I'm glad she got housing, but most Section 8 waiting lists are closed now except for people with large families like hers. I'm a senior, and thankfully, my landlord has been kind about raising my rent. They tried to jack it up once, but last year, they only raised it $10. I'm not sure what I'm going to do if they try to jack it up again this year, because I have nowhere to go. I'm presently trying to sell most of what I own just in case I have to go rent a room somewhere. Any time we get a raise in SS, they try to take it away from us, which is just one more hand in the pot. I had $23 in food stamps taken away because of the $76 raise in SS, and also, I can now earn less than before, or I'll lose my medicaid. I have sons who are able to help me, but that may not last forever, because one of my sons is a contract worker in tech, and they're laying people off all the time. These people on Boca Raton anger me a little, because they had money when they moved there. That's always been an expensive place to live. Now they're whining? There are a lot of cheaper places to live in FL besides Boca Raton. They need to sell some of their assets and move. Rich people whining does not sit well with those of us trying to scrape by on SS and food stamps.

I used to work for the Broward County Housing Dept., and so I can ask why 1) the fed. gov. doesn't enforce immigration law? and 2) why not make it legal to build tiny-house developments, where individuals at least are off the streets, have an address, and have a place to call their own? They can be safe and pleasant without having to be so elaborate (excessive codes permits). I saw where one city made several hundred of these individual tiny-houses, and some agency came along had them all destroyed.

Because Lobbyist throw a fit when you start handing out large fines to companies that hire illegals (that and we don't want the oranges to die on the tree). As for housing, it is always the existing residents that have a fit when you do things like tiny houses or build up more apartments. NIMBYism is the only thing Republicans and Democrats both support.

@ Luis that’s actually false . Because if that’s the case California and Los Angeles specifically are the most expensive place to live in the USA , like there is a statistic for these things where they tell u cost of living . And Cali and LA specifically has the most expensive food, gas, homes in the USA look at the stats we passed sfc . The salaries don’t balance out they have not fixed this problem u must be talking about minimum wage yeah we are at 16/17$ minimum wage but the Average 1br apartment is 2000 a month not to mention gas at 6$ a gallon all pandemic. WHY YOU THINK WE HAVE THIS HOMLESS PROBLEM 80thousand homless in La alone . 😂 better calm all that competition down bro and enjoy the fact you have it easier . An example is the Average home is 800k but teachers make 70k or a cop makes 85k . So no Florida is not #2, 3 or 10 on the most expensive list brother on any list . So like I said only the real deal Holyfield can make it out here

I WOULD RATHER OPEN MY HOUSE AS A TRANSITIONAL HOME FOR THE LOW INCOME VETS AND SENIORS ON SSI OR SSDI OR PRIVATE PAY OR VIA AGENCY; I MAKE SURE I COLLECT IT DIRECTLY FROM THEIR BANK OR HOUSING COORDINATOR; I AM NOT WAITING AROUND FOR NOBODY TO PAY ME RENTS AND IN A TRANSITIONAL HOME, NO NEED FOR EVICTIONS!
