    Inspired by the giant utility knife blade created by Jimmy Diresta ( • DiResta Big Razor ), and the Stanley knife that it was modeled after, I created this giant knife perfectly to scale and entirely out of wood because stupid challenges are often the most rewarding. Put that on a t-shirt, or don't (probably don't). As soon as I saw Jimmy create the blade I knew this had to happen, I was able to get one from him and then decided to set the totally unnecessary requirement that it be made entirely out of wood because (everyone say it with me now) "I hate myself", good work everyone... The body is made from maple butcher block. The internal mechanism is made from 1/4" plywood, a piece of white oak for the spring because of it's flexibility, and it's handle is a piece cut from padauk. Lastly, the screw is turned on a lathe from a piece of chechen. For more details on the build, check out the build article linked above, or don't, I don't really mind. Either way, enjoy, you're a great person and I believe in you.

      Hey. One thing I noticed you use frequently is carbon paper to copy a design to the wood. Maybe buy a fairly cheap projector and mount it on the ceiling pointing down, so when you need to copy something you can just project the image onto the wood. You can also easily resize it too. That's how we go about making big posters by hand for example.

    You have excellent taste in mechanical pencils, sir. Also, that's a pretty sweet little knife you made there 😂 I can't even fathom how much time you put into projects like this, but it turned out super awesome man.

    • @JackmanWorks
      @JackmanWorks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's about 2 weeks of work right there haha. That pencil is literally the best thing ever though! I lost it during the move but just found it again. It's the best for the template work because to trace on the carbon paper I just use the metal tip which is the perfect size!

    • @BruceAUlrich
      @BruceAUlrich 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't seen someone break out carbon paper in a while. Really brought me back.

    • @JackmanWorks

    So just when we start to think we’re getting pretty slick at making our own content this guy comes along and schools us, both in craftsmanship and videography. I feel like I shoot my vids on a Fisher Price now! Subbed Mr Jackman. 👍🏻
