This gentleman is a genius! It is always great to see those who put so much love and effort into what they do that they end up creating master pieces such as these replicas. Great job Mr!
I wish I had a quarter of the amount of talent and passion (plus the times, means and money) to do the things I love. My problem is there are so very many things that interest me and that I'd love to do. At least I can say I'm never bored or short of things to do!
You are totally right! We had to replicate paintings in art school and it was so incredibly difficult because when you create something you don't have to worry that much about the colours or the composition, but when you copy an already existing painting.. You have to pay attention to everything! I can only imagine how hard it must be with diamonds
That chrysocolla sample is stunning. Not only is it a very large one, the richness of the color is exceptional. Common pieces, small enough to fit in your palm, would go for $30 to $40 and have an irregular texture. I wouldn't even dare to try and put a price on the one shown here. It's surely 4 figures or more.
He has (or used to have) his own TH-cam channel. I remember it because I used to watch it all the time. I remember him saying that he paid $30,000 for that piece
I absolutely love him and his talent. I can’t imagine ever being so precise about anything. I only wish someone else had filmed or edited the video of the stones themselves. None of those closeup clips captured their beauty in the slightest, especially at the end when describing their beauty. 🤦🏼♀️
I don't mind if it's made of a billion dollar diamond or it's just a piece of glass. The cuts are beautiful and intricately done, regardless of the material used. His craft is amazing and the results are so stunning and lovely.
I think I might’ve just missed it, but… what does he make his replicas out of? I mean, yeah, he first takes a resin mold, but that‘s just for reference. But the end product? Synthetic diamond? I am a noob in the gem world , I love fancy color sapphire like parti multicolor sapphires and fancy tanzanite colors best... really want to try cutting . I LOVE how the color of the light turns that color blue when the beam passes through it. It's what I call "led blue" because it is the same color as blue led when lit up . Getting them cut is problematic . I trust the cutter but not the mail or parcel services...soon. one way or another this and it's friends will be meet point faceted with extremely high final polish. How long did it take to learn to be able to replicate famous diamonds accurately?
Sooo...just thinking....maybe they could replicate the kohinoor and return the stolen item back to India? I mean how long does it take for the moral compass to align correctly.
I assume it's a little museum theater. Things vulnerable to theft of high value never go on display instead they keep it in a vault and use high quality replicas.
That first replica/real comparison is two totally different diamond cuts, the video producers could at least have compared the replica with the diamond it was actually modelled after. Just looks like a lazy and sloppy video otherwise.
This is just silly to cut a replica diamond and using the same angles as the original gem is, I’m sure he isn’t cutting synthetic diamonds because of the faceting machine he uses which couldn’t withstand a diamond of any kind. so he is probably cutting quartz or another material with different optical properties. So even if all the angles are the same the gems will look completely different because of how light reflects differently because of the angles and the gems optical properties. I’m not sure what took him so much time to cut those gems although I respect his dedication you can make a better replica by just replicating the cut and facets by eye and not take month to cut a gem that would take only three days to cut and finish
I mean... it does though? A diamond has a refractive index of 2.4, so light travels through it at 125000 kps instead of 300000 kps through vacuum. Thing is, everything but vacuum slows light down a little, it's just that most of what humans care about otherwise is air, and the index of refraction for that is 1.0003, so not much different than vacuum (and our basis of comparison, anyways).
