I'm a West virginian. I have camped at droop mountain when I was a child, we used to do living historys of the civil war. It was definitely a location that stuck out in my memory, the nights were strange, you could just feel something.

I asked my dad if he heard it and he didn't so I hummed the tune for him. He looked completely shocked and said that sounded like a Patsy Cline song. Apparently, wherever we were wasn't too far from from the wv/va state border around Winchester, which is where she is from. To my knowledge, I had never heard her music before, but I liked it. It was definitely calming and fit the beautiful summer day so well.

I live 10 minutes from point pleasant, my cousin runs the “mothman museum” and I’ve spent a lot of time in the TNT munitions land. Still extremely creepy through the night in that area, but that might be because of my families stories. Well worth the trip to experience the small town myth that truly has the whole town slightly obsessed.... especially during the mothman festival!!

Mamie Thurman's ghost is real. West Virginian all my life, and I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is. She doesn't have any ill intent, even if you curse her or tell her to go away. She won't leave though. The only way to get her to leave is by driving the full length of 22 Mine Road. Once you see her though, you'll never see her again. The other part to the story is that she pulls your car uphill when you park it, but that's an optical illusion. everything around that specific spot on the road is tilted upward, so it looks like your car is level, but it's actually on about a 3 or 4 degree tilt backwards. Mamie is real though, and I'm very glad she doesn't do any harm.
I have been in West Virginia all my life, and I love it. A couple years ago, I went to Droop Mountain, not knowing that it was haunted with the ghost of soldiers, I took a picture of the building there, and in the top of the building. There was a man staring at me, as I took the picture, he turned around and just, disappeared.
You're forgetting that mothman was also apparently seen at many other troubling disasters (Chernobyl being one example I can think of) which adds more to its lore.

A couple years ago, I went to Droop Mountain, not knowing that it was haunted with the ghost of soldiers, I took a picture of the building there, and in the top of the building. There was a man staring at me, as I took the picture, he turned around and just, disappeared.
