lmao saying Nichushkin needs to "keep his nose clean" is apt in more ways than one. hahahahaha
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nichushkin has 78pm in 512 games. He's a pretty clean player on the ice
Hes pretty nose dirty off the ice which is the problem 😉@@Tryingtoavoidshadowban
@@benderbendingrodriguez420pun went over his head
Needs to keep his powder dry! 👃🏻
"Keep his nose clean."
Sensible chuckle.
If Kakko ever has a good season he'd better give a shout out to THG for never giving up on him!!!
Yh, I am not sure there's a single Rangers fan left, who actually believes in Kakko breaking out - at least not that he does so in NY.
Thg isnt only one that likes Kakko, Zibanejad must have had a saying as well, since he is often playing with him even though some fans seem to have given up. Could even be part of the new contract as well, who knows.
"keep his nose clean" lol
I'm currently watching the video and I'm really hoping it's nichuskin
Ahh 😂
I heardit was painkillers
@@biffdanielson2820 possibly, but tons of players do those unfortunately. So it would be odd he would be the only one suspended.
@@tradertrav6414 The reason he is suspended is the Avs wanted him to get help and enter the program. which makes the suspension kinda look bad, because now what team is ever going to get help for their key players if it risks them being screwed over, stuck with a cap hit not being able to trade or play the player.
I’m sure this will be discussed in the next GM/Owners meeting. Also im pretty confident this is going to be Nichuskins last chance. He’s burned them twice in a row and stunned the team leading to a guaranteed loss(except kraken was close)
the game Avs/Stars played hours after the news.. Avs hadnt looked that asleep on the ice whole season. Stars were probably winning in 7, but when it came to scoring chances up until that point Avs had had the better chances in more games than Dallas- but lost the goalie battle by a far margin. Avs had all kinda chances, but once the Stars managed to score first (almost every game) they were able to use that lead to get wins except for game 1.
the fact that Pettersson had more goals than half the guys on the board had points just shows how elite he is and how much more he can be
You either got it or you don't. If Kakko has it he'd better take it out the box soon.
Kakko, the player equivalent of the Buffalo Sabers. THG must be like "It eventually HAS to happen"
It just might. I mean he has great underlying numbers but just cant finish, just like Nichuskin used to
Buffalo SABRES are putting together a pretty good team. Kakko has had one sort-of not-bad year (much like Puljujarvi) but can't do enough to merit more ice-time. Looking back on the 2019 Draft the European D-skaters have done far better than the Forward ones as far as "Best Scouted Players."
Couterier situation was so weird this past season, gets named Captain then gets benched a couple weeks later.
26:08 This is not gonna feel the same now 😢
This could almost be a list of "If you dont get better you're getting traded". At least for a good number of them.
Or if u don’t get better you go on LTIR 😎
You guys ever watch THG vids at .75 speed? Pretty funny
Had to try it at .5, it's hilarious. It's like THG just came back from the bar and he felt like talking about hockey all smashed. Recommend when he talks about Pettersson.
@@TylerELthank you for the good laugh lol
Entertainment Guy more so, he speaks more liberally there.
I feel the pain Shannon of Kakko just not breaking through. He's my favorite player and it's gonna be a sad day when he gets traded away because at this point the Rangers won't keep him if they can use him to get a star right winger.
I already know the moment we trade him away that he will become a superstar elsewhere. That will kill me.
Send him to San Jose alongside Trouba's contract, we healthy scratch Trouba and he just lives in New York with his wife and kid. Problem solved.
He should just concentrate on his skating the whole summer.
He almost never drives at the net and tries to keep things safe because of his speed. Just clings on to the puck in the corners for a minute and nothing comes out of it.
@@amazingkook143 how come Kakko is your favorite player? Are you a fellow Devils fan? 😅
I just can't imagine any Rangers fan not related to Kakko having him as their favorite player
the way this market talks about Petey is like the dude was playing at the pace of Eriksson when he was here, people need to get a grip
You might have already done it, but it would be fun to see a breakdown of the highest selling player jerseys for each year over the last few years or so. Would be easy to look up but I'd rather watch you do it.
I know you aren't putting goalies on here, but I think Kuemper is a good bounceback candidate for LA. I think the team as a whole has regressed some, but I think he'll do well playing behind a pretty good team defense
I thought Shannon would say Phillip Danault
19:33 I knew it, your favorite team is really the Avs! You drank a drink out of a can, the Ball Corporation is one of the largest manufacturers of aluminum cans, and the Avs play at Ball Arena!
Edit: I can't tell from the video, but it might've even been a Pepsi product and the arena used to be named the Pepsi Center!
I just LOVE the fact that Carolina got crushed by managements petty desire for revenge.
On KK?
@@benderbendingrodriguez420Jesperi K not living up to that Offer Sheet/Contract
@@WilliamBonney-gl2qf too bad we wasted that 1st panic buying on dvorak. could've had brad lambert with that pick.
and now the guy responsible for that is helping rob blake destroy the kings. well, he did throw the puck in his own net as a player. how smart can he be?
@@doaftheloaf Is that Marc Bergevin?
@@WilliamBonney-gl2qf yup.
Copp bouncing back would be a huge help but it's hard to imagine. I hate to crap on a guy but he just doesn't have any real stand out skills.
I do think Tarasenko would be fun with him and Rasmussen. Everyone thinks Tarasenko is automatically in the top 6, but I'd rather see Berggren and Kane making plays together and Tarasenko and Ras using their size to win puck battles.
Watching this today and the final 1:45 of this video make me so sad he was such a stud may he be dazzling the masses with the greats among the stars. RIP13 😔
It was released that Pettersson had an injury he was playing with in the second half. It explains the significant difference in production compared to the first half.
Also, how can Kakko bounce back if he never really ever showed up in the first place? 🤔
Sheary played on a broken foot from mid November on according to Julien Brisebois good pick.
Sliding in with my usual opinion on Stars stuff.
Hintz was my pick too, I think Hintz has insane potential, point per game is almost an expectation to me, I think if he had a really good on-season, he's looking to push 100 wish assists to Robo and Johnston all day long.
That said, my honorable mentions are Robo, Heiskanen, and Oettinger all having bounceback years. Dallas Stars had a great season, but I felt like the big stars were all having an off season. Oettinger had a lot of messy games, Heiskanen's offense was lower, and Robo fell off hard. It was the depth that picked up where they fell off. Would love to see the Star Players of the Stars have a big year again, and then have that depth drive us home in the playoffs!
Once the early success ended for Anaheim, line juggling was a near constant. If Anaheim can stay healthy, they can build some line chemistry and a lot of offensive numbers should go up.
Thompson will be fine, wrist and back injuries hurt him coming back and playing as he should. Couldn't get his shot off with those injuries
Lousty is a lot like Lundell coming from a defense first mentality, and I am perfectly ok with that and can also play Center if need be.
If Wilson can get his offense to the 20 goal, 50 point range the Caps will be cake this season.
I still find it hilarious talking to some Canucks fans on social media about Pettersson. Yes, he had a rough finish. But he had 89 points. If he'd finished with the same point totals and been consistent all the way along, I don't think you'd see anywhere near the criticism. I don't know what fans were expecting exactly. Sure, he's on a big contract, but going forward 11 million for a 90 point player is going to be pretty reasonable. And he's done it before in the playoffs.
Elias Lindholm is great at faceoffs which was a big struggle especially in the playoffs and scoring was a big struggle too in the playoffs
Damn, thought this was a new video, and saw Johnny hockey for Columbus and could not believe you posted this. I'm dumb. RIP
I think Mangiapane and Dubois are much better candidates to bounce back from their 40 point seasons than Wilson is to bounce back from his 35 point season. You correctly noted that power forwards in their 30s don't tend to increase their scoring very much.
We have to wait and see how Norris's shoulder holds up. He's had two procedures done on it and he is 25 years old. Unfortunately, he could be one more serious injury away from never playing again. Hoping for the best though.
Always super content
I need a video where you go through the previous year's bounce back candidiates to see how many you called correctly
We love you Shannon!!!!
I must say - out of all the TH-cam channels I watch wrt hockey news, you are by far my favorite - even though you're a dastardly 'Canucks' fan lol - you stay very neutral and have great comments with stats to back it up!
I really like your insights. Pettersen had a great year up until the new year where he struggled a bit but I agree.. he can produce a lot of points and I think he’ll get there again. A lot of people are seeing the big contract and the playoff struggle but I also think he was playing through an injury. Looking forward to the season!
Props for doing the video in one 27 minute take 😎
For Seattle I might also say Beniers
Huberdeau went from the biggest point drop in NHL history one year to even fewer points in more games the year after. Is he one of those classic "I got my money now I don't try" players?
@@XaviRonaldo0 good question, can someone explain wth happened to Huberdeau? Looked him up and he’s older than I thought, will be 31yo this season. From age 24 in 17-18 he went 69, 92, 78, 61 (55 games), 115, and then traded to Calgary and went 55, 52 while missing just 4 games total. I guess easy answer is his linemates or he doesn’t fit in coaches system
Eady answer. No Aleksander Barkov.
@@richardober8373 Yep. No more Barkov effect
@@richardober8373 False. Easy answer: the system. He mostly didn't play with Barkov. + Calgary is ass and he don't wanted to be there in the first place, he wanted to be a Panther for life. He doesnt't fit Calgary and Calgary doesn't fit him right now with 0 talent, they're in a rebuild.
No, some people fail to realize that Huberdeau is still the same guy, it's just that the Panthers and the Flames are miles away from each other, depth wise.
The Panthers had a great top 6 when he was playing there. The fact they could have Barkov on one line and Huberdeau on another just allowed him to play against weaker lines half of the time. Flames only have one line (which in itself isn't so great), they can't do the same as the Panthers, so he plays against the best line and best D pair, night after night.
Also, the systems of both teams are really not the same. He fitted more in Florida's system than he fits in Calgary's...
On the Jets, I could see Pionk bouncing back. His last season and a half were rough, but he's been stellar in the past (Hey Connor McDavid - remember the 2021 playoffs?)
Great video! Maybe a little feedback - could you name the contract that the player has when you list their points? It helps gauge their performance.
I don’t know many contracts for these players in the eastern conference.
Love the channel!
Copp is being used as a defensive center now. Don't expect the offense to return.
yep, good list; having said that, i'd put Seth Jones in for the Hawks, & Aaron Ekblad for the Cats. while they were both pretty good from a strictly playing perspective, their point totals were pretty low compared to their normal production, so feel they're good candidates for bounce back seasons
Great Video, as usual, Mike
bounce backs seasons...
1 under the radar player &
1 top 6/Top pair D/#1 Goalie for each,
Ana,
- Lundestrm, hits 40 pts? - I think he is a bit underrated,
- Terr will get 70+ pts
Bos,
- Beechr, he has the skill to hit 20 gls,
- either 1 of the Lindhol (altho both are a bit overpaid)
Buf,
- Kreb, I don't see how he isn't a 40 pt player, &
- as for their top players so many should rebound it's not even funny - Thomps, Dahl, Cozen, etc.
Cgy,
- J.Bean, can he hit 30 pts, he will get minutes in Cgy,
- Hubie - with his skill he has to hit atleast 70-75pts.
Car,
- S.Walkr, can he hit 40 pts. or Drury should be a 20 goal guy, 45+ pts.
- Orlv, I think he is better than he showed
Chi,
- Reichl, kind of a forgotten 1st Rd prospect, but he can hit 20 goals.
- T.Hall, scores 25+ if he plays on the Top 6 for most of the yr
Col,
- Wood, I've always thought he would turn into a 20g scorer if his hands caught up to his feet
- S.Girar, he's atleast a 2nd pair D.
CLB,
- Merzlikin, I think he is still a good goalie who can rebound,
- a few of them...Laine, if he's healthy, can score 40, Gaudrea should get 70+ pts, & K.Johns is capable of 30g down the road - unless some dumb GM trades him first
Dal,
- Lundkvis, 25 pts as a regular?
- Segui, solid player if he is healthy
Det,
- Velen, has all the tools to turn into an effective two way 3rd line centre.
- Huss, solid keeper still I think.
Edm,
- Brobrg, finally entrenches as Oilers 3rd pair D
- Nurs, overpaid, but he is better than his last couple of seasons. E.Kan as well well. Both are quality players
Flo,
- A.Boqvis, he is better than his league min. caphit suggests
- Lundel, when is he gonna hit 60pts????
LAk,
- Kaliyv (if he resigns), 20 goals? eventually.
- Gavrikv, although not a premiere offensive D, should put up more pts
LVgk,
- V.Olofss, was underutilized in Buf, but there is a 30 gl man there with Eich or Karlss.
- Hanif, really flourished in the 2nd half of the yr.
Mtl,
- Andersn, if he can stay healthy & finishes half of his opportunities he is a 25 goal player.
- Newhk, should be a 55-60 pt player eventually
Min,
- Folign, should be scoring 20+ goals every yr.
- Rossi & Hartmn, will both turn a corner & hit 50+ pts (25gls, 30+ assists)
Nas,
- Parsinn & Tomasin, both need more ice time.
- Saro, can he win a Vezin?
NJ,
- Mercer, former 1st Rd'r looked like a future all star in his rookie yr, took a step back in last yr.
- Hamilt, coming back from injury
NYI,
- Duclai, 20-25 goals on the Top 6 is possible
- Lee, in the twilight of his career, why not a rebound from his poor last few seasons
NYr
- Kakk, should eventually pan out into a 25 goal man one would think, in NY or elsewhere
- K'A Mill & Chytl, both have all the tools to explode offensively
Ott
- both Grei & Pint, which one emerges as Sens #2 centre.
- Norrs current #2 centre, just needs to stay healthy. Can he be moved to the wing?
Phi
- Poehl, potential as a 3rd line centre one would think
- Farabe, hoping he hits 30 goals, skill is there
Pit
- Beauvili & Grzelck, both UFA signings who are decent players who need more ice time
- Karlssn & Malki, both had down yrs
StL
- Perunovi, when is this guy gonna start producing offensively, has lots of skill
- Kyrou, 50 goals for him is possible.
SJ,
- Gushchn (when is he gonna get called up from the AHL) & Bordeleau (2 good prospects should break out soon)
- Eklnd, 30 goals this yr, possible
Sea
- R. Evan, a bit like Perunov, 2 prospects who should make their mark soon, 35+ pts?
- Lots of players...Burakovs, Benier - surely scores 30g, & Wrigh who I think will get 60 pts the next couple of yrs as the #2 centre
Tam
- Shear, had a poor season, should be a bit better.
- Cirell, 50 pts should be attainable
Tor
- Holmbrg or Kamp, both are capable as 3rd line centres
- Liljgrn, can he reach 40 pts?
Uta,
- Kerfioo, 40 pts this yr?
- Durz, 45 pts this yr?
Van,
- Podkolz, still a good prospect just needs more ice time
- DeBrsk, overrated by some, underrated by others. But should score 30+ goals
Was,
- McMichea - future #2 centre, needs to take another step offensively & Sandi - perfect situation in Was for him to become a solid 2nd pair D
- Wilsn, 35 goals surely this yr
Wpg
- Sambrg & Iafall, there is more offensive upside there with these 2.
- Perfett, has all the skill to get 60+ pts
I don't think I've ever been happier in my devil's fandom, than I am retrospectively looking back at Johnny flaking on us for Columbus.
I enjoy your videos I'm a fan of the flyers and hockey for 50 years. I saw orr and espo guy and ken trotts potvin and the boss....saw the great one in 1981 score 4 and collect an assist in 5 3 win over my flyers. Still have many ticket stubbs....
I think 99s 4th goal was his 100th......
Mike Sullivan hates Rakell. Jerks him around the lineup. Refuses to play him on lines he has chemistry with. Not shocked he struggled last year
I like Copp. Last year with Sprong, Veleno, Fabbri on the 4th line as a scoring line and the low defense of the top 6, that leaves Ras, Copp, Fischer as the defense focused 'shutdown' line strategically. Easy to see why his scoring is low but there was stretches last year they had great success amd were really important
Patrik Laine, wherever he is going to play… maybe the fresh start works, maybe it doesn’t, but the numbers will get up from last year or the year before that.
Zegras is going to have a much bigger bounce back in points than Terry.
Yeah I expected to see Z as the choice as well. You could argue that Z was hurt for so much that his year was kind of a wash, where as Terry played 76 games and needed more production for the ducks to win a higher percentage of those 1 goal games.
It seems likely that he's traded somewhere else though, so he knows
@@BloodRider1914 That’s all bogus rumors, he’s not on the block.
@@BloodRider1914 Trading zegras when his value is the lowest it has ever been after an injury plagued season is one of the dumbest things Beeker could do unless someone massively overpays on his potential. Ducks need offense, what trades make sense at his current value?
Copp is one you scratch your head at. Been very disappointing in Detroit. Gave him a pass for the 1st year coming off core surgery. But, last year was worse. The guy I see having a big bounceback season is Rasmussen. Still young. Big guy who was very good 2 years ago. Had a bad year last year. Be a big plus for Detroit if he rights his ship
I'd have Stutzle for the Sens struggled with wrist injuries all season hence only the 18 goals I think we see him bounce back to 30 goals and hitting 90-100pts as long as he stays healthy. Norris is still a good pick but even though he's showed he can score more idk after all his shoulder surgeries he will ever get back to the 35-40 goals minimum we would have expected from him 2 years ago. I'm just going to be happy if he can have a full healthy season and hit 20 goals at this point just want him playing in the lineup
Meier on NJ should see a big increase from last season, playing with Hughes all year I'm going to guess he increases by 20 points.
Glass was my pick, but honorable mentions to Novak. He came into his own in the 22-23 season finally making the roster and showed he can put up points when paired with the right guys (the line of Novak-Glass-Evangelista was really strong) and he put up 43 points in 51 games. This season he had 45 points in 71 games. He could probably get closer to that 60 point mark in that many games.
19:32 was that a beer??? lol
he's on record saying he doesn't drink beer and thinks it's gross. most likely a cherry coke or something...
As soon as you said you excluded goalies, I was like "Alright who does that leave for Florida now without Spencer Knight". Luosty is definitely a valid pick for sure.
Wish Burakovsky was still in COL, was my favourite player.
He said Nuke has to keep his nose clean. Lmao
Nobody is ever trading for Couterier unless Philly retains 100% of the salary and throws in a pizzasteak.
That's Andre 'Will Miss 4 to 6 Weeks - Undisclosed Lower Body Injury' Burakovsky to you, THG. Most frustrating player on the Kraken. I can't even hate him cause its bad luck, but man I wish they had that cap space...
32k for the 32 teams videos.
Fair enough.
Kapanen was the perfect choice for the Blues. He is an excellent skater. Had plenty of chances. Hopefully this is a better year for him.
Players need more off years that. Have 90 pts
Josh Anderson absolutely should be a 20+ goal scorer but he's not going to get there playing on the third or fourth lines. If he ends up on the second line with a healthy Dach and Newhook, Anderson could have a career year next year.
I agree that Sheary needs to be better but the Bolts would really need Vasilevsky to bounce back to his old unbeatable self.
I’m shocked Sheary is still in Tampa. I don’t think he fits in Coop’s system
Palat’s best days are behind him but he’s getting paid for them now. Hopefully Mercer will have a bounce back
Theoretically, you could have chosen DeBrusk for the Canucks. He played half of last season with a broken hand. Playing on either the Peterson or Miller line, he should see improved production this upcoming season.
Jersey looks good
Andrew Copp is the perfect example of what is holding the wings back
Josh Anderson got everything to score a decent 25 goals. Hes big, he got speed and hes capable of scoring but the lack of effort is what cuts the line.
no kirby dach for the habs?
Really fell out of the loop this summer... any word on Landeskog coming back?
Think the last update was him saying he wants to play this season but other than that there’s been nothing
Your thoughts are always helpful, and yes, positive. And any criticism you give is always, always constructive. And…I absolutely agree on Copp! He is one of the few Detroit contracts that I’m disappointed with. I like him too, and I do hope that he has a bounce back year!
48 assists for Gaudreau ain't bad but 12 goals is ridiculous. He needs to keep the assists where they are and at least score goals in the 30's and that's kind of where his Calgary production was at except for that one freak season.
gaudreau is wild to me bc when he signed in columbus he didn’t even know who kent johnson was 😭😭 imagine signing somewhere and not caring about knowing the teams best prospect (at the time)
So many players could qualify for this video on the kraken.
Connor Brown was the unluckiest player in the NHL last year. He played very well just didn’t have the numbers to show it.
I'm hoping Nuke and Georgie will have bounce back seasons this year
Terry makes sense... but I think Zegras will either have a comeback... or be traded.
I would pick Cozens instead of Thompson as bounce back candidate in Buffalo. Cozens had 18 goals and 47 point last season but season before he had 31 goals and 68 points. So if he will be able to score around 25-30 goals and 60 points again it will probably help Sabres more. Because it would mean that Sabres have two dangerous scoring lines
Tage Thompson wasn't 100% when he came back from his wrist/hand injury. He himself said he rushed back too soon so I'm confident he'll get back to 40-50 goals this season
30-40 maybe
stutzle
Dallas should pick up Couture. Let's try Joe 2.0.
I would've said Knight for Florida, hoping for a bounce back year w/ that contract he was given and the circumstances surrounding him.
He didn't consider goalies
@@XaviRonaldo0 "I didn't know who to put here. So I'll pick Eetu" lol could've just considered goalies for unique situations where he couldn't pick anyone
Shame Johnny Gaudraeu didn’t have a chance to bounce back. He would’ve but now we’ll never know. RIP legend
Johnny!!
That must be the proverbial 'good problem to have' if you're a Vancouver fan eh?
Really hoping Petey will be able to bounce back this season! He seemed to be doing fine towards the beginning of last season but was definitely struggling for the latter half, although I do think his injury had something to do with it. He just didn't look like his normal self.
for Josh Anderson it always felt like i would personally be better at aiming than him...its always either on the logo or 3 feet wide.....the pass towards him can be perfect but somehow the puck begins to bounce like a superball the moment he gets it
Canucks fans when Pettersson averages above a point per game: “trade him”
As a Devils fan I'd pick Dawson Mercer instead of Palat (who likely is never gonna bounce back)
Burakovsky was great for sweden in Wc. I garantee he will bounce back.
Also imagine being over a ppg player and be on this list😂
Stutzle is definitely my pick for ottawa after that hard fall off he had on goals, dude had some awful luck. Norris is a good pick I hope he plays a full season with no issues because I feel like that is his biggest hurdle not from an "can he stay healthy" standpoint but from a mental perspective I'm sure it would take a massive load off his shoulders.
For Florida I think Tkachuk's numbers come back up maybe not to the level of 2023 but who knows maybe they'll be even better.
Jonny/Monny together again has promise, especially as MTL let him get healthy and didn't dump him in tough minutes as soon as he could stand again like Calgary was doing.
i don’t know about couturier. he’s been injury prone for a year and a half
"And I'm wearing Detroit because they've been out for so long and have to get back in right?" Cue my sad Buffalo Sabres fan noises
The thing about Johnny Gaudreau is he still led CBJ in scoring. I’m not sure what else he could do; there hasn’t been anyone to pass to.
CBJ just feels like a stale swamp currently
@@xmarine73 yeah, a bounce back for him would require the whole team to bounce back.
@@xmarine73always*
Columbus was as stupid to sign him as he was to sign with that tire-fire. They never learn their lesson; throw a ton of money at some shiny object who immediately either gets hurt or under-performs or both. They never seem to understand that they are the Winnipeg of the USA when it comes the NHL. Build from within and quit thinking "Nearly There" when there's miles to go yet.
@@TheSVK nah, Nash was exciting times. A long time ago but exciting nonetheless.
Several bounce back candidates for the Sabres
Remember red hope is a good thing
I think the issue with keeping things positive is that people like watching negativety.
The top comments here are a perfect example. People will click watch and like negative news over positive
Thompson played injured most of the season. Dylan Cozens should be the bounce back candidate on Buffalo.
