philipb yes it does bc the goal is to reach all 7 summits and she did, she just died when descending. at least her life goal was fulfilled before her death
Even if she doesnt get back down alive, the moment she summited she got the 7 Summits, became the second Japanese woman to summit Everest after Junko Tabei ( who was the first woman EVER on top) and became the oldest ( 47 yo) woman in the world to summit the Everest at that moment. 4 hours after that she was dead but still had it.
Scott and anatoli were the 2 strongest climbers on the planet at the time, that’s why they are great “climbing friends”. Both had had climbed evertest & K2 without oxygen, they had very similar meter per hour climbing rates. Ed often sites Scott as one of the strongest climbers he ever met, he said Scott wasan aerobic animal.
I watch Everest 2015 yesterday but I cried until today... I pity Rob 😔😔 his last word with his wife " Sleep Well Sweetheart, Please Don't think too much " this word made me cry so bad 😔😔😔 and than he died with froze 😔😔
Loved the movie before reading Into Thin Air, loved it after. It really feels like you're there. But I wasn't happy about some of it and felt the film was too short. Scott Fisher sorta came across looking like a hippie addict. The truth is he pushed himself too hard and had a bad stomach ailment that had been bothering him for years. It seems like he should have been more strict with how he ran things, but he wasn't as experienced in guiding as Rob and after nearly dying 5 times on a mountain, probably felt a bit invincible at that point. But yeah I'm not here to blame anyone. There were so many little factors that contributed. You see this with many disaster, the Titanic disaster even. Having so many people on a mountain, so many not very experienced climbers, a storm at the worst time, and so much pressure to get people to the top because you have a journalist and another climber basically broadcasting live from Everest, it creates a really risky go for broke situation. Not even a year after the Everest tragedy, 2 more of the climbers (guides) died climbing. Boukereev and Lopsang, the strongest climbers on that mountain in 1996. People don't live long on mountains.
Kenneth Murphy right. EVERY mountain expedition video, or summit climb I watch - there is obligatory comments about the sherpas, and the lack of respect for the feats they accomplish. I mean, it should be OBVIOUS, that they are superior mountaineers. No need to constantly drive that point home. I'm with ya on this.
@@sleepbetraysme You don't see a problem with glorification of these rich selfish westerners because they carried 25kg up the mountain, while their Sherpa goes up and down the mountain 15 times during the same trip carrying 75kg each time. The rich westerner risks the lives of local poor Sherpas, and get even richer by selling speech engagements, are celebrated as heros by the media and movies are made about them. The problem is not that Sherpas are not given credit. It's that for many people it's immoral to even go on the climb, especially the rich inexperienced dentists. They are risking the lives of poor Sherpas and potentially ruin their families, if they succeed they are glorified for doing 10% of the work. After every expedition I want the Sherpa to give the Ted talk & cash in for the fame, not the rich dude that effectively got carried.
This looks like a really shortened version of the actual interview. It looked like they just cut his answer off after that sentence for some reason. These daytime talk show interviews are the worst. You can tell the interviewers couldn't care less about anyone they talk to, as they are horrible at masking the fact that it's just their job and they have generic questions on cards.
Another case pf greed and ignorance on Rob and Scott's part...Taking people up there that didn't have the experience needed to complete the climb on their own... And then pride enters the equation... By dying due to the bad choices made for money...They all found out unfortunately...That money wasn't buying them any favors up in the dead zone...A shame about Charlotte Fox... falling down her stairs, at home...and dying at the bottom of her stairway...You just never know when fate will throw a couple aces on the table... Have a great day and stay safe.
I was crying at the woman who reached all 7 summits... She did what her dream was but sadly died on the way back down to camp
it does not count if you don't get back down
She said arigatou

never ceases to amaze me how the sherpas are conveniently omitted and the only people of consequence are the climbers
Yeah I wished the director had portrayed their side
That struck me too!
As if the sherpas aren't climbers too
Jake Gyllenhaal thinks Scott Fischer was the strongest climber on the mountain in 1996, when Anatoli Boukreev and Ed Viesturs were there too.

Lopsang jangbu was the best
I feel like there is only jake in this interview, becouse she keeps make questions only for him.
I just watched this movie and I was crying for 30 mins 😭 so sad
Incredible movie. Like The Perfect Storm, I watched it over & over. Something about man vs nature, and the test of human character/will.
Great movie!!! I should have seen it in 3D, but missed out, not to mention Josh Brolin is pure heavenly. !!
Jason Clarke didn’t even say anything

Why wasn't Sam Worthington interviewed ?????
Bit part.
(Insert comment here about how stupid the climbers were or how Sherpas never get credit)

Love this.
same
+Ella Bleu And it's true! Indeed, the grueling hardships of filming the dramatization of the 1996 Everest disaster.
This didn’t explain what they did to film this ?
I think that question in 2:45 was really strange.
Jason with blonde hair 😻
Where in the movie is Rollo??
jason is best😻😻😻😻😻😻😻
The Russian was by far the strongest climber on that mountain that day. No offense Jake. 😁
2:35 -- I love Michael Kelly -- but that's nowhere near an answer to the question the interviewer asked!

I checked the tape, and yes, you are right. Terrible edit.
bet he not saying that now...
people dont realize that Rob Hall and Fischer also are doing this for a living.
