I like both honestly. The Complete Saga’s interpretation is lore-accurate whereas the Skywalker Saga's is more comical, although it is slightly terrifying. I mean, having half of Darth Maul crawling at them and stabbing Qui-Gon is a little demented. Both do a good job of conveying the scene.
I think the new version might maybe be a reference to Monty Python

Original: more faithful to the movie, has Obi-wan learning about the highground for the first time, I always loved how fast Qui Gon died, it's like "train the boy! *dead*", the lack of dialogue always is funny because you can invent your own dialogue!
New one: extra fun added, the voice acting is good, high resolution, it's almost poking fun to how Maul just couldn't died until rebels because of over-exposure

In the original we get to witness the creation of Obi-wan “High Ground” Kenobi
@@Anxious_Raven mumble mode undermines the whole point of voice acting and all the work they put in it and it just doesn’t work the same because the complete saga used more visual story telling while skywalker saga doesn’t have to because of voice acting

The complete saga manages to be funny but not over the top childish which is perfect for all ages. I still love that game as much I did back then as a kid. I don’t dislike the newer look, it’s deffinedly pretty good, but lego’s new approach is kinda different and maybe not my cup of tea. Still will be playing the new game ofc.

Like if you show me cutscenes only, I wouldn't even think for a second that you could specifically shoot out a clone trooper's limbs. If you show me gameplay, I wouldn't think they'd be stingy with showing death in cutscenes. They literally CLASH in intent.

@@Gito975 true, I’m not looking for a “hardcore” experience so to say, but some scenes are just overkill parodies and I personally dislike it. I know the game mainly appeals to kids, but sometimes it feels off: Jango’s “death” is another example, he gets run over 3 times and survives it all basically. And it’s funny because deaths like Obi-Wan’s are actually fine and not a constant joke, leaving alone the fact that you can kill npcs in the open world unlike many other Lego games.
Edit: also with Dooku’s death, the thing is censored simply by the camera moving away, I actually prefer that

I very much appreciate that they made Skywalker saga different and able to surprise us, instead of just being a rehash of the old game with fancy graphics.
There's one level I was looking forward to seeing redone in TSS, and that's Battle Over Courascant. That was always my favorite level in TCS
Even though I like them both, I prefer the one from "The Complete Saga" than the one from "The Skywalker Saga".

As a kid I always loved Qui-Gon’s X-eyes when he died. I watching this clip almost 20 years later still makes me crack up. Wish they could’ve combined elements from both, like the lore-accurate death of Qui-Gon and the comical goofiness of the new scene. The basketball hoop at the end killed me when I first saw it!

I love how the older games treated things like death more seriously, it honestly makes the moments feel funnier as they’re being conveyed by Lego

The complete saga one is hilariously to me while still being gruesome. The comraderie displayed by the two dancing and high fiving. I lost it when Maul's bottom half started kicking Obi-Wan. Qui-Gon talking broke the immersion for me little bit, as everything was non-verbal up to that point. Kind of wish they stuck with the non-verbal straigth through the scene. The original I can appreciate for being more accurate to the movie, but having that lego humor twist on it is a breath of fresh air.
You can pretty much do 2 playthroughs of the game. First mumble and then with dialogue
As a long time fan I get people like the mumble sound from the old games but I think the voice acting is done perfectly, I feel like it's way funnier than the older games and the dialogue helps with that
@@JBzucc I agree. The Skywalker Saga is alot funnier with dialogue on since they are able to do more with it than the mumbling. Alot of the humor is kinda lost in the game with mumble mode on including some of the references like when Qui Gon says "I have a particular set of skills."
At the end of the day both of them are lego games and lego makes comedy. If you hate comedy then do not play lego games. Simple as that.
I love the early lego games for the silent dialogue. There’s always something so unique when telling a story, but the characters don’t speak in words.
Probably why I like the works of Genddy Tartakovsky.

Just because it's accurate to the movie doesn't mean IT HAS TO BE. There's a reason people didn't like the laracroft game story and that was because it was basically exactly the same as the movie from what i heard. It's like buying skyrim 3 times on the same system for yourself to just go on the same path. I liked the skywalker saga for that it was accurate to the original movies in terms of story but isn't ripped straight from it and have unique scenes played out for all ages.

The story cutscenes in Skywalker Saga are too fast-paced and overly-silly in my opinion, but that’s just me.

I like all the CS deaths because it gives it to you straight, the new one reminds me of Lego: Jurassic World where every death isn't an actual death.

@@pianoman8029 Yes, and the Complete Saga is ALSO a Lego game, one that took it's scenes a little more seriously while still having comedic elements, like Maul's legs and the double X death eyes.
Lego can be faithful AND comedic, it doesn't have to solely revolve around parody humor, while barely retaining the context of the original scene.

I would say that when buying a lego game, having those kinds of expectations is unrealistic, sure theyve had a more serious tone back then, but the humour of their target audience back then was also different. Take the skywalker saga as a game made for kids , but by genuine star wars fans. Thats how i see it, a game for kids, not for us adults:)

The new one kinda threw me off. TCS version is more subtle on humor and true to how the scene actually happened which I like more than the goofyness. Watching it the second time it wasn't as bad but I still prefer the more grounded version.
I see it as a bit refreshing cuz if it’s too much like the movies it’s like watching what u already have seen before which is nice for some scenes but can be boring for ofhers

I prefer the original one. Sure, it's older, stiffer looking, and it's pantomiming the death of Qui-Gon, (something that I still do this day have trouble watching whenever I watch the Phantom Menace,) it actually gives you the moment to feel the death. Also, I think they recreated the fight between Maul and Obi-Wan was near spot on. The only thing they missed was having Obi-Wan cut Maul's lightsaber in two, but otherwise, it was a good iteration of the fight.
The one from the Skywalker Saga was somehow a combination of being way too comical way too dramatic and too fast (which was my biggest problem with the Skywalker Saga in a nutshell). Hell, while Obi-Wan is trying to mourn the death over his master, the head of Darth Maul is still trying to kill Obi-Wan. And for some reason end it with Maul's head being used as a basketball before he finally fell down that shaft.

The og is like you can kind of experience the movie. Where as the new one is a straight up parody it feels like Scary Movie or Police Squad I love it haha

The Maul stuff was by far better in the old one. The subtle goof of the legs still standing in the background of the scene is way better than what they did in the new one. They are trying too hard and just pulling a XD RANDOM
However, as much as I like the mumbles on the original, I love the scene with Qui Gon where he keeps smacking Obi Wan in the face while going "Train the boy!"

The original but gotta give points to the new one for actually being an on-screen death as I was worried they wouldn't do that based off other games like Lego Pirates of the Caribbean or Lego The Avengers.
Technically my fear was still correct because The Skywalker Saga likes to have the cutscene deaths happen off screen or not at all if they're minor characters.

I don’t like the overly goofiness of TSS , TCS was funny but still serious in some way . You could get the story through kids eyes even the darker stuff . TCS is the superior Game and always will be no matter how hard they choke the sequels down our throats

A lot of things in The complete Saga are mocking the movie death scenes.
Even though the complete saga is so much older, I prefer it because that was when Lego took their games much more seriously and it actually has meaning to it whereas the Skywalker saga is more goofy and childish.

The Skywalker Saga is the funniest by far, it doesn't take a children's movie seriously and that's why I love it
The complete saga is 100% better in almost every aspect. Missions r better, cutscenes were enjoyable & u could create custom characters. Skywalker saga is better with free roam, mini map & some characters, the rest of it really isn’t as good as people say it is.
I think for me complete saga has a different aproach over all that you have the puzzles for the 100% and the story in a whole package but at the same time i like the aproach skywalker saga did i mean if you really wanna do a story only run you dont need to mess with too much puzzles or repetitive stuff to get to a boss fight in the level you could go and play the story have some goofy stuff and thats it and if you want to do 100%then you go and do all of that in the hub worlds and then go to the story and complete a few extra things that you miss in freeplay, and well gameplay wise for me is way better complete saga didnt age well for me its too slow and boss fights are boring to say the least (and i loved those games back in the ps2 era) but i got to say if you are a die hard purist of old lego games i mean pre lego marvel era then yeah skywalker saga is not gonna be that good at all

The old one is the most dramatic scene in Lego video games probably. I choose old one.
I feel like everyone's forgetting this is a LEGO game. LEGO games follow the story but add comic twists to it. I can see why people would prefer TCC's cutscene due to it being accurate to the film while having some degree of goofiness to it, despite what the scene is, but, again, it's a LEGO game, and although for everyone, they primarily appeal to children. The game doesn't take itself seriously with the storytelling. It's a parody; it's supposed to be funny.
If you've played the Lego Lord of the Rings, It's the same vein of goofiness. I revere Tolkien's work greatly and still enjoyed the comedy Lego added because I knew it was a game and all fun.

Original one is better I liked how it managed to be funny and sad at the same time. The new one's trying to hard at being funny for me and really overshadows how sad Qui Gons death is supposed to be.

While the humor in the Skywalker Saga isn't really for me and doesn't have the same charm like what the Complete Saga did , I still have alot of fun with the game.
Complete saga in 2005, thats kinda sus.
I get that its a lego game, and there are meant to be jokes, but changing a entire scene is just going a little too far.
I like how qui hon in complete saga is just laying there no mouth or eyes moving 😅Sad 😂😂😂

I prefer the death from the Complete Saga because it is both better and more film accurate, I think some of the major character deaths in the Skywalker Saga weren’t very good compared to the films and other games
The original. As silly as the scene was in the new game, it wasn’t really an appropriate moment for a joke.
The new one is way to comedic at crucial plot points for me
