When you are looking for a feel good movie for the holidays this is one of the best ones I have seen yet!
I love this movie , I had this happen to me. My husband left me And our daughter for his younger Secretary. I was so broken hearted!! But in a few years after I healed . God brought a Wonderful man into my Life!! We were in the same church for a number of years and didn't know each other but One day .In God's Perfect timing , He Divinely Connected Us.we were married 2 years later!! Thank You God!!
I love this movie. I watch it every year. Sometimes more than once. I love to watch someone triumph over such great odds against them. I love the relationship with her and the store owner. Such a sweet friendship. 💗
This is the most wonderful story. My husband is having a relationship with his 'secretary' and treats me despicablly. This movie made me think of all that I need to sort out in case my husband files for divorce. So that my whole world doesn't fall apart completely. This movie should be shown to young girls at the start of high school so that they can work very hard to eventually get a college diploma /degree so that they can always be able to support themselves no matter what life throws at them. Give us Home by Christmas 2, 3, 4, 5. So we see what's happening further as they build their "home Sweet Home" Empire.

I agree with you. There is so much to build on. I can see Selma and Julie fixing up a house they find for other women who were in their predicament. Julie's wedding, etc. So many directions for a sequel.

Life after divorce: Despite its many challenges such as healthcare, financial, living in her car, she bounces back by remaining resilient, connecting to the right people that helped out, working towards a career as a real estate agent, and love came along. Good, realistic movie.

In this movie it’s twenty one years of kindness and good meals and happy holidays and it just wasn’t enough. Isn’t that sad. I’m very old but I think bad choices can affect so many for no reason. Walking away from your best friend that loves you for who you are…….bad choice. Spouses, families, loved ones are not disposable and if you’re lucky enough to have those special people in your life make sure you hug them and make them feel special.
SUCH a good movie!!! What a range of emotions I understand all too well, but love her tenacity and will to survive and thrive no matter what is thrown at her :) The rest of the cast were delightful as well- well worth the watch- Merry Christmas everyone

Home By Christmas is one of my favorite movies. Its part of my Christmas and one I thoroughly enjoy.
It is a rough movie. While they added drama to it, the issue I have with it, is that it is so real and it happens to so many people. I can honestly say that it is so painful when it happens close to home.
I agree with you homelessness isn't easily fixed by cleaver means it is dangerous and scary.
You make a good point-- it's a bit too romantic...In real life, she and her friend would be in danger of rape etc.
Betrayal Trauma is devastating and demoralizing ..unfortunately I have it and I am healing. Cannot watch because of how triggering…Never judge try to reach out if you know someone with Betrayal Trauma😢
So movies should never be realistic? It is rough bug wraps up nicely so you get reality and unrealistic Hollywood endings.

I remember this movie, will have to watch it later and thank you for sharing it! : ) I think Linda Hamilton is one of those actors that is able, willing to risk showing herself to be vulnerable enough to bring in a range of emotions, not just "smile and look pretty" kind of thing. That's what makes this such a good movie. We can relate to different sides of how the character is feeling.🎄🌟

The daughter stabbing her mother in favor of the cheating father and his mistress is what aggravates me the most.
it is heartless, but kids aren't coming into it from the all knowing perspective. Their world falls apart and they are just trying to get back to a place they know. They don't have the experience or know how to weather divorce. They have to pick a parent or try to navigate a new step parent, etc. They don't usually get counseling for dealing with the fallout. She chose the most comfortable arrangement for her. SHE didn't do it. Losing her support group, school, etc. wasn't the right choice. The dad was awful, but he was the stable one, as her mom left with nothing. She didn't DESERVE nothing, but neither did the daughter.
Children these days are raised to be entitled and self centred. This is what happens when parents aren’t available to discipline them. The modern home-work life balance doesn’t gel with the human psyche.

Watched this on another channel. I love the realism and the rollercoaster of emotions. Definitely way better in storyline than the fluffy and low budget Christmas romances out there.
More people then Not run into this situation. Gives hope to the down and out Losing your family and Pride. Having to pull up your boots and find your self. Wonder fully done story. It makes Life even Richer then the Richest man. Amen Merry Christmas Everyone who is blessed by this Movie!
Linda Hamilton was good in this movie but life after divorce and then after living in her car but she does bounce back on her feet, good for her

This movie is too realistic. Great script and performances. I actually want to punch that idiot. Goodness, that ex husband is a real piece of work. Imagine she supported his studies and did all the heavy lifting. he is such a liar. I know a child should not be caught in between. She is old enough to see a cheating despicable father like that.God is so good to bring good people together.

9:23 They're talking with their daughter, and the mother is sitting next to HIM, I would be closer to my daughter. They both saying they decide to separate. What a coward the man, not telling her it's been him who decided it because he has a lover...As the mother, I would tell my daughter the truth, not with anger or talking terrible about him, but just calmly stating facts.

Linda Hamilton was lovely in this movie, but I think her bipolar and other medical problems were quite evident at this stage. I think it added to the realism of the movie though, I felt every emotion.
