There's so much love and compassion given to the herd, from the doelings and bucklings to the does and the bucks. The amount of care, attention, and genuine affection you and your family have for them in my opinion is the heart of animal husbandry. Yes, they are making money (some) for you, but look at their lives! Free of care, of want, of predation, of vexation (except perhaps from one another) they are very, very blessed goats. I'm enjoying the videoes so much, thank you for making them.
I’m loving the added information we are getting on each goat. It’s really interesting to see the differences. Have you weighed the babies for each doe?
We try and put human feelings on animals, but goat feelings and human feelings are not equal. The biggest thing is to make sure both the moms and babies feel loved and are taken care of. And, this farm does both very very well.
Exactly! They do have feelings but they aren't necessarily the same as a human. Also pretty much most were bottle fed themselves. So they probably think that it's a perfectly normal thing to just give the babies over to the humans after a day.
I also love the bottle feedings watching all of them get bottle-fed. That is also fun to watch, love the bottle babies. Can't wait for more babies to be born. God bless yall.
Thank you for mentioning udder tension - this has freaked me out over the years as I wasn't sure if it was the beginning of mastitis. In all the time I've researched I've never heard mention of it!
Real for humans too but humans aren't told to massage it out and instead are, sadly, told to quit. While massage can be uncomfortable/painful, the success is worth it.
A very good explanation about the babies and why you do what you do, those who are angry need to know that you love your goats and they are not abused nor neglected and it is your livelihood I think you are all amazing
Hi Crystal , I also raise a small registered herd of ND in northern il. We have the same feeling about the benefits of bottle raising goats. Its alot of extra time but we like providing friendly and easy to handle goats. Thanks again for your videos.
When you massaged that udder, I had physical flashbacks to that feeling of my milk letting down. Happy memories. I loved being a nursing mom. My babies were SO FAT! They definitely preferred my right side, and my left was so much smaller. I had to pad my left bra cup to look like a balanced person. I used to call it "Lonely Lefty."
I just love how you address the peeps who get upset over things that they don't quite understand... "Their momma's aren't crying for them" 😅 My only experience with goats is petting them or throwing some veggies over the fence to them so I'll always defer to your expertise rather than telling you how you need to do things. Y'all are doing a great job and I'm loving learning about goats! Thank you!
@Paula Hobbs I was thinking the same when Crystal was explaining why she separates, etc. Like, wow, random people are on the internet getting mad/bothered by what's best for HER goats 🐐. She has many years of experience, and people still feel the need to say something. I have looked up to Crystal for the many, many years since I've been watching! Those goats are her family! She lovesss them. Why would she ever do anything that would hurt them! You are AMAZING Crystal! Thank you for the many many year's of experience and knowledge that you have shared with us... I hope I can learn even more for many more years! 🙏
I appreciate how you take time to explain what you're doing, how you're doing it, and why. I'm sure it's valuable information for those just starting out. Me....I'm here for the baby goats!!! Lol!
Hey I just wanted to tell you that I think everything you do is wonderful and you have a lot of energy and courage to do all that I know your family helps you it seems like they all want to help you with your dream and I love all your goats and babies they’re beautiful makes me want one but I older and I can’t have one where I live I’m real tempted but ,😊I’ll have to move and find me another place , but this time I’m older which is hard but they’re so cute Keep up the good work you’re my favorite TH-cam show❤
Our nigerian dwarf does just kidded. Two for the first time and one is a second freshener. None of their udders are anywhere near the size of the ones in this video. I hope they grow! Learning so much from you!
Usually you won't get this udder size to suddenly happen because it's all genetics. Crystal has some top of the line genetics which allows them to have massive udders like these. On the second round it can get a bit bigger, but that's usually the max size at that point. So if you want larger udders you'd have to breed for it and purchase good lines from people like her. They're expensive though, so don't feel like you suddenly have to go and get great lines. Good luck with your breeding!
Hello my Blue Cactus Dairy Goat Family. You are right the utters are very very important. Plus if the eat only on one side the tit gets so engorged that it actually hurts the mom. I think you Gus do the correct thing. I have said they are your family members you have much time energy care compassion sometime tension and heartache depending on what goes on. It is easy to bottle feed the younger they are and it does hurt them but like you said it makes them more comfortable with being held, being around humans and you make sure they get their colostrum right away. I just love how you care for them yes they make you money but they are family and your baby fur kids in the first place. They will eventually take the bottle if not right away. As always BCDG be safe, enjoy and live your best life and God Bless. Can’t wait for the next kids to be born. I just love those little babies that sre so adorable and many are really gorgeous.
Thank you for the education in the methods of how you raise these beautiful babies. It's clear instruction with compassion and care as well as comforting in instructing on what we may experience in struggles and what to look for/be concerned about. I love that you encourage and embrace others in their success too! Much Love!
Big greetings from Bosnia to the Valuable family 🧡 I am delighted with your clips and every time I can't wait for a new one. I've been following you since the beginning. Your loyal support Ilijas Veletovac
You all do an awesome job. It really translates through the screen the relationship you have with each mamma and every baby ❤. I hope Danelle will take a Lucky Buck and that you keep one.
I have learned so much from you ,I am a first time goat and now babies owner, I remember on one of your videos a baby was just crying and crying and you massaged the baby belly until it pooped and pooped I had the same thing happen last week to one of my babies and remember your video and the same thing happened my little girl pooped for ever ,Thanks for so much information, love your videos ❤️
That was very interesting 😊 I don't show my goats but I am still considering pulling kids next time and either bottle raising them or selling them off. My doe's udder is all scarred up because her kids bit her pretty bad. They made bloody sores all over her teats and udder that are finally healing.
Crystal’s low-key passive aggressiveness as she lectures her ways of doing things with her goats 😂 Girl, you’re awesome!! You’re doing everything so well, we have a lot to learn from goat breeders like you, anyone who wants to challenge you and your way of doing things is missing out on an opportunity to glean wisdom from you! I’m keeping note of all the good advice and methods you use for sure, I want to raise my herd like yours someday! (Don’t have one, just learning a lot right now.)
I'm overloaded on baby cuteness and its only just started! I have a question? When you weight and measure them when they go into labor do you think that the slight weight loss has to do with udders producing more milk?
Thanks so much for explaining all that about the udders! I still don’t know that I’m ready to pull the kids and bottlefeed everybody, lol. But if I do, what kind of nipples were you using? Could you possibly post a link?
I understand separating the babies early for show goats, I don't usually separate mine except at night after 2 weeks old. But this year one of mine (a sannan/nubian cross) had triplets and they started to really tear up her udder. In just a few days after starting the separating at night they made a few open wounds on her udder. I had to pull all three off of her and bottle feed them.
Are goats alot like sheep, where they can have stillborns? I watch sheepishly me and Miss Sandi has had alot of trouble this season. Beautiful goats and I am hooked on the one brown baby doeling
majority of stillborns in sheep and goats are caused by bacterial and other infections making mothers and babies weak and ill. Blue Cactus goats are fee of any infections and thus don't have stillborn
I watch Sheepishly Me too... I've noticed Sheep are very different, but Sandi doesn't buy Show Sheep... she definitely doesn't have time for that... so there could be some quality differences that we don't know about too
They are so precious. So what do you do with the ones you dont keep? At what age do you sell them? We raised pygmies yrs ago when we lived in Nevada. I had one doe, one neutered boy. After I bred my doe, she had two babies, one doeling and one buckling. They were so much fun. They were both bottle babies. Bottle babies are the best. They get attached to you really quick. Cant wait to see the next ones up. 💜
Crystal the babies are doing great and strong!!!❤❤❤🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐 I can wait to find out the next who went in labor. Where is Derick I hear him but we haven't seen him for a while!!!
good morning, where did you find that pail for milking ? it looks wide and low LOL The size difference from before and after is amazing! ! I put my does on the stand twice a day and milk out the size they leave fuller.. still uneven bag but helps the momma some
Great video, Blue Cactus crew 👏 Hey Crystal, where did you find the nipples for your bottles. They look like they would feel more natural than the red ones I have. Thanks ✌️💚🦋
Once all the babies are born would you do a video on coat patterns? I think it would be interesting.
I second that, that would be great! ❤
I agree
Im all about it!
Me too
Great idea!! 👍🏻

🤗
Emily has blossomed into a beautiful young woman! She was always beautiful but matured. ❤
Those little babies are so sweet! Bottle feeding the babies would be my favorite farm chore! lol
Thank you Crystal and Emily. I never stop learning with your videos and hope I can translate the info should I have a herd.
Crystal I love listening to you, and I love watching y’all with the goat
Aaaawwww ... so so cute to see then drinking from the bottle❣
Have you ever used a "Nanny Machine" like what Sandi Brock uses for her bottle babies?
I am happy to see that the moms and their babies are doing well🥰 All kids are so magical and sweet as sugar. Thanks for the nice video Cristel❤
Thankyou very interesting video God bless love New Zealand
I’m loving the added information we are getting on each goat. It’s really interesting to see the differences. Have you weighed the babies for each doe?
We tried. It didn't work. We'll try again :)
Baby anything that runs soon after birth are hard to weigh! It's all "come 'ere! Yes. You. Hold still please!"
We try and put human feelings on animals, but goat feelings and human feelings are not equal. The biggest thing is to make sure both the moms and babies feel loved and are taken care of. And, this farm does both very very well.

We are just getting into goats. Your videos have been a big help. Thank you for making them.
The Mommas look so much more comfortable. Such cute babies!
This was a great video! Thanks for the “basics” info 😊
Thank you for mentioning udder tension - this has freaked me out over the years as I wasn't sure if it was the beginning of mastitis.
In all the time I've researched I've never heard mention of it!
It's a real thing! Some goats get it worse than others but just massage it out. Fill and drain, fill and drain. It will go away :)
Real for humans too but humans aren't told to massage it out and instead are, sadly, told to quit. While massage can be uncomfortable/painful, the success is worth it.

Thank you so much for explaining what you are doing and why so clearly! Love this channel and the goats and their babies❤❤

Man, I keep learning more and more from you guys!!! You sure have some beautiful baby goats!!!! 🤗♥️🙏🏼
You answered all my questions about mama’s & babies & separation & cooperation! Thank you 😊
Great job Derick, Crystal and Emily. Glad to see All the little Babies up and Active.
Happy to see all is going so well. So cute.
I appreciate how you take time to explain what you're doing, how you're doing it, and why. I'm sure it's valuable information for those just starting out. Me....I'm here for the baby goats!!! Lol!
Very good job girl that's why you're goats look great very informative
So cute when they are really young babies. Love seeing them at this stage and when you turn them all out in their own large playing pen!
Such beautiful babies! You give them the best care!

I hope your does get bigger udders as time passes 😊🙏
I feel the same way!!

❤🎉. I am in total agreement.
Love all the compassion and love shown. Thank you so very much 💖 🙏 💐 ✝️
We worked a dairy farm years ago. We always took babies at 24 hours also. I loved the bottle feeding time.

This was a fascinating video! Thanks for explaining the show process and about the bebes.
Precious!
I love it 😂 babies 🐐. Good luck Crystal I hope everything goes well this year.
I love how you explain things. We trust you!
Where to find a scale like you are using to weigh the goats? Thank you
Oh they are so gorgeous
Busy exciting times for y’all! 🥰
Thanks for the great video

Is there a way to get onto a waiting list for the new kids?
Wow, goat babies are a lot of work! 3x day bottles, on top of all the milking and other work you have to do! They sure are cute, though.
I would love to see a livestream of the baby goat pen. I think it would be really cute
My Goodness! They are all so sweet, but Cami's doe!!! 😍😍😍
Love that you do this. It makes them so much more friendly!❤❤❤
Because of the wind i was thinking you bottlefeed those kids on train😂
Just love those babies❤
Great info!! Do what you want with your goats 😊
OMG!!!!!! I'm sooooo in love with the babies 😻
I'm overloaded on baby cuteness and its only just started! I have a question? When you weight and measure them when they go into labor do you think that the slight weight loss has to do with udders producing more milk?
Thank you for answering that question 😁
This was hugely helpful! Thank you!
Great video!
And so it goes another exciting kidding season!❤
How do you know how much to give them? To avoid floppy kid .
Are the babies already sold?
I love you! I'm watching on my TV now.
Thanks so much for explaining all that about the udders! I still don’t know that I’m ready to pull the kids and bottlefeed everybody, lol. But if I do, what kind of nipples were you using? Could you possibly post a link?
Utter tension! Yes! Now I get it. Thank you!
Udder
Lol yes! Bless your heart! It is udder! Lol thanks for correcting me!!
Will you retain a buck where you (sadly 😢) don’t have Luck buck anymore? Curious if you would do that or bring in a fresh bloodline!
How much milk will it be by one milking?
Love how much information you share
Can't wait for next upload 😘😘😘
How much milk does one goat give at each milking?

Great video guys
I love kidding season. Best wishes from 🇬🇧
New to goats. I'm having trouble getting all of the milk out. Any tips or old videos?
Very informative video! Looks like Lodi is next to kid 😁
What a fun video🥰👍 ❤️❤️ Babies are beautiful❤️❤️
How many Ozes do you give per feeding?
Are goats alot like sheep, where they can have stillborns? I watch sheepishly me and Miss Sandi has had alot of trouble this season. Beautiful goats and I am hooked on the one brown baby doeling

Do you keep the babies strictly on goats milk or at any time switch to milk replacer? When do you start using the milk for your own use?
The Babies Are So Cute!!
Great video, Blue Cactus crew 👏 Hey Crystal, where did you find the nipples for your bottles. They look like they would feel more natural than the red ones I have. Thanks ✌️💚🦋
