Wyatt -- This is something new for you, branching out into a bit of interviewing. I'm glad you're interested in the history of the music you play. Keep on exploring and gaining new experiences
A favorite saying I have is “If you want to know where you’re going, it helps to know where you’ve been!” Glad to see your interest in Billmon’s history has grown into learning about the history of the lands that y’all grew up in- and how the music of the local folks came to be. My parents were music lovers and listened to classical, jazz (we lived in Harlem when I was born) and folk music- the Weavers w/ Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger - my introduction to banjo- we had a few of Pete’s 9:479:47 records that I pretty much wore the grooves off of but I was probably already in high school before I started to listen to bluegrass and Earl’s three finger style (well, tbh there was the theme to “Beverly Hillbillies “ TV show and a bit of “Hee-Haw” that “planted the seeds”). Home-grown music and history go together like PB &J - it’s pretty cool to be able to enjoy AND make both! Bon voyage!
Such an interesting video! Good job Wyatt. It’s really great to see the history as well as the tunes being kept alive.
How cool is this?!?! I think it's really awesome!
