Having seen it in person and now having seen the amount of work that went into AARP-65 ! I have no words amazing display of tooling knowledge and execution! The Junkyard Jedi is a true master craftsmen!!
I loved meeting you all and seeing AARP-65 last year in Anaheim, and this making-of video is just icing on the cake. Great idea, amazing execution. Brian, your reactions were perfect
First of all, this is ingenious! The amount of work and engineering in this build blows me away. Secondly, why the Smugglers Room channel doesn’t have a million subscribers, leaves me befuddled.
Your interactions throughout this made me laugh. Being a caregiver I’m thinking “good idea, old bed pan”. That was really cool thanks for posting that and I really love his vintage router plane.
Too awesome! It was great to see a droid completed and the mechanics of it. Genius build. I love it And now I see potty parts runs in the genes. Lol (all puns intended)
This an awesome speed build and a great addition to the fleet of droids. I hope the Junkyard Jedi is able to adjust back to tranquility of shady sabers after being thrust back into the excitement of saving the galaxy far far away.
It's nice to see that after thwarting the Empire's undercover operations deep within the garden center of Walmart, that the Junkyard Jedi was able to retire to a life peace and relaxation!
As a droid builder myself, him building that in 20 days is unbelievably mind blowing. He did such an amazing job on it too, just goes to show ya as long as there’s passion and will, you can do anything 👍.
Fantastic job! Always exciting to see the Junkyard Jedi in action. 😁 P.S Brian your face matched mine throughout the video! 🤣 Especially with the math; my brain does not compute.
I'm laying in bed sick today, unfortunately, but the pure consternation on Brian's face during that first math bit has made me feel at least 7% better. :D
Junkyard Jedi is back!!! Love the use of the old wheelchair. The techniques… the geometry…the bedpans… He stays educating us padawans! Excellent as always Master Jedi.
Brian…. These are the types of things my dad and I would have done if I hadn’t moved away to another state and gotten married…. You will forever remember these days and events with such fond memories…. I’m so envious and super happy for you! Great build!
Thank you much! My dad and I do live in separate states, so you can always find ways to work together even when you are apart. You guys should give it a shot!
It's always amazing to watch the Junkyard Jedi work. I always learn something new, I loved that vintage hand router! And it was an absolute pleasure to me him, your mum and AARP-65. I wish I'd have gotten a picture with them too.
Could you BE any more awe-inspiring? This is so very creative. Your calm narration makes this an enjoyable video to pause and absorb each step. I wasted too much time being a "serious adult". Now I'm trying to set free my Star Wars fan self.
As always a privilege to watch the Junkyard Jedi in action. And Brian cutting in trying to figure maths had me rollin, 🤣, we were all thinking it but somehow you said it without saying it. Lolol. Such a fantastically creative build. Love it!
I'm constantly amazed at people's creativity. Awesome build. Side note: I'm also constantly astounded at how many people are intimidated by simple geometry 🙄 I mean I am an actual physicist but still... 2πr and πr² are the two most basic equations in math. Come on people!
WOW! I love all the old school techniques he used to build this beauty. Now that 3D printers have come along a lot of these techniques will be lost unfortunately. What a fantastic and fun build!
You know, that was one of the biggest reasons I wanted him to build this and share it. When I see this I realize that we can have both new technology and old techniques working together. So we just need to keep mixing them you know?
So when I saw this at Celebration I was impressed, but I had no idea how much work was put into this. I think part of me just assumed he’d have retrofit an existing droid, but to build it from scratch like that is just unreal. It makes me appreciate it even more. Junkyard Jedi is next level!
Man that looks better than the pictures I have seen. It must have been so much fun growing up with Junkyard Jedi! Always love his builds. Thanks for another awesome video!
Awesome craftsmanship as always. Being a machinist it makes me itch whenever I see plans glued to material like that, but I guess that's sometimes the best way. I just wish the plans on the builders forum had dimensions too. Haven't been there in a couple of years so I guess it's time to go explore and get some of those stl files. And a 3D printer, lol.
@@TheSmugglersRoom I actually have a decal that I can email you on what it looks like the fire dept. droid , what's your email? Your welcome and glad you like the idea on the medic droid lol
This is too cool!! Wow, a lot of work goes into these guys. Question, though: this was just for Celebration, right?? What became of AARP-65 afterward?? I mean, he’s not that small and I know you guys do a lot of these R-Unit droids. Would be and interesting geek-ication video
Thanks! Oh he will get plenty of use! There are so many comic cons, and other events to use this. And when not in use, they make for great display pieces!
This was awesome! What was the glue that he used for the styrene? At work I use ReznBond but I’m more interested in finding out about this brand. Looks easier to use.
I can’t speak for him entirely, but I know when I work with Styrene I do use a bit of both. I am assuming that the dome needed a bit more of a gusset and possible a little extra strength that the CA glue provided as it’s thicker.

LOL!!! Right???
Ah, if you only knew where it came from Ryne.

He used "Weld-On 3". It basically "welds" the PVC together. Here is a link: amzn.to/3y4cMDO
Just wondering where you got the styrene and what the dimensions are?
Incredible work!
Can I ask why the switch from styrene glue at the beginning of building the head to what looks like superglue later on?
I can’t speak for him entirely, but I know when I work with Styrene I do use a bit of both. I am assuming that the dome needed a bit more of a gusset and possible a little extra strength that the CA glue provided as it’s thicker.
