Robert Palmer made an appearance on this song because overall, he was the executive producer of the entire album. Considering that this music is far and away from Palmer's I always wondered why he was involved. Maybe he knew one of the members, maybe he was just assigned the project. Regardless, it does sound like they all did a good job. The Kevin Bacon involved on this album is not the actor but an English record producer and musician.
Robert Palmer was a fan and brought them from Jive to Island. Visit Gag-bit Vinyl in Bushwick NYC for your post-punk/new wave/synthpop fetish, including this album and lots of other vinyl... :D
I don't have this. What is the date of this CD? Is this their latest? It doesn't have the totality of angular attack as early 80s CA (too many modern elements) but their is a hint of their past greatness. Robert Palmer? God, does that take me back---the dancing manicians!!! This is a very GOOD song. Are they touring? Everyone pisses & Moans about the dirth of great music post 911 and, for the most part, it's true. Still, this song ROCKS!!!
I have this LP......and I loved every freaky second of it
One of the best LP's ever.
some excellent music,,, so underrated... glad robert palmer helped them to get a deal for this record
yess - robert palmer sang !
I just listened to this and thought that there is a vocal part that sounds like Robert Palmer, and lo and behold....
As Irecall the story goes that apparently he liked their previous album 7 day weekend, (which isn't even their best) and so he approached them.

I've read that Robert Palmer sang some of the vocals on this song. Can anyone confirm this? It does sound like him at 2:50 - 3:20. Yep, that's him!

Robert Palmer was involved because he liked the band and was also keen to help out fellow Yorkshire musicians
