Another entertaining video - your wife is a real gem to support you in this. I'm old enough to remember Tim Horton when he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL - number 7 I believe. I also remember when he opened a doughnut shop named after himself and thinking how stupid. It has since grown into a giant chain so it just goes to show what do I know. I'm really surprised to see one in the UK. Unfortunately, Tim Horton was killed in a car accident before the business really took off.
She’s an absolute superstar, the videos wouldn’t be possible without her support! Well you learn something new every day I honestly had no idea who Tim Horton was… it’s the first time we have been as there isn’t one local to us, I think there are just a handful of them in the north of the uk 🤷♂️ but the rocket tells me it’s a massive chain.
It was body and bike survival so well done on your result. Way too techy for me, even the B lines were tricky....and the A lines are even scarier as a grand vet ! Good vid.
awesome vlog and result, nail those technical skills GC and get some confidence in - there were some nice features on that course! shame about the chain but hey ho, still done good in the mud and the result at the end. Think Ben gets the style points though! Doughnuts and service station food - proper mtb nutrition - should have had beer and pizza when you got home too :) well done
Got some practice to do now and hopefully when I race there again in July I will have the confidence to take on the a lines 👌 This youngsters are always added in the style I’m too tired to even try 😂 An athletes diet 😬 next time the pizza as well… it was straight home and to bed after another long drive 😅
When I raced Elite I had to try and ride the scary bits blind as the more I looked at them the steeper and rockier they became. Following someone also helped me, even when they take you over the A line with a big gap jump. I’m too old now to risk injuries so stick to gravel, road and cross. Some skills coaching helped a bit but more useful was having someone to talk you through the lines and give you confidence in your own abilities.
Yeah I definitely scared myself away from the a lines by looking at them 😅 for sure when I head back in July I will do the practice lap with my brother who is really good technically so can help me with the lines this time 🤞
Well done. That was sticky looking mud. Dont push yourself on the a-line until you feel confident. A lot of very good riders coming into mtb struggle with the technical skills
Some sections the mud was horrible, I can’t wait for it to dry out a bit! I have a bit of a mental block on the technical sections but with some practice hopefully something I can overcome 🤞
Brutal course, we are back there in July so got some work to do before then 😅 The b lines were definitely slower at this race but a hell of a lot easier for me anyway 😂
So … your business plan needs to include Rockets Donut Reviews. It’s 8.10 am and I am now raving a donut. Someone needs to sign up the rocket. PS 3rd is a great result. PPS you should come and ride the cross at Tong if you want a bit of a Namur vibe.
Donut reviews is definitely something the rocket would be more than happy to get on board with 😂 ahh yes we will definitely make the trip for tong if we are free… I’m assuming all the drops will be taken out of the course 😂
Great result Giorgio,. .... that course did look particularly nasty in those wet conditions. Better check out my local Tim Hortons after seeing the consumption of all those doughnuts.😁🍩🥴
Hadn’t thought about what narrow-wide chainrings are like in very muddy stuff. Wonder if it’s worth switching to a “normal” ring when it’s like that? Anyway, absolutely fantastic result given the mechanical issues and how you felt about the tech stuff
I’m hoping conditions won’t be a problem again… mtb is meant to be a summer sport 🤔 but I think a chain guide could solve the problem but if not maybe you’re right about switching chainrings 🤷♂️
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling I use to live in the South East, regularly rode the Gorrick XC events and then I moved to the Tweed Valley in Scotland. After a couple of years of struggling, lots of falling off and even more walking down ‘trails’ I did some training. I can literally get down anything now, even ride the DH trails here at night.
@@br5380 👌 a lot of mine I think is confidence, I broke my hand 2 years ago on a drop during a race and since then I have lost all confidence. It’s always on my head when riding which isn’t ideal 😅 more practice will definitely help though!
35 Seconds in.....That hair. Just have to hit them A lines next time in practice, speed and blind confidence - rodeo them to the bottom(then decide B lines....LOL) Great to see you guys again - will bring you some snacks next time. 🤣🤣
Knew I should of cut the hair bit 😂 going to do a fair bit of technical practice before the next race at tong so hopefully the a lines will be fine 🤞 good to see you too!
STOP eating those do-noughts on camera!! can’t take it😩well done both smashed it again, 3rd place in that lot is a great result, I’d watch it though George Sarah’s starting to steal your thunder, her fan base is growing😀
😂😂 can’t be to disappointed with the result but if I can piece everything together it should be much better 🤞 she’s got a way bigger fan base than me, I’m just the guy that talks rubbish on camera 😜😂
Nice commentary of the day. Would've liked more lingering video of the features so can really get a sense of them or even better yet a video of someone riding off them! Well done on the race, looked a b*****!
Really hard to do it justice on the camera as it makes everything look pretty flat… will hopefully get more footage of riders tackling the features at future races but it’s always hard to get footage with trying to prepare to race myself 👌
3rd, get a 2 chainring set up so you can get the chain shipped back on. What was the issue? Bent ring, damaged link or just blocked with mud? Hah, back to 8 speed with triple rings mate 😂
Just way to much mud in the chain and trying to clean it with my water bottle wasn’t easy, especially when hr is high but hopefully that’s the last muddy race 🤞
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling never really a problem with 7 and 8 speed , maybe something to weigh up in the cross season, have a more basic spare bike if you are running 11 speed and the race is likely to be a mudbath. Super narrow chains, probably designed in a hot dry mud free country 😄 Sturmey Archer 3 speed... the future of mtb in the UK.
Another belting video mate. Cracking result there too. Your channel is brilliant, seeing you move up on cx and now xc racing is inspiring to watch.
Thanks Stuart massively appreciate it 🙌 hopefully an even better result in 2 weeks time at round 2 🤞
Nice job on the rock section.
Thanks definitely got some work to do though as that was the b line 😅
Looking good George, and great result!!
🙌
I'll go to bed dreaming of donuts tonight 😂😋😋. Great result Giorgio in difficult conditions. 👊
Hope you didn’t wake up to hungry 😂 thanks appreciate it 🙌

Thank you 😃 and it was scary 😂

Very true, and your not the only one I found the b lines just as hard! Time to get over my fear before I go back in July 😅
😂 Your hair at the start! Ben having a wee against a tree! Embarrassing 😳
Great rides for you and Ben! Win next for both of you 🚴♂️🚴♂️
That was a good hair day as well 😜😂 thanks hopefully we can do better at round 2 🤞 well done on your results you have been flying at the crits 💪
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling thank you 😊
Well done Giorgio 👍🏻🍾✊🏼
Fantastic results for you and Ben. Congratulations! Amazing video bro. Ride On
Thank you 🙌
hell of a race G, rocket must love you she shared her doughnut :)
She certainly does, although she wasn’t happy with the size of my bite 😬😂

Omg Loving the hair.... 😂That was a mud bath!💩 Well done on third! 🥉
It’s very rarely seen in that state 😬😂 it was a complete mud bath, spent all day Sunday trying to clean it up… still finding mud a week later 😅😂

I can confirm that the best almond croissant is at Coffee & Carrot in Eastbourne. Regrettably I live 235 miles away 😢

Super tough course but the fast boys/girls made it look easy! For sure do we can definitely recommend 😂
I thought you were going to start crying when you were standing there covered in mud😂
Honestly felt like it, probably the most miserable hour of my life 😂
I got to hand it to you tho, you didn’t give up and it did pay off.
Nice job. Keep it up and you will be bouncing off the big boys👍

😬😂
I've done xc running race around this venue and the camera doesnt do those drops justice, It looks like a great dry day route though 👍
100% it makes everything look flat! I’m back racing there in July so hopefully it’s dry 🤞
And a day spent on a skills course will be the best money you've ever spent.

Unreal eh?

Yep only a handful and they are all miles away from where we live 🥲

You need to power wash yourself. 😂
You basically cycled so hard, you broke the bike.
😂😂 the state of my kit and me after this race was awful 😅
