I met L.A. Guns back in 88', when they played Lamour in Brooklyn. I hooked up with Philip, aftre he sang to me from the stage. I remember my first impression of the band was that Riley was so, so nice. Not like the other guys, more appreciative for just being there and doing what he loved to do. As for Philip and me, he found out I wasn't Asian and dumped me. lol...RIP Riley
haha Steve is so cool, met him once, he signed my Wasp Live in the raw cd, "Wasp are cool" he said. He also said, when I commented how amazing his drum sound was on that live album "yeah thanks, we recorded that in 84"...I didnt have the heart to say...na it was in 86 =)
Steve Riley is like Peter Criss....boring, half assed drummer..but Steve is a good guy to fans...you have to pay Peter Miss to look at a fan. Steve is much like Peter in that every time he left a band or in Peter's case FIRED...the replacement was always Light years ahead better than him on drums. WASP got sooo much better when he left on drums and also he was not the first WASP drummer...wow, maybe he is like Peter Criss in that same vein as well...a huge liar.
He just contradicted himself totally, Hahahaha! He said wasp wasn't wasp anymore, just blackie and 4 other guys says the guy who is trying to keep the name LA guns. Tracy and Phil sound awesome back together. All the bullshit aside.
UGHH the first WASP was Tony Richards on drums dude?? And Stet KICKS HIS ASS on drums. OMG, boring...solid...one bass drum?? That is Riley...sorry I want more...double bass drums and someone with heart and soul, excitement for example: Eric Carr (RIP), Eric Singer, Robert Sweet, Dr. Rod Moganstein, Scott Rockenfield, etc. Life long KISS fan here and when Peter Criss came back into the band in 1996...the musicianship took a MAJOR step back in KISS.
Yes, Tony was the first WASP drummer. Unfortunately, a lot of people only know of WASP starting from the first tour so the first "touring line up" was the one that Steve just described. Stet, technically is a good drummer but he fucked around with the drum parts too much in WASP and made them sound boring as shit. As for Steve's abilities... Sweet Cheetah & Easy Living have double bass throughout the entire track. To some, he may not be the best drummer for WASP but try actually learning his parts from those WASP songs, they are not as easy as they sound. A lot of little hidden things that the average listener wouldn't pick up. Or check out his work on the Keel album, The Right to Rock. Hell, the last track on that album has double bass all over it. Learn what you're talking about before you open your mouth and maybe you won't look like a complete idiot.
I disagree highly. I LOVE absolutely LOVE..LOVE the fact that Wild Child, Animal and other WASP songs have double bass drums in them now. The songs with Stet sound heavier and more metal and really kicks ass. Double bass drums with hard rock and metal ALWAYS sounds much better because it is about aggression, not just "groove and feel." When Frank from Quiet Riot and Stet drums for WASP they always sound much better. Double bass drum is not boring, what's boring is watching the slow and not cool behid the drums style that Steve Riley mastered. Want boring? Watch Steve on drums. Sorry, when you watch Stet play and hear his attack...sorry the man is working his ass off. Also, Stet is great with the backing vocals, Steve Riley was never good t that or did he ever do that. Stet is better than him on every level as a drummer. I have been a WASP fan since sine the release of their first album. I love Johnny Rod and Banalli, but Stet and Duda and whoever on guitar is my fave line up...they bring energy and better backing vocals. If anything should change about WASP...it is their constant use of Blackie's recorded backing vocals. Sorry when they use those Blackie backing track vocals it sounds "not live" and really corny. That is the thing that should change about WASP. Stop using the taped backing track vocals...SING LIVE 24/7.
Well, Animal (I Fuck Like A Beast) has always had double bass in it. The build up section right before the second verse and the ending part after the last chorus, right before Blackie yells "ANIMAL!". You must not be a drummer because you clearly have no clue what you're talking about. When you can inject groove and feel into double bass or more intense drumming in general, it actually makes it more aggressive and more powerful than just going all out as hard as you can. Going all out, as hard as possible fits better for a Punk/Hardcore setting. Hard Rock and Metal doesn't need that 100% of the time. You have to go with the flow of how all of the parts and instruments blend together in a piece of music. As I stated in my last post, Stet is a good drummer. But I want to hear the drum parts the way they were recorded with a touch of the "new guys" playing style injected into it. Stet would completely change parts be it Tony's, Steve's, Frankie's... Sorry, but he wasn't good in WASP.
I am not a drummer, do not care to be one, I just know what I like to hear....I could care fucking LESS what you think. Steve RIley is a BORING drummer..I do not care. Again, the only ting I do not like about WASP is the Blackie recorded backing vocals that drowns out Howland and Duda singing...that is all. I DO NOT DARE ...I know the difference between a tom, a snare and a bass drum and that is all I care to know. I listen and like what I hear when it comes to double bass drum. Also, when Steve Riley played Animal..sorry, did not hear the double bass drums at all...Now from a WASP fan since their inception, actually a fan of SISTER AND CIRCUS, CIRCUS...I say FUCK YOU.
Saw Steve in 1985 when he was playing for WASP. Great drummer! R.I.P. brother!
REST IN PEACE STEVE RILEY ❤

Fellow KISS Army member...he is a solid drummer at best and yes he is a nice guy....Ace could take lessons from him.
Steve Riley is like Peter Criss....boring, half assed drummer..but Steve is a good guy to fans...you have to pay Peter Miss to look at a fan. He's a Cool Dude 🇺🇸
Good human being
Could be my friend
cool!
Steve's a beast on drums.
@EXIDEBANDENGLAND He looks way young compared to Charlie Watts.
actually if you watch that Metal show the truth came concerning the riff between Guns and Riley...at least one side.
WASP today being just Blackie, is a bit like Jethro Tull being really just Ian Anderson.
MA in the house🤘🏽
sound guy..
"How what?" Ha!
@ohjtbehaaave that was soooo funny when he said that
Wish he was still in band. Not a big fan of the new guy - dodger time keeper
LYNN RINALDO ILOVE Steve Riley, he's not an A..........HOLE likes some people LOL
is he from Mass. he sounds like this drug addict i knew lol
Yes he's from Revere, Massachusetts
cause tracci started l.a guns just like is was the first member of gnr that's why he said that cause steve is taking all the credit
He just contradicted himself totally, Hahahaha! He said wasp wasn't wasp anymore, just blackie and 4 other guys says the guy who is trying to keep the name LA guns. Tracy and Phil sound awesome back together. All the bullshit aside.

Jorge Michael from Stratovarius and Mike Terrana are by far my favorite drummers...I'm a bassist.
