Hi everyone welcome back to our channel! Today we are going to be reviewing and fitting some brand new coilovers to my mk2 golf! maxpeedingrods got in touch with us to see if we wanted to try out some of their products, so now we are testing their coilovers. I’ll give my honest opinion on what they feel like when fitted to the car, so I hope you enjoy this video! -Steve and Beth

That does not take much , have you seen the type of person a dealership takes on these days ? No interest and the jobs yours .Most of the so called technicians have all the gear {snapon} an no idea across the board .They are good as oil and filter changes though.And do not even get me going on bodyshops, some even after 20 years can not even use a screwdriver , and you think i am kidding

I had good results with their connecting rods for Volvo B200/230 Engines. Measured fine on the measuring machine and are holding 2bar boost on E85 up to 7200/min without any problems for 30.000km now.
Cool car, I had a mk 2 16v years ago with koni shocks and springs, man I could throw it around, never once felt like it was going to let go....and I drove it hard.

Oh, I'm very familiar with MaXpeedingRods, I just bought the linkage for it last month, I took it out for a couple of laps and it was fine.👍👍
I had the same issue not being able to get a nut on my Rev9 coilkovers on my MK4. Took a lot of fiddling to find the right combo of stock parts and rev9 parts to get the nut to fit on and the damper adjustment knob XD Good work!
I never install or offer to sell coilovers for/to customers ( warranty , complaints , disappointment ) but I do the alignments for them . You drive 185/14 so not too much issues there but when they come to me it´s a whole other scenario . I can´t comment on good or bad quality . I do however appreciate that company by supporting you .
Bought a set of these same brand for my mk4 chassis beetle and was also previously using the JOM coilovers, gotta say i didnt end up using the maxspeed, they looked ok but the dampening didnt seem so great even compared to the used up old ones, i ended up taking out the internal parts and cutting the tubes to make them a little longer (like 1") then just got a set of standard monroe shock inserts and 225lb springs, maybe later on ill look for those adjustable damper inserts like koni

hi hows its going see if you put tape around the threads of the shocks when you set the hight it helps then if you want to low it down the nuts and threads are clean good job keep it up

It's great to hear an honest review of them. I've heard a lot about the company recently, and I'll definitely consider them when I can start rebuilding my civic.

You probably know this by now but this type of coilovers have a tendency to get stiffer when set up to a normal hight and they feel softer when the car runs lower , in other words the spring has a preload for what ever ride hight the brand pre determine and by adjusting the car hight we mess with that pre load making it kinda stiffer when running at normal hight , so if u Lower the car hight the load on the spring is less resulting in a smoother ride .
Love a mk2 golf but have to say the corrado felt a better drive all round

Bought them back in october 2018 for my 200sx
I've done about 10 000 kilometers with them, the fronts are still in good shape but the rears are gone, leaking, bouncing..
Hope these ones will hold together haha

@@Mirage8v for 135€ this is way beyond my expectations, they're really good for the price, when you buy them you just have to lower your expectations and know that they're not 1.2k coilovers
They introduced me to drifting, so I'm really happy with them

Bin them! I'm not gonna big them up, I've only heard bad reviews. Fair play they were free but in less than a year, they will be in the bin.
Nice job keep working on the vw mk2 golf i like vw mk3 and mk4 and mk2 golf.

I ran them on a mk1 and i agree they are extremely stiff. if you want the stiffest ride possible this is you answer. but they didnt ever blow.
i think cheap coilovers are pretty good if you just want to drive low (not for racing).
i drove about 50 000 km on one set on my scirocco. its a bit harsh on body structure because we have bad roads.
but over all i bought third set already. its a bit jumpy but i actually like stiffer ride. get better control especially on snow.

Great Video, and Nice Mk2!! What engine is it? I own a few, a couple with 20V turbo's in, and one with a 2E from a Mk3 in it, they are great little cars. And I must say, you've got more about you than my son, I'd struggle to get him to do what you did, fair play to you, keep up the good work. New sub (thumbs up)

Good work but should never tighten suspension component until all the cars weight is back on the suspension

Hi. Is there any damper adjustment to stop the suspension from being so bumpy?
Also, as you wind up the spring, surely you're increasing the preload and making the springs shorter and stiffer, or am I missing something here?
You should put on some vented disks on there worth it !! i really dont understand why vw made the front shock mount nuts like that annoying
Smart Mk2 Golf, I had one years ago and should have kept it. Looks like a good piece of kit and fairly straightforward to fit. You weren’t tempted to lower the suspension then?

Hey how did you install the front ones? Did you have to modify it? Looking at same kit for mine, same car too and it says does not come with top mount please help!

Some of the roads round where I live are crap this includes main roads which knock the crap out of any suspension.
I think the coilover company might watch this and think "Ouch, she burned us".

Quick tip. Upgrade to mk3 Vr6 upper strut mounts. The mk2 upper mounts are garbage.

This type of coilovers aren't meant to lift a car hight u will end up with a very stiff ride how stiff ? Cracking dash stiff !
