You all should have used Silk film to put the covers onto the cushion and use a vacuum to suck the foam down into nothing, the slide into covers, remove the vacuum and the foam reexpands again. Sailrite actually has a video on how to do this on the how to videos. You did an amazing job on the cushions!! And the boat is looking amazing!! Great job everyone!
There is no doubt you have done an incredible job bringing that boat back to life. I hope you get the satisfaction of 'i made that' every time you sit on a cushion.
Fantastic work! Those cushion covers are really complicated and a huge job even if you are experienced. Really impressed. Well done! Love the piping too.
From someone who has spent half my life at a sewing machine, tackling those cushions was BRAVE as a first big project ( especially using very expensive fabric!) I like the piping a lot. One of the most appealing aspects of the human eye is contrast - it draws us in without conscious thought. My grandmother's favorite saying was "some people never find time to do it right the first time, but they always find time to do it over". Your mind is always your best tool when building and creating :) As someone once said "measure thrice, cut once" and it's evident you guys measured, made notes, and cut carefully before jumping in with both feet. Getting organized and staying organized is life skill you guys have in spades! BTW, I have used dry cleaning bags to stuff pillows/cushions in the past and once you get it in there, these bags can be torn and pulled out. I did see some other similar suggestions, but it looks like you got them all in there already (although I suspect not without sore and scuffed up knuckles :) Bravo getting moved onto the boat and what some viewers may not realize, during the 922 days, you were not only working on the Leopard, but putting the finishing touches on the first boat (Lagoon) before it was sold. At this point you must now be sure that the light at the end of the tunnel is NOT an oncoming train, but the finish line which is now in sight! Bravo to all 4 of you.
Kim, A+ on the piping! I am a sewest/quilter/seamtress/everything to do with fabric for over 55 years, I can say you did awesome!! Happy Sewing🪡 and sailing!
While it's tormenting you just repeat the words; It's a process. What you have accomplished is amazing. The cushions are great but a little uspholsterers tip for stuffing is Silicone Spray that will make them slide right in. Relaxation and sailing is not that far off. Cheers
I've been watching this on youtube for a long time. It's been very enjoyable to watch Sid, as he is very talented in fixing things. However after a year or two it's time to sail the boat or get off the pot. Sail it or sell it and buy one that works...
It appeared to some “open” bottles of wine that may need to be consumed to help the tiredness be relieved. Maybe not until about 7:30ish pm though, otherwise you won’t get “back to work”, Mike Patey’s coined phrase.
Wow! Just Wow! Those cushions - honestly, amazeballs! And Ty? Piping? Seriously?!?! It hurts my butt just looking at it ;) Super excited for you guys to be onboard and continuing to move forward!
Awesome, great meeting y’all at the boat show!!! Y’all have reaffirmed your high standards and good taste…. The jar of “JIFF” peanut butter didn’t go unnoticed!!!
I wonder if there is a way to build an pre-ionization detector on a mast that signals an imminent lightning strike that could be used to trigger breakers to turn off and isolate the electrical systems on a boat.
@@SailingDauntless Lets say there was a thunderstorm, assume you knew the boat was getting struck by lighting. Is there anything you could do by shutting off the electrical system to avoid damage? What if you had breakers on both the positive AND negative side of the systems?
A car that is running gets more work to it done faster. A boat you are living on gets more work done to it faster. You have too much stuff and places to put it. Magic 8-Ball says that will change soon enough.
Stuffing cushions is so much easier with the plastic silk, and we have never noticed any problems with it as far as sweating. You can also pull it out if you really don't want to have it in there. Fortunately for my wife (who has lots sewing experience), I do not like the look of piping. [My wife feels your pain]
Tools were the easy part, we had a construction company for 22yrs. The boat new is $1.4M before upgrades and there is no way we could ever afford that.
The piping is actually considered as actually called courting been doing a policy for 35 years believe me and really really in a modern style boat we don't do play music catches all the undo filth and skin tags and everything else that comes off you

WOW what a tremendous achievement, you should be so proud
Fantastic work! Those cushion covers are really complicated and a huge job even if you are experienced. Really impressed. Well done! Love the piping too.
Kim the cushions look very professional
Well done bringing the boat back to life. Boy do you need to declutter!!!!!
Kay and I really like the piping on the cushions. We are impressed that Kim did that without a lot of practice. Well done.
Agreed. Excellent work on the piping, Kim!❤
My gosh, Kim! I have sewn for years and years and would have been very overwhelmed with making those cushions!!! They are beautiful!!!
The cushions and piping look fantastic!

piping looks great!!! I have sewn cushions with piping myself. I know the added effort that took. The result was worth the effort .
Cushions fitted a treat ,designer grade with the piping.
Great job! I know, because my dad sewed vinyl cushions, with piping, for a camper conversion in 1971.
I thought Colin from Parlay was a badass for rebuilding that 450... but you... you are an effing legend...
That means a lot❤️ thank you!!

Great job on the sewing job looks great
Kim, the piping is AWESOME!!!!
Agreed!
We put cushions under the berth mattresses if they fit. You might check.
Looking encouraging, really starting to see an end in sight ... woo hoo!
Wow! Incredible job on the sewing!
Thank you! 😊
Awesome job....im impressed. Fingers must hurt like hell after that job....
Kim! Credit where it's due; you killed those cushions. Congrats on a job very well done!
Awesome Kim!!!
Congratulations,your home
Fair winds ⛵️

Amazing job with the covers!
Great progress and a big step... for the coffee maker ;)
👍 great job KIM, and you too TY

Awesome job Kim.
That is so huge. We got a bid that was $1000 per cushion on our boat. We said nah!
It looks great Kim 👍
Onwards and upwards Guys ❤

Ever try a garbage bag and a vacuum pump. Collapse it with the pump and put it in and unhook the pump and remove bag .
Home is where the supper bowl is 😃 or the coffee pot 🤣
Great job on the Cushions and Seat work!!
Excellent news guys, more money for the boat 8-). I was wondering where alll that wood was going..
I'd use a bag and vacuum to put them in and the plastic doubles as cushion protection preventing liquids from being saturated into it.
Miss Kim knocked it out of the park! Edit: Ben Franklin: "Three removes equal one fire." These days you could probably reduce that to two.
you are awesome, looks great.
It ain’t home if the Moccamaster isn’t there, I’m with Ty on that!😉
They look amazing....
Looks fantastic!
Looks 🎉 fantastic well done
Looks beautiful 😎
Thanks for the loan of the shop Syd and Mike!
👍👍👍👍GREAT JOB
Amazing job on those cushions!!! (and everything else!) You are all so talented! Congratulations!
Great job on the cushions, Kim. Wish I were there 2 help U. Moving is my jam! Be well. ❤

Amazing work Kim, keep it up!
Great to see the boat is getting closer and closer to the Dream Sailing ship you hoped it could be. 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Hope you'll enjoyed the Boat Show too.
OMG
I can't remember did you get the A/C all straightened out?
Not sure if it’s too late or not but you can use trash bags to shrink the cushions to make it easier to get them in their covers. Looking awesome!
How did you find your boat
Home is where the coffee pot is?
I wonder if there is a way to build an pre-ionization detector on a mast that signals an imminent lightning strike that could be used to trigger breakers to turn off and isolate the electrical systems on a boat.
unfortunately no as the grounds/earth conductors are not on breakers and will allow current to flow

Taste the biscuit
Did she say stuffing the sausage into the cushion?!?!?!

👍✅ 🎉🥂
well a layer of plastic under your butt is great if you are incontinent 🙂
I wish people would stop blaming covid for everything from poor workmenship, poor service and just about everything people look for an excuse for.
Who has the money to buy every tool possible to refit there boat ? Why didn’t you just buy a new boat ?
Tools were the easy part, we had a construction company for 22yrs. The boat new is $1.4M before upgrades and there is no way we could ever afford that.
