Only Jack Stauber can make a song about a carton of milk make me tear up. The line "Did they laugh at you? Did you laugh with them?" gets me every time.
It's like the different songs are lessons he learns the people that ask if he is deaf are the lessons he didn't learn yet or the things he is oblivious to
First time I watched this, I thought it was silly how old lady's head was shaped like a house. but nah, that's a milk carton. she didn't disappear she expired that's why he got so emotional over the damn milk i *get* it now
Damn I was screaming when this went live. I love you jack! Edit: anyone else realise that old lady looked like milk? Its almost like the song was about her?
That's the thing? Is he a musician? He started as an animator. He's this mixed medium god among men. What we all aspire to be. He's just a step under a renaissance man and self made at that.
Jack Stauber is stylistically one of the most talented and unique artists I’ve ever encountered on the internet. I stumbled across some of his videos a couple months back and was instantly entranced by his bizarre visuals, wild emotive singing and interesting blending of stop motion animation, cartoons and computer generated graphics. What really impressed me about his newest project, SHOP: a pop opera, recently featured on adult swim, was the seamless blending of all the afore mentioned creative mediums, as well as the subject matter that he chose to write sketches and songs about. The project managed to somehow introduce several complex ideas about modern life, drugs and making decisions all while hiding under the guise of being an animated short about a man visiting the supermarket.
Imagine if this guy just says a word then stares at the product he has for the duration of the song just muttering the words so incomprehensibly people think he's some kind of drug addict
Just imagine this guy strolling around in the shop, just saying *''E X P I R E D''* and then staring at the milk for about a minute.. Edit: Bruh why does this even get any likes
why does this guy always go through an existential crisis when he goes to the grocery store but seriously though i love jack and his songs and animations are great. i totally think that adult swim and jack should work together more often.
The song shows themes of living in the present and living life to the fullest. Which the old lady didn’t when she denied the change of cookies saying “I’ll try those some other time.” You never know how much time you really have left.
I just realized the relation between the fact that he meets an old man and sings a song is about expiring, and also the last line "your days are gone, the grocery lost goes on", just like the old man suddenly disappeared and the young man simply kept looking for a carton of milk. Just wow.
Please take a moment to appreciate the fact that you exist in the same decade as this video. Or this planet. It might be going down and it might dissapear soon. But it's here now. Cherish it a little... Because we'll all expire one day.
If I wasn't into this before, seeing how every short is probably going to combining both Jack's animated shorts and his songs has definitely pulled me in.
"I'll try some on the time" Clearly, the song talks about living your life while in time, because soon, you will expire. So What kind of life are you living ?
[Lyrics:] [Chorus] What kind of milk were you? What kind of life did you live through? [Verse 1] Did you know love? Will you rest in peace? Did you have a family? [Verse 2] How was the view from the shelf? Did you ever believe in yourself? [Chorus] What kind of milk were you? What kind of life did you live through? [Verse 3] Did your life drip rich with calcium? Did they laugh at you, or did you laugh with them? [Verse 4] Dairy Beloved, Your days are gone, The grocery list goes on.
this song reminds me so much of my deceased uncle. he always looked out the window, admiring the view. and he was the best relative and the closest one i had. his family never really got close to him... actually, his wife left him before he got to meet his children. and some facts about him, he had a really rough skin disease. it made his skin red and incredibly itchy. and plus, me and my family got informed he was diagnosed with covid and heart disease. i couldnt believe it at that point, hes such a great person and he didnt deserve all these terrible things. we had to pay for his medical bills since his family didnt care at all, we tried talking to them numerous times but.. no luck. one day my mom was crying her eyes out and told me he passed.. it still pains me to this day that hes actually gone. and i miss him so much.. he always wanted to go up high mountains and admire great views.. and he never found the right time to do it. seems like he didnt get the chance to. i cry to this song everytime
So, the Milk song is sad song I'll write the lyrics for you. Here: What kind of milk were you?...... What Kind of life did you live through? Did you know...Love? Will you rest in peace?
