can I pick my dart if I want mine fitted (if yes, should I use side dart or bust point dart) or Lapel jacket usually don’t have dart?
    2. How many inch depth to use for the back if I’m drafting my collar same way.

    Hi Kim, could you please help me. I'm making a coat with the shawl collar but it does not have a breaking point it should be folded flat all the way to the bottom, so does that mean I should connect the bottom of the coat straight to the shoulder and just do the curve on the outside? (because then there will be no breaking point to connect the shoulder to) please get back to me
    thanks xx

    • @KimDave
      @KimDave  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's how shawl collar works. It is one piece that you stitch around the neckline & centre fronts, from left side around back neck to right side. Let me know how it goes and if this works.
