Try a small Sonic BaitFish (SBF) on that bottom bouncer, displayed in the video. I'd rather be casting the SBF rather than trolling it because of a better feel and more enjoyable experience. However, even though I fished Lake Erie walleyes for over 60 years, we only attached nightcrawler harnesses to bottom bouncers. Then we started casting metal jigs in the middle 1980s for walleyes and discovered how deadly they were for any fish that was in Lake Erie. Initially, we jigged Crippled Herrings with great success and now it's with the SBF. Several years ago, a bad wind came up on Lake Erie while I was cast-jigging a 1/4 oz glow chartreuse SBF...my #1 finish for walleyes on Lake Erie. Five foot waves and a fast-drifting boat made it impossible to fish a metal jig effectively. For the first time in my life, I tried attaching that same SBF to a 2 oz bottom bouncer for better control in 37 feet of water. I tipped the single tail hook on the SBF with a one inch piece of worm. I was shocked at the result at catching my limit of 6 walleyes within a twenty minute span. My technique was simply to lower the bottom bouncer until I felt bottom then lock down my reel and set the rod against the boat's gunnel...all simple, nothing technical. The SBF was attached to the bottom bouncer with a 2 1/2 foot 17 lb fluorocarbon leader and a connecting snap swivel to the SBF. When jigging, I only use the snap provided in the SBF package. But, when trolling or casting, use a swivel to minimize line twist with this lure's lively action.

I always love the detailed description of how the guys are catching fish, no matter what the species may be. The video and audio quality are always top notch. Thanks to Justin and the crew for the TH-cam channel. I like to watch the videos several times, especially if I'm planning a trip.

Are you trolling or casting in this video? Are you just trolling with the small motor on front?

Yes they are trolling and using a bow mount electric trolling motor. I would guess its the terrova i-pilot by Minnkota that they are using.
