You both progress on the green line shown at 0:33 and unlock the essences on that line at the same time no matter who does the tasks. The rewards you get when you use the essences to nurture will be different so you can get different rewards and deviations. Also the essences for individual tasks are not shared, just the essences that are rewarded on the green line.

Does the friend I invited gets the same progression I have even if they don't do the tasks? And will they receive the deviant as well?

From what I understand it currently unlocks in phase 4 on normal/hard mode servers.
Are the variations minimum L3 or have you gotten L2 and L1s or?
I have got L3 on all my variations, so seems like it is the level you get on them
