    🎉 I finally hit over 200,000 suscribers on TH-cam 🎉
    I couldn't have come this far without your support. Thank you so much 💕
    I actually started my channel because a few students reached out to me telling me that they couldn't afford Japanese lessons. My mum raised me alone and we were pretty poor so I really understood the struggle of not being able to afford lessons. So I wanted to create something that can help everyone learn Japanese for free.
    Now thanks to Patreon and everyone's support I can proudly say I teach Japanese on TH-cam as my full-time job.
    Becoming a Japanese teacher has always been my dream (besides being Sailor Moon and Pokemon trainer of course 😋) but being able to help so many people (200k people?!) is so much better than what I could have done in any other ways. So thank you so so much. I love you all ❤️❤️

    I actually started learning japanese about 10 months ago and came across two channels, one of which was yours. At first I thought it was impossible and wanted to give up a lot of times because I took it too seriously and stressed out too much, but then I thought of the lessons and how many japanese friends I made on VRC despite the fact that my japanese was horrible at that time. I thought "If I give up now it feels like I'm abandoning everything", now, 9-10 months later, I'm slowly working towards the N2 level.
    Without your videos it would have been impossible, because I like studying in detail, so thanks a lot~
    PS: For anyone else feeling stressed and slowly giving up, take a break for a day or two and come back to the topic you were stuck on. It will suddenly be much clearer. If you feel like you are improving too slowly, don't be shy and try to use japanese as much as possible. When you see japanese text, read it out loud. When you shower or clean and are thinking about things, try to think about it in japanese and afterwards look up the words or grammar that you didn't know. Don't just study randomly, study especially the things you need at the moment, it's much more efficient. And maybe think about becoming a patreon for extra content ;)

    What a great teacher!! Some of these phrases I already knew, but your explanations were very helpful in understanding the language further. I also didn't know about the omissions for everyday speaking. These are things I found to be lacking in other lessons. So I'm glad you make it important for learners to understand the nuances of the language instead of just giving word for word translations like I usually see. Ah. Your comments about “こんにちわ”made me laugh because misspelling is rampant in native English speakers as well. When people don’t know whether (weather) to use their, there, or they’re. I remind myself of this when I FREAK OUT about not wanting to make mistakes learning other languages. I would freeze speaking Spanish because I’d be so scared of conjugating something incorrectly 😳🤦🏻‍♀️ We should all relax and have fun! If we get too stressed about it, we won’t make any progress at all!

      @cold-fire 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sic1809 Hey, thanks for asking! Long story short: I need to stop slacking and study more kanji. That's the biggest thing holding me back. Hiragana, katakana, and basic grammar and conversational phrases are not too much trouble anymore (I still get tripped up sometimes with easy things like when to use は and が ). I also immersed myself in Japanese media and look up words or phrases I hear that I feel like I should know, either because they're commonly used or they seem useful. That also helped me get used to hearing what the language sounds like so I can get the pitch accents correct.
      But yeah, it's been a while since I've properly sat down and studied, so that needs to happen again soon, and I've got a bunch of Misa's videos in a playlist that are waiting for me. That moment when you hear or read something in Japanese and you're like, "Wait! I understood that!" is really satisfying and makes me want to keep going.

    For me, it would be very interesting to know what a wrong particle does in the ears of a nativ japanese speaker. I mean if u understand why it's nonsense, you understand how it works. Perhaps could be worth for a own video, "Messing around with particles" :-)

    I love Misa’s videos so much. The way she explains every detail, uses colour coded Hiragana AND romaji, talks slowly, repeats everything in different ways, and her soothing voice. Ticks all my learning style boxes. Thank you Misa!

    • @MarkHogan994
      @MarkHogan994 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "A lesson" ? Singular ? Lmao. Probably need like 30 lessons for keigo, at a minimum. And they better be long lessons as well. You can barely dip your toe in with one lesson. Furthermore, Misa's last video before this one actually *was* an introduction to keigo. Make sure to always check what's already on the channel, it was uploaded like 10 days ago.

    I heard some japanese several times and I kind of figured out wa is used after a subject and wo is after an object, and this video clarified everything for me, and tbh japanese is way easier than english (only speaking wise xD), cause oh god those kanji, and english is much harder to pronounce the words ( you have to hear them first) and a lot of times english just doesn't make sense.

    You blew my mind a bit with that こんにちは being 今日は。I've learned those kanji before but the reading didn't click in my mind. A short google search says its more common to write the greeting in hiragana so it doesn't confuse people.

    This was such a clear and easy to follow video, and I appreciate all the hard work that goes into the on screen writing, with all the different elements clearly pointed out so you can follow along. I loved finding out the origin of konnichiwa as well because it was interesting as well as useful in remembering to use ha not wa. I look forward to watching more videos from the archive as I improve. Arigato gozaimasu!

    Certain things like こんにちは being spelled with the HA, a foreigner may not even realize is wrong because I have seen a app teach it wrong with the WA before and it really wasn't something I thought about.
    This is why it is much better learning from someone like yourself.
