I think it has to do with their camcorders....
they want to sell lots of camcorders too and thats why there was an 30 minute video limit on cameras
(and overheating on some devices after 5 minutes)
they just want to sell you as much devices as possibe and they want to be sure to have these small little upgrades each year (like smartphones) so people upgrade every 2 years...
