I'm a 16 yr old Indian girl, I love medical field and currently preparing for my neet ug ( medical clg exam in india) , I also desire to pursue my passion regarding space, so I see this video as an absolute win!😊❤
My parents wanted me to do medicine and I have always wanted to do aerospace engineering. This is the only field that will fill the gap between my parents happiness and my dreams
REALLY,,I got exactly the video I wanted....I like biology and physics but maths is a bit weak. So I was forced to study in the medical line, but the attraction and enthusiasm that I have towards that universe did not go away❤So I currently preparing for my med entrance exam NEET UG 2024.. this is the only way through which I can reach my dream world 😍 THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFORMATIVE VIDEO...❤
Thank you for talking about accredited programs! As a UTMB grad and current Flight Surgeon at NASA, one comment: because the IM/AM program only includes 2 years of Internal Med, the academic standards for acceptance are higher than for a traditional IM residency because they expect you to learn IM in 2 years instead of 3. That being said, many IM/AM folks end up doing a Chief year in Internal Medicine because they are so clinically strong, so it may not actually save you any time. (I'm EM/AM Boarded, so I have no stake in the IM game ;) Re new, emerging programs: "space medicine" is just a subset of Aerospace Medicine, so be cautious about programs that advertise it as a "new" or "niche" specialty. In reality, Aerospace Medicine has been an ABMS specialty since 1953 (decades older than specialties like Emergency Medicine), and space medicine has been practiced since the 1960s. Just like any other medical training program, prospective applicants should ensure that the program is ACGME-accredited, that you are Board-eligible in Aerospace Medicine upon graduation, and that the Program Director is actually formally trained and/or Board-certified in Aerospace Medicine. That will ensure you get industry standard-level training and set you up for the most hiring opportunities after graduation. Good luck!
Wow thank you so much for the reply and information Dr. Chough! I'd love to connect further. My email is kaganovmedia@gmail.com. I can shoot you an email if you are ok with that?
Hey!! I'm a doctor from India wanting to do space medicine. How are the opportunities for imgs? How do you become a flight surgeon? Would love to hear from you! ❤️
Literally have been looking for something related to Aerospace Medicine forever!! I find it soooo INTERESTING!! I hope you’ll be able to post more videos relating to this field! :)
I'm going into high school and I always thought that I wanted to have a carear in Peadatrics, but I have been intresed in space exploration for as long as I can rember and have always wanted to work for NASA. You have no idea how much this viedo has helped me and thank you so much for explaning now what I want to persue as my future carear!
This is what I was seeking Finally, I have a Dream to achieve. (because I was shaking between medicine and space engineering) Thank you for the video 😊
OMG the last thing u said directly described me im so shocked Like u said who love adventures, who love space , and who dont see themself in a hospital for them areospace medicine will be fantastic I was amazed that all u said described me , i thought no one undersood me , but now thanks for the video It is really going to change my life. I am so excited and filled with joy after watching this video Thank u soo soo much
I'm a high school senior in Australia who is preparing to enter medicine in 2025. I've always had a curiosity for science since I was young. I did a work experience last year with a paediatrician which provided me with insight on what the daily life in the hospital is like, and while i am fascinated by the idea of being a paediatrician, when I first heard about aerospace medicine, something just clicked for me; this speciality sounds exactly like what i was looking for in medicine. i've always loved space and working with people directly involved in space travel sounds very exciting. assuming all goes well with entering med school, i will certainly consider aerospace medicine as one of my top choices for specialty as of now! i'll have a chat with my high school career advisor to see what options there are for me in Australia^^
Great video, Dan. You're a motivated teacher and you'll make a great mentor. And very nice meeting you at the SMA lecture. All the best going forward. -Basil.
Hello Daniel. I am a family medicine doctor and I am from Brazil. Since I was a little boy I dreamed to be in space. Today I am studying here to be a neurosurgeon, but also I am considering being a spacial doctor. I just saw your video and WOW! Iam excited again! I don't know if here in Brazil it will be possible, so I will look for these two fellowships you've mentioned. Also, I see that this video is from 2022, what are you doing today?? Can you give me more instructions of what should I do to become a spacial doctor? Thank you thank you thank you!
I used to intern at JSC. And when I saw the flight surgeons at mission control, EVERY single one was bald. I was like “I want to do that, but I don’t want to manifest this bald energy” 😂
In Europe I think it's not that easy and accessible... in my country, Italy, there isn't any fellowship or residency program available. That is very unpleasant. Even in university there isn't any course related to it. In UK there is something, and maybe France I think. I became interested in ASM just two years ago (I'm in the last year of medical school), and I'm feeling very motivated now. I asked to do my thesis in collab with the air force in an aerospace medicine related subject: I hope to do it, with maybe an intern at ESA, that could give me interesting experiences and suggest if that could be my future path.
Awesome video, man. Tho, you kept mentioning 'flight surgeons' and 'aerospace physicians' in your video. I have in interest in surgery and astronomy, so I was hoping for a residency that provided training in both surgery and aerospace medicine. A combined residency, like the one with internal medicine, you told about. Are there any such residencies for surgeons, or could you make a video on how to be a 'space surgeon'? Thanks a bunch!
I am an international medical graduate from Nepal. I am coming to the United States in 2024. I want to join your squad as well. We will reach to the Moon and the Mars. I am joining your squad guys. See you at SpaceX. Thank you so much Daniel for the video. Best wishes! Regards, Aaryan
What do you think of UCLA's Space Medicine fellowship? Also, I've been feeling like these fellowships have been pushing an emergency medicine residency.
Can you please make another video on how an Indian who pursued mbbs in georgia after passing USMLE can go through to become an aerospace medical physician
Hello respected sir I am a medical student in India, i want to ask that after MD in Aerospace Medicine...can i become mission specialist, actually i want to become astronaut not only MD medicine. Please reply sir 🥺
I want to know if an IMG (International Medical Graduate) can apply for the combined program as well? Cause as far as I’ve searched the aerospace medical physician mostly work for Airforce or Navy. So can a non US citizen apply for this program?
@@DanielKaganov So for IMGs , we have to do our residency first in either emergency medicine or internal medicine and then apply for Aerospace fellowship right? 🙁
For joining NASA as space medicine doctor does it require to only train in USA's aerospace University or i can do mbbs from any country Actually Im from india and in ISRO u need to be a engineering background student to join ....

Too specific 😂
Are they able to go on space ?
I mean aerospace medicine doctors.....
yes they are, however, being an astronaut is a separate profession / training
Sir I am an Indian I need to get to aerospace medicine that's my only goal I will do anything it takes!!
If someone graduates medical school in another country, for example Australia, can they apply to aerospace medicine in US?
I believe so but it may be super competitive
