I used to play the original house of the dead at some arcade, and it was great. Somehow the voice acting was actually better than in the PC version, even though (I assume) the PC version came out later? Not by much, but it was serviceable. This game was also my introduction to really destructible enemies. I'd seen gorier deaths, but never real-time destruction until this. It even did it better than quake 2, a game with a similar, but simpler version of the system, over a year later. The sound for the machine ended up breaking, but I still remember it fondly.
Have loved the series since a kid! Had it on the windows 98, Me and my dad used to smash it out on wii had to play hotd 4 in arcades tho. Great series imo
I remember playing the original House of the Dead in an arcade with my cousin in Southend (England) back in the day. We beat it too thanks to us both having saved up a fair bit of change to keep pumping into the machine to continue lol. Great memories. I've played HotD4 & Overkill as well both on PS3 using the move controller and gun attachments. Still got them all actually so might have to set it up again soon and pay them a revisit.
haven't watched yet, but holy shit, I'm so glad I grew up with these games. Even though the voice acting was a joke, they were some of the best light gun games I ever played. I really wish the Resident Evil rail shooters got an arcade port, as that would have been a blast as well. Maybe I could get the Sinden Lightguns to work with a Wii Emulator? I will say, House of the Dead 3 wasn't great, but it was fun. It kinda just went down hill from there though sadly.
Me and my dad played through the second game a plethora of times, good times! I remember hating the hydra boss and level specifically for some reason. Even played through it with an unlocked airsoft or paintball gun among other unlockables.
There’s a lot of problems with your video. First, I’m a bit confused how you’re unable to get House of the Dead 4 on PSN when the store is still up. It is more annoying to buy, because you have to adds funds through a PS4, PS5, or the web site, but it can still be done. The PS3 version is actually superior to the emulated version, because it not only comes with the base game, but it also came with House of the Dead 4 Special. House of the Dead 4 Special was basically a full on attraction that involved spinning seats and only one credit. Since that arcade game is so rare, the PS3 port is probably the only way most people will be able to play the special campaign. Second, the last two House of the Dead 4 levels are not reused/ripped straight from House of the Dead 2. There were remade entirely for the game. Third, how the heck did you not find a way to play Scarlet Dawn on an emulator. It’s so easy using Teknoparrot. It runs on Unreal Engine 4 and it boots up like any other game. Were you not looking at the right places.
I've always loved the games and been playing them since my childhood. It's fun to come back and boot up the old arcade emulator to play House of the Dead 1 as it should be played (at least on PC). The rest of the series is fun as well, too bad 4 never got a PC port but that's just a me problem. Really hopeful for upcoming news on porting the remakes of the first two games to other platforms such as playstation.
You lost me when you said you never got into RE series, you can't review this game without playing the RE series & also... arcade was ahead of your time? What are you man 14? Sorry, can't take you seriously...

The first ones I played were 2 and 3. I had the gun for it with the original Xbox. It was a good time. I remember the big giant security guy the most.
Wow, this brings me way back to playing these games at the arcade! Good times!
Good news! house of the dead scarlet dawn can be played on PC through emulation.

Where you’d find that sweet theme remix?

Damn, no love for house of the dead overkill.

You're probably over the series by now but House of the Dead Remake is on the Steam now
Sad you disrespected my favourite game, but I'm glad someone shows 3 the respect it deserves. I do not like 2.
