thrilled ya like it!!!! thanks buddy for the comment
Much appreciated Chris! Always jump on what your doing. Hope you never get tired of teaching!
any i very much appreciate the comment! thankyou!!
I can't believe it has taken me so long to find this video. The rhythm guitar is the hardest instrument to hear in most tracks and taught the least past the basics. Excellent!!!
Thanks! First I’ve heard someone say that in all this time!! Bluegrass folk seem consumed on playin the same fiddle tunes over and over - that style of rhythm is gold
@@chrisbrennanguitar See you at the Cantab!
Great video. This is the best explanation I have ever seen for Tony's content.
Thank you for that!!! Have you seen my other tutorials?
Beautiful work.
thanks Craig!!!!
Fair play man, I liked the video before I even watched it cause I knew it was gonna be as good as it was!

Yes, it’s awesome!!!
Excellenter vidéo et excellent guitariste. Merci, Monsieur.
Thanks so much for watchin this one !!
Nicely done👍
thanks again chief
I'm always looking for this type of lesson. I like the rythm more than the solos in bluegrass.
Bang on Steve - the most important things always get overlooked
Awsome teaching once again, really hope people sometimes donate for this channel
your a legend for sure!! thanks for that chief!!!!!!!!
Although I've seen a bunch of Tony Rice solos taught around here, I've never seen a rhythm guitar lesson -- which is something I've long hoped to find. Very well-done . . . so much so that I just subscribed, so as not to miss anything else you have to teach. Many thanks!
thanks chief! rhythm is 95 percent of what we do its just doesn't get the clicks on youtube like "play 5 licks" does
@@chrisbrennanguitar When I read that Rice said he enjoys playing rhythm as much as he does lead, I started listening more closely to what he played behind other people's solos, and was properly blown away. Although I'm still pretty much a "boom-chuck" guy, and don't yet have the ears to hear all he can do, TR raised the bar, and his recordings continue to inspire and challenge me to improve. Your video was truly helpful and insightful.
excellent work man you need more subscribers I hope you get them.
thanks again Randy - workin on it anyway
Enjoy your vids and voice. Still waiting on my relaxing voice tape for sleep.
Thanks Pam -i guess i will need to get around to that sleep video - what about the subject matter for it? the counting sheep thing has been done to death surely?
Just incredible! Big respect from St. John's Newfoundland. This is deep in the advanced box. I'm searching for some intermediate rhythmic articulations as heard on the Scruggs and Rice album. Cheers Chris!
Very cool!!! Cheerz buddy !! Not many took notice of this video - I think rhythm gets overlooked too much - no one wants to learn Tony’s either
@@chrisbrennanguitar True! Everyone wants the hot licks.
If you ever sell a copy of your transcription of Church Street Blues album I have some extra money right now!😉
Same here!
Thanks
cheerz bud!
We all need more about tony rice style!
i'll do what i can Alejandro ! cheerz buddy
👏👏👏
Hi, Chris! Great stuff!! Could you provide the tabs for this lesson ? (It could be on your store or on your patreon). This was a really dense lesson.
Holy crap that's nuts
Thanks for findin that vid! Wasn’t easy
Yes very advanced music to play
👋 Hello I'm a new subscriber. Please know that i am just a music lover. I've always wanted to learn how to play guitar. I am watxhing your video already gave it a thumbs up. Even though i have no clue what your talking about. It's all Chinese to me. I am just a dreamer guitar player. LOL
we're all dreamers Jacqueline! welcome aboard!!! and thanks !!
Very great ! ! What sound ! What pick do you use ? Thank you very much. Mathieu, a french fan!
Excellent tutorial Chris! Great playing and instruction. I'm curious, what kind of guitar pick you're using (what material if it's made by a company and thickness if you know), also what kind of mic and even the reverb (is it a plug in?). And is that a Santa Cruz Tony Rice model guitar? Brazilian or Indian Rosewood? Your tone is so close to Tony's, it's amazing. Especially on Go My Way, one of my favorite tunes from Tony (and Gordon Lightfoot). Sounded just like Tony's recording. I'm a big fan of Tonys and have always wished there were ways we could hear his guitar isolated to study his unique rhythm playing so I was very happy to see your video here. Keep up the excellent playing and videos, thanks!
primetone triangle pick, 1.4 or 1.5.. one sm57 mic, guitar is a sigma- strings are Santa Cruz Parabolic Mid Tension which are amazing!! reverb added after with lexicon #santacruzguitarcompany
@@chrisbrennanguitar Thanks for the reply and info. And thank you for making such great videos on Tonys playing.
Lesson of Gold Rush please:)
Hey Chris!
Thanks for all these great videos! I'd love to be able to follow this but my guitar playing isn't up to scratch. I'm a proficient lead blues/rock player so I'm no beginner, I just think need more of a primer course so I can work my way up to Tony Rice/Chris Brennan style.
My question is, how would you describe his style/technique? i.e. Should I buy some lessons on beginners flatpicking? Or is it something else?
Hope you can help and thanks again sir!
hey john !! i do online skype lessons! contact for more info!!
I’d like to see how Tony plays the rhythm on Pain In My Heart. It’s hard to hear what he’s doing.
Always hard to hear it - I’ll check that tune out!!
Full chords for Neon Tetra? You panned to your right hand for the lot of the play through
Chords on that riff were F#min G#min to C#min - very cool intro be Tony !! THANKYOU
@@chrisbrennanguitar Thank you!
@@zachsav3235 cheerz bud!
Hey friend, thanks so much for the video. I would really appreciate if you could also do a solo visual/playback of Neon Tetra. Would be fantastic. (I'd be happy to pay you, if requested. Meantime got my like and subscribe.) Thanks
Hey bud!! Thanks !! Not sure what you mean about a playback - Contact Christopherbrennan@hotmail.co.uk
@@chrisbrennanguitar Just a cover of Neon Tetra with guitar visual.

@@chrisbrennanguitar Thank you. You are an amazing player by the way 🤯
@@Steve-si8hx thanks Steve !! Plenty of videos up here on this channel!! Have a look around
What kind of pick do you use?
Dunlop primetone 1.5 on acoustic
CHRIS BRENNAN ok thanks! I’ll give it a try. Btw, could you do a lesson on those tribute tony rice/riceology videos?
What guitar is this!? 😍
SIGMA (by martin - Korea)
Watching this I feel like a guy who is barely past basic arithmetic trying to figure out Albert Einstein.
thanks mark! keep watchin til it makes sense!!
I thought the same exact thing!
I’m just here to enjoy some good playing. NO expectation to ever play songs needing this much skill
I recently got into Tony Hill and I must say, I’ve not heard a better composer on guitar. That’s why I’ve now moved him into my upper echelon guitar players. He is so special. What more musical guitar player has ever existed.
Chops galore but I listen to him for songs and composition. Many progressive chop heavy guitar players featured in you tube videos I check out much of the time for technical circus they provide. I watch them to experience the awe of technical skill. I listen to Tony Hill because his songs just take you places no other guitar players does. Music so beautiful creative and I believe totally unique.
