In conversation with Prof. Makarand R Paranjape, author, and academician, and Sudheendra Kulkarni, author & socio-political activist, about 'Excavating the past: India's History: Change or Continuity?'. The session was chaired by veteran journalist Vir Sanghvi.

Mr Kulkarni, you are being preposterous in suggesting that Hindus are blaming current Muslims for the devastation their ancestors caused to Hindu civilization!!!! All that Hindus want is reconciliation and unequivocal condemnation by Muslims of the acts of their ancestors. Mr Kilkarni repeatedly tried portraying BJP and Modi in poor light when infact it’s because of Modi that the elephant in the room has been addressed and discussed so openly for the first time in the history of post independent India!!!
Well then stop blaming todays brahmins for caste discrimination as today's generation is not responsible for what happen in past.

First of all when you say it is India's innate quality to imbibe and accept all people, what you really mean is the Hindu philosophy that is all accepting and accomodating.
Second, Bahadur Shah majority of Muslim rulers had more loyalty towards the Caliph and Ummah than toward India.
This trend is seen even amongst today's Muslims who will always put the Quran before the Constitution and feel more loyal toward Islam than India.
Third, Bahadur Shah didn't fight for India's independence. He was fighting for his own crown. Do you think he would have given the people the right to vote had he been successful in repelling the British?
If you say that Bahadur Shah did fight for his crown, then what about Laxmi Bai, Naana Saheb, Tantia Tope.
This Kulkarni is pseudo secularist and became worst than a typical Congi. Why should retain the names of likes of Auranzeb like jihadists to rake up bad memories of past.

When i was kid, i was fan of mr. Kulkarni. Now i am adult, and now i Am superfan of mr. Makarand
Mr. Kulkarni speaks more like politicians with little scholarship . Prof Paranjape is more eloquent with lot of scholarship.
Here's the fundamental logic folly in Sudheendra's argument: Without excavating, how do you study "history"? Moreover, history is not about Babur or Zafar, it is about the common man. I really think it's quite shallow when panelists refer to popular figures to generalize ideas rather the lives of common men during those times.

He talks of integral humanism as basis to reconcile bharatiya culture with nationalism, socialism, democracy and world peace. Can he preach this to the muslim community, who unfortunately are not minority but number a huge 25 crores , the largest Muslim population in the world. They clearly disown bharatiya culture. But whatever be the culture they claim, can they reconcike with humanity and nationalism? Their book tells them kafirs don't deserve to live; that their allegiance is to ummat and not nation
Can they ever agree to culture that is dynamic in tune with the times? They swear everything to be said of life and culture is written in stone in Quran, hadees and shariya. There is nothing to change except convert kafirs to islam or wipe them off the face of earth.
Can Sudhheendra deny that today it is only in Islam religion that the clergy hold absolute power over the life and action of the followers on pain of death oe social boycott. And , it is only the clergy who decide life has to remain in Frozen in the midieval arab social mores, no matter which century and which country they live.

In final wrap up as Dr Paranjape argued with humble facts and logic Veer Sanghvi has got slap on his face by Mr Kulkarni. Off course Umlema must come forward to condemn Islamic Vandalism in past. And Veer last moment irritation was reflected on his face. Why sd always be hindu held responsible for secularism?? Dr. Paranjape has a billion dollars question. And a tight slap to Veer.

You will reach a position when you have ZERO in your hand. Think in another way that all are human beings and the invaders who invaded the Indian subcontinent and also the plunders who took lots of things from India they were living in those times where such type of things are common especially in the western part of the world. All the monuments whether they are mosques or temples or church or any other thing are the evidence of the past and also the memories of those times. So we have to place those things as remain they are and should work according to the present situation and scenario.
