I saw Mr Freeman as 'The Phantom' in London and could not have been more fortunate in seeing the perfect performance of this musical, in which Mr Freeman's operatic training was definitely evident. Many thanks, Mr Freeman; opera's loss certainly has been our gain! Perhaps Elizabeth failed to take off because it was, in some ways, a Teutonic version of Evita? May I ask, by the way, whether Mr Freeman lives in Germany, or elsewhere in Europe?
He lives in Germany. Elisabeth did become a success because the audience loved it, a bit like what happened to Les Miserables. It's been performed in many countries and is the most successful non English musical in history💖
@@behindthemirrorofmusic4351 Thank you for your kind reply, and apologies for my ignorance re 'Elisabeth'; I've found the Empress a fascinating, if flawed, person ever since I visited Vienna some years ago, and would love to have seen the English version of the show.
I’m glad this is up on TH-cam, I completely missed the stream for this!
👏👏🎶🎵Well done!!👍🎵🎶
