Amazing commentary! I can clearly see you improving your clear and consistent speech, combined with your ability to rationally explain things without going off the beaten track. Hope to see more of your vids :D
Dude Kripparrian is the man. The work he always puts into helping others is undervalued. When I had to swap to a hunter in Wotlk to help our guild in heroic ICC I used a lot of his tips and macros to do so. Now with diablo 3 I use a lot of his tips again. I was a little late to the Diablo 3 inferno party so this helps alot.
Kripp man you do rock...I was struggling with the Barbarian after hell and pretty much wrote the class off. I watched a few of your vids (spec & gear) and now I'm farming inferno. Thanks a bunch:)
Fantastic guide as always Kripp. I was just trying to figure out ways to play better in groups on my barb, Ill definitely keep all these things in mind.
Using the info you have been providing, I just tanked about 50 or so minions and a rare elite for about ten minutes straight, until everything was dead, without dying, all while my entire group died at least two times each. Surviveability kicks ass.
Thanks man for the tips. I'm also playing a Barb solo in inferno and stuck in Act2. These tips will greatly help my chances of surviving. Once again thanks for your good work and keep it up. I subscribed you.
Zerk Rage would work pretty well for just killing normal mobs. It doesnt work so well with insanity+quake because quake takes the damage values at the beginning of the cast. So you would have to spend 50 fury on wrath, then get all the way back to 100, then cast quake.
Awesome video again, I always learn something watching your videos and pass it on to my friends. Thank you so much for making your videos and I hope you keep it up!
5:00 - You can avoid being frozen by orbs with leap too, not just furious charge. If you are in mid air during frozen orb explosions you will not be froze.
I actually found out that if you leap just as Diablo does the fireball that creates a fire ring on impact, you can actually make him shoot it up in the air, very effective, and very easy to do .
It doesn't matter what order percentages are applied. The only time order matters is if you have a Hard value that needs to be applied. So for d3 taking the Ignore pain reduction first or last won't affect the outcome. 100000x.65x.5x.5= 100000x.5x.5x.65
Yeah, as people have said you can leap over the frozen. Works kind of good actually and I do it alot, the downside tho is if there are several mobs putting it down right efter eachother, then you will be able to avoid the first but land in the second and get frozen anyway.
He has mentioned this issue soo many times, farm which ever boss you can quickly farm with 5 valor buffs, If it takes you a long time to farm Magda because you take alot of time killing the 5 champion packs before her then farming jailer and butcher with 5 stacks quicker is more efficient. If you cant farm champion packs in act 1 inferno then "go to hell" and farm Diablo there with the 5 stacks until you have the gold to buy gear for inferno or actually obtain the gear needed for inferno.
Just to say: Leap will work against frozen too. I've spent the last 60 levels perfecting it, but it's much harder than using charge against frozen. You have to time it so that it bursts while you're in the air. :)
Coming up against a 1 trick bosses. I'll sometimes pack, call of ancients, earthquake, and wraith. Brings pure hell for about 30 seconds. Works great when it works. Leaves you hanging high and dry if mis-timed or used against multi-trick bosses such as diablo.
Kungen actually answered this on his stream. His reason was that since you will often run away from rares, you will lose your frenzy stacks, thus giving you a higher boost to damage having sidearm.
In act 3-4 nm I was running : Ignore pain w/ iron hide, rend w/ bloodlust (optional), revenge w/ vengeance, war cry w/ +40% armor, Frenzy sidearm and leap iron impact as my mouse abilities. Passives were Tough as nails, nerves of steel, Inspiring presence/ Bloodthirst. I was literally unkillable and I had normal gear.
I did have frenzy with sidearm but switched to Maniac. At 5 stacks of Frenzy that is 20% more damage at 75% attack more attack speed. Although nice to take out multiple mobs with Sidearm, I prefer more mobs around me for when I am setting off Revenge for the max incoming heals that I can get, which generally nullifies any incoming damage and more.
That's one of the major issues with the game right now, and a lot of people are pointing to the fact that Blizz wants us to use the AH (soon to be RMAH) for gear rather than finding it. Anyway what I would suggest is that once you feel comfortable with the Warden + Butcher runs, start making and putting on more magic find gear. I'm currently doing these runs with ~300% mf (nephalem stacks included) which makes more decent stuff drop and allows you to prepare for Act 2 better.
cool. thanks. I added battle rage as my right mouse click as it becomes available more often than other skills and does 30% dmg for 30secs but its more like having 30% all the time.
Go into your options, and turn on Elective Mode. Now when you go into your skills you can click the arrows near the top and select whichever skill you want to go into that button. presto.
About superstition; You have a 20% chance to absorb the attack, taking no damage from it. It will average out to 20% less damage - but it is not as consistent as the tooltip states.
Go into the game options, go to gameplay options. On the right hand side there is a check box for elective mode. Check it, you can now use any ability on any button including right and left mouse click. Happy demon slaying :D
War Cry with dodge is great for grouping with Monks with certain builds as well. I personally have ~50% dodge chance on my Monk since I use the dodge-passive AND Mantra of Evasion with the rune that deals 56% weapon damage each time I dodge. Imagine that with an extra 15% from War Cry. It's amazing to pop serenity and run inbetween Fire Chains-mobs or a huge pack. For me, it crits for almost 20k even though I only have 17k damage. :)
very nice bro..gotta question, how do you use furious charge and revenge when in - game skills shows them both under might? im new to this and dont want to be limited to whats under the in - game menu
Go to the game options, go to gameplay. On the right hand side there is a check box called Elective mode. Check it....you can now use any ability on any button or mouse click. Happy demon slaying :)
Thank you for that very helpful video. But i've got 3 Questions that are bothering me right now. It would be very nice if you could answer them: I'm only playing solo so im also talking about your solo skill setting which i also often use. 1: For your last flexible skill set on 2 in your case. What do you think about Overpower with Revel rune? It deals nice dmg and has nice heal. And comparred to the dmg output what do u think about Battle rage with Maraudor's rage rune? Ofc u loose the heal
Can you also do a vid where you talk about or show what items you may need for better performance, or perhaps where the best spots to farm for gear are?
Kripp, I would love to know how aggro really works in this game. I have been playing the game with a group most of the time and as far as I can tell aggro is "mostly" based on range, but at times it does not seem to be that case all the time. A video on aggro would help out a lot of players. Thanks.
hey krip...you really know your stuff and all... i was wondering... what do you do with your old gear after you find an upgrade? Do you sell it on the AH? I'd like to buy it from you if you don't!
im in Act3 hell mode and im dual wield max rage/crit build and so far i haven't had any issues with it at all, some packs would deff benefit from shield and board no lie but its not like it cant be done. im working on leveling my monk next and so far realy enjoying the gameplay as well.
There doesn't seem to be a GCD between Taunt and Leap.. you can hit them one right after the other. With that said, what if you do something like Taunt -> Leap. Can they still hit you while you are airborne? If not, will they still be taunted? If this works the way I think, you would taunt->leap and not take any damage while in the air but still have the mobs trying to hit you and not your team. When you land you will have 4x armor. Thoughts?
If you're in inferno changing your abilites will drop your valor buffs which you won't be doing. Frenzy with sidearm coupled with revenge is still very fast at clearing white packs and honestly you'd be gimping yourself using cleave against champion packs and bosses.
What do you think of Overpower? I've been using it in act 2 inferno and it's been helping as it does massive damage and healing. Why is threatening shout better overall as the last skill you get than overpower?
Kripp what do you think about using Relentless to have a 50% damage reduction when you are low so you can get back up or get some cooldowns back before you die? The zero fury cost could mean some crazy fury spender could work ey`? Tell me what you think. I know its stupid to aim for being at 20% hp but it happens a lot.
I am selffound barb at A1 Hell and having some difficulties. First of all, since my armor resistances are laughable, I have to use gorunding stomp even on regular mobs. That's why I don't use Revenge and use Cleave with explosions. But as you said, my only reliable damage skill against bosses actually is Earthquake. Anyways, does big 2hander actually kill them quicker than a quick, but less damaging 1hander? I have a feeling that Earthquake does more damage ticks in the same time with fast weap?
Hey kripp, what's a good benchmark on resists/life/armor/dps for act 2? I am farming all of act 1 and doing waden/butcher runs but when i start act 2 I get my ass handed to me. Is a life on hit wep NEEDED for act 2? I have a 806 dps 1 handed sword atm.
Thanks for the info, got a question if you have time. I have 800 all resist and 8400 armor buffed with 37khp, 8250 dmg and 295 life on hit and i stand NO chance in act 2 it seems like, i just get absolutly destroyed by any champion/elite mobs. Iv been using your specs, any suggestions on what stats i need more of? i seems like i should be able to do act 2 inferno by now
Another great vid, keep them coming. I have some doubts about farming loot for act 2. Currently farming act 1, chapter 9 (inferno), second part; getting 5 stacks of valor and killing 2 bosses, the last one being the butcher. and im getting shit gear; no upgrades at all. i really dont understand why i get rare items with so low dps , stats, and armor, that are not even good enough for hell mode. Such bad loot. why? how does the loot table work? is it totaly random?
hey kripp, isnt demo shout with grim harvest better than earthquake, and berserker's rage instead of brawler since you wont be nearby 3 mobs all the time?
tested these skills in act 2 post 1.0.3 and was able to kill elites with my puny crap gear (less than a million worth) thank you for explaining the skills, I learn new stuff everday :) I hope to find a build one day that doesn't involve stormshield and string of ears whatever they were called to win inferno...
@Kripparrian Can you do a video on armor farming? Magic find % vs. Valor Stacks. It seems it's all so random. I'm struggling trying to find good gear to solo inferno. I've gotten my VIT up to 45K but it does not seem to make a difference. Is it better to have more RESIST ALL than VIT???
maybe i missed something but in game i didnt think you could use 2 rage skills.... you said you use wrath of berserker, then earthquake. hows that possible? because i didnt think it was possible to use the skill then change it in mid cooldown????? please explain
2: Wouldn't it be also very nice to use Relentness as a passive instead of tough as nails? I feel that many times i drop under 20% and that passive saved my ass. 3: If you could choose a belt with the same stats beside one has 20% meele dmg reduction or the other with 70 resistance to all. Which one would you take? Thank you alot if you consider answering these questions : )
When you are in your spellbook, and you mouse over an abilitly how do you get it to say the actual number(s) that the abilitly does? Like my sidearm only says "has a chance to throw a piercing axe."

Just out of curiousity why does noone use berserkers rage? with warcry u get 30 rage and it builds up pretty quickly, since the build doesnt really use rage ur almost always at max, isnt it more consistent than brawler?
iron impact puts me at ~88% reduction from armor according to character sheet (up from ~68ish) I'm not familiar with how the reduction from ignore pain works, but wouldn't it be more reduction on a higher CD but usable during CC?
Love how generous you are with well-articulated breakdowns of the Barb Kripp, thanks a lot!
Amazing commentary! I can clearly see you improving your clear and consistent speech, combined with your ability to rationally explain things without going off the beaten track.
Hope to see more of your vids :D
Dude Kripparrian is the man. The work he always puts into helping others is undervalued. Thanks Krip for the great vid! You're one of the few that actually goes in depth on the skills you use. Very, very helpful!
Kripp man you do rock...I was struggling with the Barbarian after hell and pretty much wrote the class off. I watched a few of your vids (spec & gear) and now I'm farming inferno. Thanks a bunch:)
Thanks for this vid Kripp! We had all seen your spec but it was well worth it to hear your reasoning.
SO HELPFUL! I wasn't sure how to best spec my barb.
Thanks A LOT Kripp.
Thanks man for the tips. I'm also playing a Barb solo in inferno and stuck in Act2. These tips will greatly help my chances of surviving. Once again thanks for your good work and keep it up. I subscribed you.
You are right, but for whatever reason, leaping freezes is very inconsistent for me. Charging them often works successfully.
Go into options and turn on "elective mode". It allows you to setup your bar however you would like. It is a must for Inferno.
Zerk Rage would work pretty well for just killing normal mobs. It doesnt work so well with insanity+quake because quake takes the damage values at the beginning of the cast. So you would have to spend 50 fury on wrath, then get all the way back to 100, then cast quake.
Really good guide Kripp, thank you very much for the in depth guide, love how you give attention to detail on these things, Cheers!
thanks for the vid Kripp! informative as always. I'm rolling a hardcore barb right now and this is prime education right here
Awesome video again, I always learn something watching your videos and pass it on to my friends. Thank you so much for making your videos and I hope you keep it up!
5:00 - You can avoid being frozen by orbs with leap too, not just furious charge. If you are in mid air during frozen orb explosions you will not be froze.
Legend. Love the vids - explains what each skill does and it's use, very professional. Will definitely try this out on my barb.
finally i have been waiting for this for days
That thing you said about ignoring the frozen globe pops is doable with leap aswell. You just have to be in the air during the pop.
I actually found out that if you leap just as Diablo does the fireball that creates a fire ring on impact, you can actually make him shoot it up in the air, very effective, and very easy to do .

Since the beginning that i follow you on WoW (wotlk) it's the same with D3 !!! The best player stay the BEST Hunter/Barbarian. You're like GOD ^^
barbarian is now not impossible to play, thank you so much.
Turn on Elective Mode in options, then when you're changing a skill you can just go left and right to pick skills from different categories.
He has mentioned this issue soo many times, farm which ever boss you can quickly farm with 5 valor buffs, If it takes you a long time to farm Magda because you take alot of time killing the 5 champion packs before her then farming jailer and butcher with 5 stacks quicker is more efficient.

Great video Kripp, you have realy nice clean voice and good diction:) Great to listen to for non native english speakers. Thanks
Just to say: Leap will work against frozen too. I've spent the last 60 levels perfecting it, but it's much harder than using charge against frozen. You have to time it so that it bursts while you're in the air. :)

Very helpful explanation on some of the runes.
Just an FYI Leap can dodge Frozen elites as well if you time the leap properly.

Worth the entire 19 minutes -- good video.
I was told to try a 2h, and i farmed for a bit and bought a 1,3k dps 2h. Actually works well.
Thank you for that very helpful video. But i've got 3 Questions that are bothering me right now. It would be very nice if you could answer them:

Hey Kripp, What makes Sidearm on Frenzy so useful? I've generally been using the healing rune for Frenzy. Thanks

ty kripp, I'll have to try Demoralize out sometime when the situation warrants it.
Great video. One question arises, what follower do you find best when soloing? I tend to bounce between Enchanter and Templar.
go to options > and enable advanced tooltips
Nice vid, thanks for the info, I would be interested in seeing what changes you make now that 1.0.3 is live.
hey krip...you really know your stuff and all... i was wondering... what do you do with your old gear after you find an upgrade? Do you sell it on the AH? I'd like to buy it from you if you don't!
u can also leap to avoid getting stunned by frost. just jump shortly before they pop
Hey Kripp. Do you have a build and gear recommendation for going in a party of 4? Or is that flat out suicide...?
im in Act3 hell mode and im dual wield max rage/crit build and so far i haven't had any issues with it at all, some packs would deff benefit from shield and board no lie but its not like it cant be done. im working on leveling my monk next and so far realy enjoying the gameplay as well.

the shield wall can be used while stunned/cced so it's wayy better
Best spec ever, thank you!
I am selffound barb at A1 Hell and having some difficulties. First of all, since my armor resistances are laughable, I have to use gorunding stomp even on regular mobs. Great specs! got me trough ZK in the fist try (after 5 failed attempts)
awesome overview, looks like i'm doing pretty decent and learned a few tricks. Thanks.
did they change the layout of skills since this video? I don't have furious charge as a mouse skill!
If you use leap at the correct time against frozen you immune it, it is hard to time it but it is possible. At least I believe i have seen it work.
hey kripp, isnt demo shout with grim harvest better than earthquake, and berserker's rage instead of brawler since you wont be nearby 3 mobs all the time?
tested these skills in act 2 post 1.0.3 and was able to kill elites with my puny crap gear (less than a million worth)
thank you for explaining the skills, I learn new stuff everday :)
I hope to find a build one day that doesn't involve stormshield and string of ears whatever they were called to win inferno...
I built mine to be a crit hit/dmg nuke barb. It works most of the time, couple elites mobs give me a hard time but you adapt.
If you are in the air leaping when the freeze goes off you don't get frozen either.
Hey Kripp! In D2 whirlwind was what defines a Barb. How bout in D3 (Inferno)? Is Whirlwind really that redundant?
This may be a stupid question, but do you have elective mode enabled?
you can also time your leap to avoid the frozen bombs
normal mode you can play however you want; you can make any build work.
I use charge and leap to get out of frozen orbs but leap is more ping dependent, charge have a large leeway.
I amshocked to not see my favorate skills mentioned in the video :(
1) Whirlwind with Hurrincane - Whirlwind actually lets you travel THROUGH the mobs Surrounded? No problem.ts also used to easily take out bunch of enemies
2) Sprint with Marathon - Imgaine using this with above
3) Unforgiving and Boon of bul-kathos - Awesome when fighting frequent champs
4) Revenge with Vengance is mine - The 8% life and 5 fury is so good. I refill my fury pool 10 times during a single fight in less than 30 secs
There's an option in the menu for advanced or concise tool tips or something like that.
Great info Kripp, thanks!
Now, go make a demon hunter. Would love to see you tackle that one!
Furious Charge works to avoid frozen orbs as well.
Is Sidearm better than Maniac for singletarget DPS? If you consider the 20% extra damage to Revenge.
Hey Kripp, what do you think of the Pound of Flesh passive?
what are your thoughts on high crit perpetual whirlwind builds?
Just out of curiousity why does noone use berserkers rage? with warcry u get 30 rage and it builds up pretty quickly, since the build doesnt really use rage ur almost always at max, isnt it more consistent than brawler?
sweet. thanks Ive been trying to figure that out forever!
Hey Kripp do you have a link to your friend's WD? Does he have a channel?
iron impact puts me at ~88% reduction from armor according to character sheet (up from ~68ish) I'm not familiar with how the reduction from ignore pain works, but wouldn't it be more reduction on a higher CD but usable during CC?
