I really like your videos. You have a great understanding of Korean culture, something I consistently don't see in other videos. I got married in South Korea and my wife is South Korean, and I have spent a lot of time trying to learn the culture (even if I'm still not so good at the language); she is from Jeonnam. You are not like a lot of other expats that come to South Korea and make videos. You are refreshing to listen because you are not someone who took the expectations of their culture (U.K. culture in your case) with them.
Thanks a lot mate! I guess 9 years here has helped me adjust. There are, of course, things that I wish were done differently here, but everyone will have these gripes. And that's cool, I've never been to Jeonnam! But you must be living an interesting life. Multicultural marriages are one heck of an adventure!

Koreans as a generality tend to covet white skin; growing up other Koreans frequently told my wife her skin tone was to dark and even to dirty looking. She was surprised when she discovered that in Canada her skin tone was envied and only got compliments; she didn't even believe me when I told her this would be the case. I was told this stemmed from an ancient practice of when the wealthy, like the Japanese I do believe, whitened their complexion with makeup. This became a standard of beauty. Do you know if is this accurate?
Unfortunately, yes, Korean society tends to favour lighter skin when it comes to beauty standards, because of this many westerners are put on a pedestal.
I really miss Korea, and Gwangalli Beach that I frequented, my favorite was watching the fireworks festival and eating eel in one of the restaurants at the end of the beach. Subscribed.
