It still was praised for its use of practical effects in all the parts where worse movies of the past would have gone the cheap way with bad computer animated shit. The hobbit is widely disregarded because of that fact and fails in comparison to the previous lotr trilogy. Another example is mad max which scores 97% on rotten tomatoes.
There is even a video going around with the star wars cast waving around air embarrassing themselves.

I am a writer who was ghostwriting articles for a long time. While I did not feel comfortable doing college papers for students, EVER, I was asked a few times. 8 out of 9 of them were studying to be doctors and I told them that I did not want to have a doctor who could not do his or her OWN homework. If they are too lazy to do it, they should not be a doctor. If they don't understand it, find a tutor. But there were so many people who would apply to those jobs on Odesk (UpWork, now) and the like. The other one was a business major. Another sad thing was that people in other countries were offering to do it for 1/10th penny per word. :(
