I actually enjoyed that review very much! Would have loved a deeper insight what specific points and where it goes to far of the grid to much. But in general I like your diplomatic approach on discussing the series :)
Thank you so much! I was definitely trying to be diplomatic 😂 But the specific points are maybe too small and too many to list. Thank you for the vote of confidence!
i don't know if i agree with knowing were characters end up hurts the series so much. The journey is more important than the destination. In many stories you do know that the good guys are gonna win in the end, you just dont know how. There is also plenty of stories with "the chosen one"-archetypes and prophecies and such. Even stories that reveal the ending in a prophecy can be interesting.
Also, i agree with you with the unnecessary violence in RoP. But i dont really see your point with Peter Jacksons movies, they definietly dont linger on blood and gore. The head chop on the mouth of sauron is basically the only such scene, and its like a 2 second scene.
Well…yes I suppose I had some difficulty describing my opinion on that front. You’re right-though I still think prequels have to tread carefully, as it’s hard to add context or growth to a character who’s already been “finished” in the original story.
As for the violence, while I take no issue with anyone who likes Jackson’s movies (I mean, I do too, don’t get me wrong), I think the preference of violence over mercy is systemic throughout the movies. Gollum is pushed into Mt. Doom instead of slipping. Denethor is kicked onto the pyre… And so on. 🤷♂️

When I heard "I'm not referring to Peter Jackson", I instantly pressed Like
